I was so sad to learn this Fresh Thyme location is closing in a few weeks. I drove an hour and a half just to come here and was sad to find out about the closing when I arrived. They have some pretty good deals on products that they have, and excellent gluten free options. Not surprising that you're going out of business. I was JUST in there and two people were working deli. One was in the back doing dishes, so I understand why he didn't see us. The second person saw us and completely bypassed us to go do something in the back. The store was dead and no one else was at the counter. Didn't even get a "I'll be right with you" nothing. Worst store/ company for the grocery world! They don't value anything but $! Their managers Brooke and Lindsay are the fakest group of ladies you will ever meet! Honestly not sure they even know what their job is or how they got their so called position. This is a store worth going to. I usually leave food reviews but I just have to say this staff is one of the best I have seen. The high wrong process must be amazing because they have the best of the best. So many different type of people who more than like likely have different views. This is exactly like sprouts in California. Great selection of everything nutrition, probiotics and fruits and vegetables. They have a fill your own honey and oil which is cool! Their bread are a little on the higher priced side. Overall, fun, clean, and spacious. read more

Kudos to Starla who made me a 1/2 gallon of fresh OJ and the manager there last Sunday who was kind enough to help make that happen. People there are professionals and happy to assist you. Like many, I was excited when Fresh Market announced they would be opening a Mishawaka location as I had the chance to check it out down in Indy. Unfortunately, it has not lived up to the hype. If you want a real Farmer's Market - hit up the South Bend Farmer's Market which is open year round and buy direct from the farmer's. Fresh Thyme carries quality products, but I have yet to find anything that is competitively priced. I've compared items and you can find the same products for significantly less at other local options. I've also found the employees to be less than helpful. Each of the half a dozen times I've been in store, they seem more focused on chatting with one another instead of helping customers. I popped in to pick up two quick items on a Saturday afternoon since I happened to be in the area. The store was surprisingly empty and when I approached the register to check out, there were three employees chatting. I stood and waited a few minutes before confirming that the register was actually open - I felt like I was intruding on a conversation instead of just trying to pay for my items. I went to FTM last night for the first time. For starters, the parking lot layout is not conducive for grocery shopping. Then the store- The layout is like a Kroger. They have some decent loss leaders: cantaloupe 97¢, kiwi 5/$1, asparagus cheap, etc. But this is where it ends for advantages for my shopping style. The bakery is lackluster at best. I feel like it is Walmart quality. I bought an 8 inch cannoli cake for $14- it sucked. Their muffins and cookies are basic and boring. The ingredients are not better than a Walmart baked good. The cold packed reheat meals had a decent variety. I appreciated the vegetarian options. However upon inspection, the macaroni and lasagna looked like it was sitting in a puddle of water. To me, this said old and gross. I bought a spinach and feta quiche for $10. It is terrible. I followed the reheat instructions exactly. The bottom crust is raw and soggy. The egg mixture is fine, but nothing to write home about. It was a waste of money. The non loss leader produce was the same prices you see in other local stores. Nothing special here. The dairy and frozen section had a nice variety of veg options. The prices were the same as elsewhere and a few were more expensive. Tofurkey slices are cheaper at WF. I didn't bother with the non perishable grocery aisles. Then customer service... At 7pm there were lines for check out. The store is new, so this is to be expected. But the cashier was not very friendly. I bagged my groceries myself because she ran out of bags in the space next to her- and she would ring something up, then walk around the end of the check out to bag. A for effort, F for common sense, not to mention management's oversight. No thank you at the end of my purchase. A "here ya go" when handed my receipt. No thanks. I will skip this store from now on. read more

These guys are the WORSE. I bought Fresh Sandwiches for my Family and soup and other Groceries and they were STALE. We are Asian and it feltlike that had something to do with the Food Service. My wife is a BSN RN and I am a Engineer, but we drive an older car and we dress casual with my kids dressing as kids who are Teens do... kind of low class trendy. Well, the food servicer gave me a attitude after seeing my kids and served us old food and the food was really bad and stale and should have been tossed out. I complained and they would not do anything about the poor quality of food that IF I had bothered to call their County Food Inspector they would have been fined or worse. Well, they called the Police while we were eating the food? They were smiling at us while we ate. The Police arrived and we were Trespassed and we had to leave. Do yourselves a favor and stay way from here! Especially if you are Asian! Better yet, stay away from this place because you do NOT want to get Food Poisoning like Botulism. My GOD! read more

