Atmosphere: The salon itself is not large. However, it still gets the job done, is clean, and a relatively cute place with great employees. Customer Service: From the phone to the salon, the customer service is fantastic! Firstly, they were very accommodating with the schedule over the phone and try their best to work around your hours. When I arrived for my appointment, I was serviced by a woman named Katie and since it was my first time waxing, I wasn't sure about what to expect. I thought it would be awkward since she can see my private bits, but there was actually nothing to be afraid of! Katie was explaining the process as she went along, made me feel comfortable, and made casual conversation so there was no awkward silence. One of the best things about this place is the discount treatment card you can get and use for following appointments giving you fab savings! It is also open late on weeknights, close to the city and with free parking out the front. Atsuko did a fantastic job cutting and coloring my hair. Her attention to detail was impressive - she spotted mistakes in my previous haircut that even I hadn't noticed, and was very careful the the color didn't splatter or run onto my skin or clothing. I brought some photos of my ideal cut - she did a great job marrying the style to what my hair actually does. She even gave me some tips on how to blow dry it better when I am doing it myself. Plus, she managed to pull this all off in less than 2 hours! (And it didn't feel rushed). My hair looks amazing and I am so happy with it! And even though they seem to always be busy, they are somehow able to fit people in on short notice so don't be shy about calling them.

I'm glad I did! I went from brown to blonde. The colour is even and is the shade I was looking for. Jessie cut my hair just as I asked and made sure I was happy before I left. She also gave me green tea and a little snack which I thought was a nice touch. Their prices are reasonable for a city salon. If I had to complain about something it would be that my visit took a long while - I was there almost 3 hours. But I can live with that ... providing I'm happy with the result :)

Lexi doesn't have the greatest range of nail varnish (mostly traditional colours in the pink/red family with a few lurid exceptions) but they don't mind if you bring in your own from home. Usually I only get a mani-pedi, but I have it on good authority from a friend that their waxing is phenomenal - she swears the Lexi girls always give shaggy eyebrows the perfect shape. There's only a handful of chairs available so I'd recommend calling ahead on weekends, but walk-ins aren't a problem mid-week. And, like most salons, you'll get a better deal if you bundle various services together, however the prices are really reasonable to begin with so an afternoon at Lexi is a guilt-free treat!

So I came in with another colleague, she is there for a haircut and I am there for eyebrow threading. The shopfront is only about 1.5 metres wide so it's easy to walk past or undermine this salon, but once you walk in you will find a long narrow salon with a separate area at the back and beautician of the house Rimi does her magic upstairs. The hairdresser listened to my friend's request and did a good job cutting and thin layering her super thick hair. She was told the story that this salon's specialty is hair extension and they love doing colours. My eyebrow threading+tinting was a lovely experience and both of us walked away happy and with a $20 voucher each for next visit. Friendly staff, lovely service, satisfied clients. If I didn't have to cross the bridge to get here, this will be my local salon.

I let her know what I needed to get done, and she recommended Yumi, an Advanced Senior Stylist. I understand that getting hair done in another country can be tricky, especially if you don't know the stylists. But as this is right by Myers on Level 1 of the Emporium, and it is a Paris-based salon, I figured I would gamble with the French. As I had a longer appointment, it required a $90 deposit that would be non-refundable if canceled. I arrived today and was swiftly greeted by Yumi. She offered me tea or coffee and brought it to me right away. She then met with me to discuss my hair and needs. She brought out the color book and talked to me about toning colors along with matching colors for my roots. She also took the time to look at my base color and we mutually agreed on mixing two tones to help replicate color. I was super tired having been running around all day. I was not in the mood to talk and enjoyed my mini nap while Yumi worked on my hair. She was very patient and respected my space and need for rest. Plus it always feels good to get your hair done- sort of a meditative process, if you will. She let me know when I would be done with the foils and base coloring and how much time it would be till wash and rinse with the toner. When it came time to take out my alien foils out and wash my hair and apply toner, she gave me a lovely massage around my hair line and neck etc to help round out the process. Yumi was super profesional with me, and afterwards she helped me take photos of my hair. I think most Aussies use Google Reviews, but I let her know there is a population of us travelers who do use Yelp and want to provide feedback. As I didn't know their address, she gave me this pamphlet that had their hours and address. I then logged onto Yelp and saw someone else had added them but did not have a good experience. All I can say is that all of the staff were pleasant to me and treated me nicely from booking to finish. I super love my hair and normally would not let anyone else touch my hair as I have seen the same stylist for over a decade. But sometimes in life it is good to shake things up a bit and nothing matches that elation you get when you walk away with fresh looking hair that makes you feel like a model. Even just for a day! Thank you Yumi and all the staff. Ps their hours are: Mon-Wed And Sat 10:00-7:00pm Thursday 10:00am-8:00pm Friday 10:00am-9:00pm Sunday 10:00am-6:00pm I think it is awesome they have longer hours for both Thursday and Friday evenings to accommodate people getting ready to go out and /or those with different work shifts. Unfortunately I didn't have the colour I agreed on and instead of correcting me the hairstyles suggest I buy a colour shampoo lol I went back for another visit to change the colour .. and guess what?
