Recently, another…read moretax professional identified a potential error related to the depreciation claimed on my rental property...something I would not reasonably be able to catch or verify on my own as a non-accountant. When I reached out to the office for clarification, I was told it would cost an additional $250 just to review the return and address questions or corrections. I do not believe it is appropriate to charge a client to fix or explain a potential error made during the original preparation. What's more concerning is that I was told that because I reviewed and signed the return, they are not responsible for assisting further. This is unrealistic...clients rely on professionals for their expertise, especially for complex areas like depreciation, which are not easily understood or verified without specialized knowledge. This experience reflects very poor customer service and lack of accountability. I would not recommend this firm and would advise others to seek a preparer who stands behind their work.

He quoted me rough pricing to replace the panel and test the cables, but when I asked a simple question about his testing capabilities (e.g. does he use certified testers or basic continuity testers, do they verify signal integrity...): first he ignored the question saying text him pictures and the address and he'll get back to me. When I asked again, he got uncomfortably evasive and told me he wouldn't tell me how he worked! Really? Delusions of grandeur - like he was protecting trade secrets. I just wanted to know if he could do any better than what I had already done in testing the cables. I told him I wouldn't hire someone without knowing what capabilities I'd be paying for, so he said "It sounds like your fishing for information" and "Take care, Buddy". Big red flags.

Don't be swayed by them, who talk a good game because the dollars are pocketed to their advantage. I'm not a complainer but how many times do you have to state issues/concerns especially when everything was so blatant and spoken of at least once. It should've been recorded and corrected without further discussions, however not in my case, so I was aggravated that issues were not taken care of in a manner which I felt comfortable with by Accela Public Adjuster. Look, I get it that they (contractors etc.) all work together to get paid. No way ever would I recommend Accela Pubic Adjusting to anyone who may be in a situation where they really need help.