We've gone here off and on for years. I like a small store, hate the mega stores. This is not a store to do all of your shopping. But there is a good selection of quality items to be had. As of late I've come across this store being sold out of sale item's within 2 days of a new ad dropping. What gives?! The buyer, the store manager, a department head I would think has control of and has the information as to what sell's and what doesn't. It's an inconvenience coming back with a rain check to see if said item(s) are back in stock. And this is unfortunately becoming more and more common. I have been going here since they opened. It has gotten so bad I have to take it off my places to shop. The fruit and vegetables are literally rotting on the shelves. Lettuce is brown and soaking wet with their spraying machine. Tried to buy bread today. it was clearance for $.69 cents because it was expired. Rang up at the SELF CHECK lane full price. Pushed button for assistance. The girl watching over the self checkers was busy hopping up and down - strange. Okay, waited for her. She took the bread and came back and told me it was full price. No, its expired and the sign says $.69 - well, they have been so busy they didn't have time to reduce the price. OK, but the sign says they did. Whatever. Enough of rotted fruit and vegetables and terrible customer service. I will not be shopping there anymore - they lost a good regular customer but like everywhere, no one seems to care. read more

Fresh Thyme calls itself a farmer's market, which in itself doesn't tell you much until you see other grocery stores calling itself a farmer's market. I lived in Atlanta where they had several farmer's market grocers, and they were all basically cut-rate stores. How they came up with the name of farmer's market as code for cheap market, I have no idea. On the positive side they have most of what your local Whole Foods carries, at a markedly lower price. This value proposition alone will draw many away from Whole Foods. On the negative side --at least when it comes to the deli/cafeteria-- the quality is also noticeably lower. I grumble at Whole Foods sushi price, but I admit the quality is there. I just had Fresh Thyme sushi for the first time, and I wouldn't be buying it again soon. The price was considerably cheaper than Whole Foods, but the taste was far less. While Whole Foods around here are staffed by many new-age types, the Fresh Thyme cashier who checked me out had a gold necklace with a cross prominently displayed on her neck. Depending on your political persuasion this could sway your shopping toward or away from the place. All in all if Whole Foods is Target, then Fresh Thyme is Wal-Mart. One is not necessarily better than the other, but most people will definitely prefer one over the other. read more

I love this store. However, I would love it more if the management would make the necessary repairs in the Ladies Restroom. Why would it take a month to replace a missing toilet paper dispenser? I had one of worst experiences from the checkout lady at the exit. I had come with my own basket to be environmentally friendly and didn't see any signage anywhere on not caring one. As soon as my daughter and I arrived at the checkout the lady at the counter without any proper greetings just barked out, " you are not allowed to bring any personal bags.....you have already come in with one so I am going to allow it this time but you CANNOT set it on the counter nor can I bag it." I am still writing it more politely than she spoke. I said not a problem I will bag stuff myself. She didn't thank me when I said thank you and no response further. Very rude experience. Just stopped in for the grand opening. A lot like whole foods but the atmosphere seems more welcoming. Really fantastic selection of pre-made food at decent prices. Lots of fresh produce at good prices. Great organic selection though that's not my area of expertise- so others may think different. I tried their FESH JUICE MADE IN STORE and it was honestly the freshest purest orange juice. Employees were extremely helpful and honestly seemed to be enjoying themselves and excited to be part of the store which is cool! Good selection of non edible items- essential oils, soaps, etc. they had a cooler with probiotics and such which I personally have no use for but again others may! They also have seating at the front of the store. Really neat aspect- a sign for kids that says hidden somewhere above is a tractor and if the kids find it and tell the cashiers they get a special token. read more

