When we arrived, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The lady that helped us was very knowledgeable on the wines and gave us some fun information on how the ice wine is made which we loved. The tasting area is casual and while you sip you are surrounded by barrals aging and their tanks. We did the Black Glass Tasting which is a guided blind tasting of 4 wines. It was a fun way to learn about the wines, flavors and aromas. We guessed 3 of the 4 correctly! The Lemberger was my favorite: a noble grape known for its persistence and quality in the cooler climates of Austria and Germany-also known as Blaufränkisch. We brought a bottle home with us. It was not too sweet or tart. The cream was a perfect pairing in the tart. The toffee cookies, were okay.. a little too,soft for our liking and you couldn't really taste the toffee bits. The shop has some nice things, worth a stop. The young lady behind the counter was nice, but seemed uninterested in answering questions. A little surprising given the quaintness of the shop. Worth a stop for something sweet! The baked good smell alone is worth it!

Both and tables in front and lined up along the side. Larger tables to the back. Staff is moving. Sometimes you're not sure who your server is because multiple people are service and refilling you. Menu pretty basic. Hot cakes, eggs, bacon, ham, sausages, and such. Never had lunch. Just breakfast. I got the light breakfast a fruit cup, English muffin, and yogurt. My partner got the egg sandwich with ham. She loved it. The potatoes are unique. Kinda like sidewinders with seasoning. They are good. The only issue I had is time. Lots of tables around us all 3 days got served before us but arrived after us. We had time but I don't want to spend 30mins or more waiting. That's my complaint. Otherwise good meal.

I'd been…read morewanting to try poutine for quite a while, and though it was available when I lived near Detroit, I never trusted that I was close enough to Quebec for it to be good. I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.
