Dr. Benjamin Beal, anesthesiologist that also works at UCSD and intermittent at VA La Jolla did in fact overdose me with anesthesia back in 2022. Communication is excellent -- in-person, by telephone, and through the myScripps portal. Located across Torrey Pines Road from the Scripps Torrey Pines campus, the Center itself is state-of-the-art in a smart looking building. The entry and main seating area are sunlit, bright and airy. Receptionists are welcoming and clearly patient-focused. There's no charge for parking. What more can I say? I highly recommend everything about the Scripps Cancer Center.

The care of the patient I was visiting seemed friendly and caring, tending to her pain level needs sensitively. She did have one nurse that she thought was insensitive to her needs and talked to her in a condescending tone. The last straw was when she was made to feel like it her fault that she fell (patient is a fall risk), so she ended up requesting a new nurse and all was great after that.

My doctor was great. The C-section doctors did a good job and handled it well. However, the post birth care and the NICU experience was cold, removed and truly awful. Note, the doctors are not to blame. The NICU doctors were incredible and tried to advocate for me, as did my doctor. the issue came in with some nurses and management and the facility furnishing issues. I was in tremendous pain, due to c section my milk had not come in, and I had one baby in the NICU and one in my room- needing to travel between two floors to try and breastfeed for milk to come in. The nurses repeatedly tried to deny me use of a gurney, we had to have multiple disputes on every new shift over this since it was too painful for me to walk or sit in the HORRIFIC yellow chairs in the NICU and the post partum maternity rooms. These are rockers that were clearly picked out by someone who has never had a baby and especially hasn't had a c section. Even my husband couldn't sit in them without back pain. We were expected to sit in these chairs or be denied holding our baby in the NICU. We were told by doctors and nurses who confided in us that we were not the first people to complain about these. Apparently many mothers couldn't hold or nurse their babies in these chairs but the administration has refused to replace them because they cost something like $700 or more a piece. Again- someone thought these looked good- but they actually are not just uncomfortable but impede a mother's ability to be with her newborn baby. It's completely unacceptable how many complaints have been received and these chairs haven't been replaced. We had to file complaints and even speak to top tier leadership over the maternity wing, and I will tell you the woman was COLD, removed and completely disinterested in patients or her staff. This was July 2025 so the woman who was over it then, I wish I could remember her name- it took her 24 hours to come speak to us. She didn't care- at all. She was annoyed. And she set the tone for the nurses there. Some nurses were great but many were not- they felt entitled to treat post partum moms like they were a burden, high maintenance and denied basic comforts and support . The chairs desperately need to be replaced. It's devastating to not be able to nurse your baby, hold your nicu baby, because the chair is so unbearably painful you can not sit in it. I was crushed, and so was my husband when we needed to be able to support our baby in fragile health, and something so minor like a chair could prevent you from taking care of your baby. The admin staff wouldn't remove the chair, provide accommodations or replace it. It was simply too expensive to replace the chairs, despite me receiving a $70,000 bill via my insurance for the hospital and nicu stay. Mind you, the bill wasn't just for doctors- it was for room and board. The price tag attached to a daily stay for what we experienced- was criminal. The chairs need to be replaced. You don't have the strength, energy or ability to stand with the level of exhaustion after a c section, they need to replace those chairs. Mothers should receive more support. It took me over a year to finally write this review. I thought maybe my hormones made me more upset than I should have been, but I still can't believe what we were put through here. And the lack of support for the doctors and nurses who have tried to express the need for adequate chairs for post partum moms to care for NICU babies. It's very sad. UCSD is a pretty hospital, but they truly have put aesthetic before the needs of patients, babies, mothers. It's disgusting.

I was checked out by several cardiologist and given a lot of tests and much blood was drawn. After several hours of this activity I was moved upstairs to a room and more tests and X-rays and blood was drawn. Slept well that night and woke up to more of the same and more of the staff Specialty Drs mostly. It was my heart shutting down and stopping at times. By that afternoon 2pm I was in surgery and had a new Pace-Maker. Slept good that night and was at home the next afternoon. Over a week later and I feel grate and love UCSD MS. The way they took care of me was more than I could have asked for and the Drs. And Staff were Excellent and gave me the best of care!j

At SD stem, dad received stem cells injections in low back, one knee, and via IV (as possible support for Parkinsons); he also received an enhanced form of PRP that included some IRAP in one knee. I can't say enough about how wonderful the SDstem staff was: PA Patrick was extremely informative and helpful about explaining the procedures and options, as well as being candid and realistic about prospects for improvement in one of dad's knees which is bone-on-bone. Office manager Kathy went above-and-beyond on several occasions for some special family needs and administrative matters (I wish the administrative staff at all my doctors were as nice as Kathy). On procedure day, Patrick was superb, and several additional staff members were on hand to help too. The entire team--from surgical tech Marilyn, to surgeon Dr. G who performed the fat harvesting portion of the procedure, was friendly and helpful. They made dad as comfortable as possible. I go to a number of specialized doctors myself, and I was impressed with the thorough, top-flight operation at SD Stem.

Used to be that rich people would go over to Germany to some fancy stem cell clinic. These under-the-radar treatment centers would offer people on their last health legs, stem cell therapy. Well, now here in San Diego, we have the new San Diego Stem Cell Treatment Center. Their website noted that "since 2013, top orthopedic surgeons have been using stem cell therapy to treat patients suffering from arthritis and other orthopaedic conditions." This is the first step in utilizing stem cells for health purposes, while more clinical research is done to see how to treat more complex illnesses like cancer and muscular dystrophy. SD Stem Cell Treatment Center now offers to treat hip, knee, shoulder or back pain by utilizing your own stem cells with minimally invasive procedures. (Probably big needles.) The website states that "Stem cell treatment offers the potential for millions of viable mesenchymal stem cells to differentiate into normal healing tissues and can be injected into painful joints, around painful tendons and ligaments and given as an IV for systemic use." Their stem cell treatments are done on Friday afternoons, which I figure, allows for the patient to use their weekend to rest and recover from the procedure. I called today and asked about what insurance, if any, this new business accepts as I would love some stem cells in my arthritic knees. Unfortunately, and the reason for deducting 1 YELP STAR for this business, is that it is CASH ONLY. And just to begin the treatment process costs $8,000. Which sounds like money well spent but I might have to wait until I hit the lottery to start the stem cells flowing.