I was not impressed by shopping at Fresh Thyme. I popped in on Valentine's Day before my dinner reservation and I quickly roamed the store but I only bought 10 items. Their produced in price is comparable to that of Kroger's and it wasn't even local; you can tell by checking the sticker on the produce. There were a few great deals on the produce but not many; asparagus was around fifty cents. Meats and Deli: I usually buy my meats and deli from Charlie's Butcher Block on Saturday's so I compared prices Sunday. They had many of the imported packaged meats at Fresh Thyme that they had at Charlie's for the same price. It was the same thing for the deli section. I did purchase two New York Strip Steaks that were $4.69 a pound and an entire chicken, decent sized for two people, that came out to a total of $3.95. Fish: I go to Sam's club to buy my fish, I used to be an employee at Sam's so I know everything is fresh and no preservatives are added, and I was even more disappointed by their fish selection. I can buy a 5-7 pound filet of salmon at Sam's Club for $13-17 dollars while a fillet, the size of what they would serve at a nice restaurant, was $15 at Fresh Thyme and they didn't look as fresh. "Fresh assortments" They had many assortments of fresh juices, fresh vegetable trays, fresh fruit cups, etc., but I felt like it was all over priced. I prefer to buy vegetables and fruits and juice, or package, myself because it's cheaper and I end up with a larger quantity. Organic items: I prefer to grow everything myself but there are some organic items that I would much rather buy. Fresh thyme had a great selection, I do give them that, but everything was very pricey. There were a few items I saw that I get imported from Charlie's, or I can find at Kroger or Martin's, that were two dollars more. Ethnic: I wasn't impressed by their prices or variety. I buy all of my Asian products at the Asian store in Elkhart and all of my Mexican, or Spanish, items from the local Mexican stores. Fresh Thyme did not have variety in ethnic foods and they were over priced. Alcohol: At this point I was unimpressed with the store. I didn't even bother to walk over I just went straight to check out. Last but not least: Items you would find at a grocery store: I looked around and saw that their packaged yogurts, juices, eggs, etc were all overpriced as well. If I don't buy imported or fresh cheese from Charlie's I buy cheese at Meijer, Martin's, or Kroger for cheap. I buy Tropicana usually as our orange juice and it was $5 at Fresh Thyme when I can get it at Kroger for $3 or less. Organic yogurts or even Chobani yogurts were overpriced as well. Their free range or cage free eggs were anywhere from $3-5 but I usually go to Shipshewana and buy them for $2.69 to $3.69. The spice aisle did have fresh spices from companies that are known to place peppercorns, or sea salt, seeds, leaves, etc., where you grind them onto your food instead of being pre-ground. NOTE: I DO COUPON AND LOOK FOR SPECIAL DEALS. I DO NOT EXTREME COUPON SEEING AS MOST COUPONS ARE FOR PROCESSED AND PACKAGED FOOD AND I PREFER TO BUY FRESH. In conclusion: I believe Fresh Thyme is an overrated SUPERMARKET; not a farmers market as they claim. I believe that I would have spent $200 there if I did all my grocery shopping for that week when I usually spend $200-$250 a month on groceries for two people. The money would have been worth it if they were a local or trusted market but they are not. read more

The vegetable selection is fairly good with good prices. Very good cheese selection. I was very surprised at the meat selection. It was very sparse. The seafood selection was skimpy and appeared to mainly imported from outside of the united states and Canada. The parking was bad. I wasn't impressed. They are trying to sell this store as a farmers market - which is inaccurate. The produce was iffy and it rotted in less than two days. The entire store layout leaves for a poor shopping experience - I've honestly never been so irritated coming out of a grocery store. You're better off at Whole Foods down the road. read more

Went here a few days after they had first opened up in the area. It's a good store for people with gluten allergies.but the apple brats were extremely horrible tired there pizza it was not the best. Pretty good. The meat counter is our #1 stop. lots of good seafood choices, and some very good sausages. Their pork has been very good so far. There are some brands here you can't find other places, and some brand that you've never heard of and wonder why they are there. Good beer and wine selection and prices on most things are pretty good. I can't do all my shopping here though. Bread, milk, and eggs are way too expensive, and some of the produce is limited. read more

I was in Mishawaka for work and was told to check out Fresh Thyme for a "low key whole foods" and that is pretty much what it is. Has all the bulk foods but a much more limited prepared food section. Tried this place out today, as I was just going to Lowes anyway. Wow, the seafood counter was , well, sexy!.What can I say, these peppered tuna steaks and the salmon steaks were just glistening, like an oiled up stripper! (saw after a few minutes that they have automatic misters that spray fine water droplets on them every 4 or 5 minutes) I bought a nice peppered tuna steak, and a nice sirloin steak, both looked way better than Martins products. Not overly pricey,either. Great cheese selection, not impressed by beer and wine selections or pricing, but, hey, its an organic type of place, get beer at the beer store, ya lug! Seems better quality/lower priced than Martins, and lower priced than whole foods. Like it, see no reason to give more than an a-ok, as it's a-ok with me. Some of these people on here, they really tick me off, they just LOVE everything!!!! Get a grip, you snots! If everything around here was a 5 star thing we wouldn't be rated a dying, depressed city! The customer service is lackluster at best. I went to the store on Saturday 4/16/2016 and some of the employees were dressed as vegetables, there was an employee there dressed as a pea handing out protein bars who was pretty rude. Now I can only comment on the Mishawaka, IN location, but I was impressed by Fresh Thyme. We avoid gluten, and it was really nice to find a place that has "Gluten-Free" marked very obviously with hang-tags (this is also true for Vegan, and other special interest shoppers).
