The moment my family and I had to make a decision on a funeral home for our father it broke our hearts. Our father transitioned quite fast and at that moment we choose Frederich-Jones funeral home in Naperville il. At the time of death Friedrich- Jones appeared at the hospice facility fairly quick at around 1:00 am in the morning. The transition was flawless and Mike the funeral director was compassionate & consoling. As this was our first time planning a funeral the process was explained throughly and customized to fit our budget. The funeral was intimate and natural which our family loved. Everyone from Tom & Clayton exceeded our expections and that I am grateful for. One of the owners Stephanie gave her condolences which I appreciated. We miss our Dad immensely. How can a staple in Naperville only have 2 reviews? This had to have been a fabulous private home before it was converted to a funeral home. They have retained the beautiful woodwork as you enter. I did like that someone met us at the door, opened the door for us, and directed us to the viewing. It does look tired. As I looked around, I saw there were comfort stations located in the basement, but the only one on the first floor was single person only. That can get tricky unless personnel are there to direct people to another location. Also, it is in a residential area of Naperville, parking is limited. If the viewing you are attending is not the only viewing, just be aware. Parking in downtown Naperville is ALWAYS a pain. read more

Never in my life have I been so completely satisfied with a service that has been provided for my family, as I was with the beautiful visitation and funeral arrangements for my wife, Diane. Her death was completely unexpected, and I was caught quite off guard and in need of making arrangements for her. From the moment of the first phone call until her burial, every aspect of our preparations and the actual conducting of the visitation, transportation, funeral and burial were handled with understanding, respect and a willingness to satisfy every wish we had. Every member of the leadership and staff were understanding, professional, and great at anticipating and delivering every wish that we had. While funeral homes are not the happiest of things to review, Friedrich-Jones does deserve a pat on the back for the great job they do. Thankfully, I've only had to visit FJ enough times that I can still count on one hand. Recently attended a wake for a friend from the past, and the set up was beautiful. There was a significant amount of visitors and lots of room to accommodate everyone. I noticed while standing in line that there were books and activities for young children and plenty of seating for anyone that needed to take a break. There were also televisions around the area (I passed 2) that were playing a slideshow of pictures - a very nice touch. The employees of FJ greeted and directed guests in a very respectful manner and their demeanor was perfect, considering the occasion. read more

We did not have a good experience with this facility, and ended up not using their services. Our initial meeting went poorly, as we felt the salesperson was not listening to our wishes and imposed a regimented idea of what we should do. We felt pressure to obtain services that were probably not necessary. My family left feeling even worse than when we came in. The "nail in the coffin" however was when they posted the name of our family member misspelled on their website. read more

Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home handled the details of the funerals of both of my parents. Not only was each one as close to perfect as these things can get - the whole staff went out of their way - not only to help us through a difficult time - but to get us through much of the paperwork that one must deal with regarding the death of loved ones. They were like family - and even though some of the paperwork they helped us with had nothing to do with them receiving anything - they treated it - and us -as if it did. I am most grateful for and to all of them - and will be using them exclusively - without even considering going anywhere else in the future. I have been to numerous services here and the most caring and compassionate people work here. As soon as you enter the staff are welcoming and helpful. In the evenings parking is available behind at the elementary school. Stephanie is one of the most compassionate funeral directors I have ever met. Everything is done top rate from beginning to end. I could not disagree more with the previous review from Michelle E. I just buried my father today and had to come home to write this review praising Dave Jones and his staff for their excellent service. The funeral home ambiance is extremely comforting as it is located in a mansion built in 1850 and still offers the comfort and cozy feeling of someone's home. The staff bent over backwards to be accomodating. My dad was a WWII vet and Dave arranged for the local VFW and American Legion to conduct a"walkthrough" before we left for the Mass at SS Peter and Paul. Dave also arranged for the military to have two active Army members at the cemetery for the playing of Taps and the official flag folding. The staff was extremely considerate to us. They made extra space available to us when the need arose. They loaded, transported, reloaded, and retransported flowers to the church, cemetery, and back to the parlor. They allowed us to set up coffee and cookies in their office on the first floor for use by the elderly relatives who could not go down the stairs to the kitchen in the basement. We received many favorable comments from attendees about Friedrich-Jones. I would heartily recommend Friedrich-Jones to anyone, and would use them again in a minute. I am writing this review to hopefully help others who are suddenly in the sad position of planning funeral services for a loved one and having no clue whatsoever how to do it. The first place I called (big place in Wheaton) was absolutely awful. The woman was rude and annoyed - like she was impatient that I didn't know the various terms: "so are you saying you want a visitation or a service???" *Audible sigh* like "what a dummy, doesn't even know the difference!" After hanging up with her I felt honestly hopeless and even sadder than before. Was this how planning a funeral was going to feel? So I called the next place on my list, Friedrich-Jones in downtown Naperville and wow, what a difference. I spoke with Stephanie, one of the directors, and she was calming, kind and understanding. The prices that were quoted were the same as the other place (pretty much the same everywhere - high!) but the personal service was what set it apart. My mother and I went in later that day to meet and plan things in person - this time with John, who remained our main contact throughout the planning - and again, we left the interactions feeling calm and comforted. We ended up having a memorial style service about six weeks later (to give our family time to make travel plans) and John worked through all the details with me with such kindness and care - obituary, urn selection, choosing an officiant, accommodating live music and various other AV needs. Responsive at all times, and never felt put out by questions or requests. The space is very comfortable and homey (albeit in a funeral home style) and there's a great selection of toys in the kids' corner. I'd never want to have to plan something like this, but given the situation, Stephanie and John and their staff - lots of staff day-of - made this as pleasant and - again this word - comforting - an experience that it could be. Location is also great if people are coming from out of town - walkable to downtown Naperville, and close to lodging options in Cantera area, etc. I am grateful to these people for being there for us at such a hard time in our lives. read more

Stephanie helped us Pre-Plan our Mother's service and we learned so much from her. At every turn, this Funeral Home was wonderful. The man who came late in the night to pick up our Mother was very kind and very patience. John directed the services which were seamless and comforting. He was so compassionate, sincere and professional. The Naperville funeral home is lovely. Our Mother looked so beautiful.
