We bought our tickets at the Capital City Station on Douglas Street in Victoria, and Sandy was absolutely wonderful, friendly, helpful, and patient. She even got us seats for October 13, 2025, which was Thanksgiving. Every company needs a Sandy, she deserves 5 stars for her service. Once we boarded the bus, things went downhill. Our driver, James wasn't very approachable. His responses were short, and he came across as a bit grouchy. It was a holiday, so we understand, but as first-time passengers, we found his instructions unclear and he seems to not welcome questions. When the ferry docked at Tsawwassen, we didn't hear it was time to reboard the bus to continue to downtown Vancouver. We missed the announcement and ended up being left behind, but our checked bags and personal items were still in the bus to Vancouver. Thankfully, the staff at Tsawwassen terminal were great. They guided us, called ahead to Pacific Station BC Ferries, and made sure we could retrieve our bags. When we finally reunited with the bus, James didn't seem particularly concerned or empathetic, which made an already stressful situation feel worse. We blame ourselves for missing the bus. But for future improvements, clearer announcements and louder overhead speakers would help first-time travelers. Even a quick name call for missing passengers would go a long way.

Once on the boat you can hang out in your car, sit inside by a window, visit one of their many dining options or my personal favorite hang out on the upper deck. We booked morning options so it was fun to watch the sun rise (with a coffee from the dining area). We also saw a few whales in the distance. Definitely recommend taking the ferry to visit Vancouver Island if you're visiting the area

Pretty sure it used to be a train station way back. The Canada and Expo lines can be traversed here, but involves walking through a long tunnel. Being underground, the station also has multiple exit scattered throughout the vicinity which is pretty useful. Fun fact - the first Starbucks location outside USA is located in the historic building part of the station.

Travelling by ferry on a Monday in August proved to be a highly challenging experience…read more We typically make reservations and have done so for many years. However, on this occasion, we were unable to secure a booking for the required date. As a result, we arrived early and attempted to travel as standby passengers. This decision ultimately resulted in more than five hours of waiting before boarding. During this time, we spoke with many other passengers in similar circumstances, some of whom experienced even longer delays and greater inconvenience. One couple we encountered had arrived the previous evening with a valid reservation but missed their check-in by one minute. They were scheduled to report at 8:30 p.m. but arrived at 8:31 p.m., resulting in the cancellation of their booking. They were required to find an overnight accommodation, return at 6:00 a.m. the following morning, and ultimately boarded the noon sailing, only a short time before we did. This situation highlighted the extent of the delays and the level of disruption many travellers were experiencing. A significant concern throughout the process was the apparent lack of a clear and consistent system for managing standby passengers. From within our vehicles, it was difficult to determine how boarding priority was being established. There did not appear to be a transparent or consistently applied method for organizing lanes or respecting arrival times. Instead, different staff members provided varying directions, and vehicle movement between lanes appeared inconsistent. After approximately six to seven hours of waiting, one passenger travelling with his family became increasingly frustrated. He raised his voice and expressed his dissatisfaction, stating that they had been present since 6:00 a.m. and should have been boarded earlier. While his frustration was understandable given the circumstances, his conduct escalated to the point where management and security, including a police officer and a dog unit, were called to the scene. The individual and his family were told to leave and issued a refund. Although his behaviour was inappropriate, his underlying concern regarding the lack of an organized standby system was not without merit. The issue does not appear to rest with frontline staff, but rather with the broader operational procedures in place. Ultimately, responsibility lies with BC Ferries management to ensure that a clear, fair, and efficient system is implemented for standby passengers, particularly during peak travel periods. A transparent process based on arrival time, lane assignment, and available capacity would significantly improve fairness and reduce confusion. The experience was disappointing and, at times, difficult to observe, particularly given that BC Ferries represents a key transportation service within the province. There is a clear need for improved organization and operational consistency. BC Ferries can and should do better.

It's inside a building, but signage outside is small and not very clear, so it took a bit of wandering before I even found the line. I actually even passed the building up while walking. I needed to use the restroom before going up and saw signage for the one near the food court. Honestly, it was absolutely disgusting and didn't have paper towels. I ended up walking completely out. When I asked the lookout staff about a restroom, I was initially told there wasn't one. Then once they asked if I was intending on buying a ticket, it suddenly appeared that there all of a sudden was a restroom available upstairs. Hmmm but at any rate, it was a completely different experience from the first restroom. Thank goodness. The lookout itself feels dated. You do get a full bird's-eye view of the city, but there wasn't anything especially exciting or memorable about it. They also charged more than what was posted on the signage, so it looks like a recent price increase, $24 CAD mid June. Overall, if you go in with low expectations and just want a quick view of the city, it's fine. But I wouldn't call it a must-do in Vancouver.

They were not as organized as they should have been. Not all the kiosks were open and the lineups went down the highway. Ferry was 20 minutes late departing. Staff was friendly and professional. Visited Vancouver, new Westminster, we are disgusted with the lack of washroom facilities. my…read morehusband is 73 years old with stage 4 prostate cancer, we were looking for a washroom at the train station in new west minster station, with no luck, my husband was beside himself trying to hold it in. not one shop or restaurant would allow us to use the washroom, it was humiliating for my husband , we will let our family and friends know, NOT to visit your city. They gave us maps, directions to different attractions, and helped us figure out the public transit. Michael was friendly and did a great job of being informative, friendly, and keeping the tour moving/not holding up traffic. I will say compared to some of the other food tours we've been on, we didn't walk away as full as anticipated. We definitely got an entree to share between our group of three afterwards, but thanks to the food tour we knew where we wanted to go fairly quickly. All in all a great trip and a super efficient way to check out the market.
