You can certainly get a plethora of printed media from your hotel about the city. But I suggest you…read morepay a visit when you arrive in Vancouver anyway. Because what you don't get is the first hand knowledge, short cuts, tips and local tidbits that the enthusiastic staff here will impart. Kudos to Vancouver for attracting what seems to be volunteer retirees who love their city and want to make sure that you love it too and will get the most out of your visit here too. I spoke to two volunteers here, and another while we took a ferry ride, who went on the False Creek Ferry tour with her husband so she could talk intelligently about it. It appears that the staff on their days off take the time to go to the site and attractions the Centre recommends. They are honest in their opinions about places and are good at reading your needs too. On the day I stopped by and praised the natural beauty of the city, the volunteer recommended Lighthouse Park to me, after I informed her that wanted to explore places outside central Vancouver area. She was a gem, the park was a delight, and her advice about going early to avoid the traffic on Lion's Gate, because of a lane closure, is the kind of tip you can really only get from a local. I loved the fact that when I asked her a question she didn't know, she asked another person who did know. Teamwork and passion and common sense. Wow! The Centre is clean(that word is synonymous with Vancouver I am finding), spacious, and well stocked with all sorts of printed cards and brochures from various places and vendors. Look for the places you want to visit to see if they offer discounts. Get the brochure/map on Stanley Park as it is colorful and well done. It was so pretty I brought it home so I could gaze out it while dreaming about my next trip. The large city map the tourism board prints out is good too, if your hotel already doesn't have that one. Get also the cheat sheet on attractions the Centre prints out. That tells you what bus, train to take, and if it is a two fare zone etc. (My only tip now would be for LIghthouse Park, that they add the actual stop to get off! Also, the only bus that goes to Marine Drive I was told by a local runs only 3x Sundays!). It's a plain Xerox sheet, nothing fancy, chock full of useful information. I was already used to Vancouver's fairly easy mass transit system but if you are not a savvy, that is truly helpful. I thought it was terrific even though I had plotted most of my routes. This is one of the best tourism offices I've visited in terms of friendliness of staff, the quantity and quality of information from the staff. The only strange thing seems to be a lack of public bathroom but I was directed to the food court just next door! Just a note: If anyone from the tourist board reads this, I understand the Giant Os Gemeos might be in trouble. Why not have a satellite stand on Granville Island just asking for $1 from every visitor? Or ask randomly the visitors who come through YVR? Just one dollar? Or have the city host an Os Gemeo BBQ, with tickets going to support their maintenance?

So disgusted with your transit system.

Our stateroom was nice, except there's not enough storage for folded items. The bathroom shelves are open. On rough seas the things on the shelf fall off. The Concierge/suite lounge opened at 5:00 pm. For those passengers that have 5:00 dinner, you can't enjoy a pre-dinner drink. The Concierge and the wouldn't allow anyone to "touch" any food before 5:00. Also, they had run out of Diet Coke on the ship and were bringing on a new shipment. When we asked for Diet Coke they said that it would be in the bars for the evening hours. Well, I went to at least 8 bars and they didn't have any. The dinner menus in the Main Dining Room are just ordinary. When we first started cruising on Royal Caribbean, the food was excellent! Through the years especially with the specialty restaurants, the main dining room quality has declined. Our stateroom was very nice. Our room attendant, Emily, was friendly and attentive. She did a great job. We missed seeing the Hubbard Glacier. It was a nice surprise to get compensated. When we booked the cruise, it ended in Seward. About a month before the cruise was to leave they changed the port of Debarkation, from Seward to Whittier. We were fortunate to be sail back to back, so we didn't have to disembark at Whittier. They didn't have the sufficient facility to handle passengers disembarking and new passengers embarking, for such a hugh ship! They had to ferry passengers and their baggage to a tiny dock to get on the ship! This is what happens when they keep building these humongous ship.

Very bad business practice…read more We booked a 3pm tour. It was the last day that we are in Vancouver, we would be flying home that night. At 1:45pm, after we have planned our whole day around the excursion and checked out of the hotel in preparation of this tour, Sea Vancouver office called and said they are cancelling my tour because they "need a minimum of 4 people and only 3 people booked". I explained that we are leaving the city that day, and we planned our whole day around this, and if there is anything they can do. It is unreasonable to only notify me 75 minutes prior to departure time - we were already on the way to the departure point! The only thing they said was that they will refund me in full (I'd better hope so since you cancelled it with incredibly short notice!) I understand that it may not be economical to operate a tour based on fixed cost, but this was NOT written anywhere when I booked it on the official website, but they were happy to take my money when I booked. The confirmation email stated "We reserve the right to delay or cancel a departure for events beyond our control (e.g. adverse weather conditions, technical or mechanical issues, etc.)" -- well, operating a boat when there are "only" 3 paying customers is definitely in their control, they just choose to screw over their customers. This has put a really sour taste on my trip to Vancouver. I would encourage everybody to stay away.

This was our first time in Vancouver, and whats not a better way to experience it than by taking a boat tour! We honestly planned this boat tour super last minute, so we called a few places, but they were all closed. Fortunately, Sea Vancouver still had tours going out until 7pm which was the last one! The lobby is located in the Westin hotel and the ride is 90 minutes long, which takes you all around the harbor of Vancouver to the English Bay! There was so much to see at the waterfront and we even saw a few dolphins along the ride! We were hoping for orcas too but maybe next time haha. Overall the boat tour was absolutely amazing! Terry our captain, made the experience super educational a fun! Love that guy! Thanks Cap! And thank you Sea Vancouver!
