Beautiful, serene, well landscaped cemetery. It's especially resplendent in Autumn. I can't really evaluate the value because burials vary so much by region. Working with this organization has been so difficult. We had great service when we visited and selected a grave site and made a deposit. Then that person disappeared and would not reply to requests to set a burial date and complete the plaque. After several emails, texts, and two weeks later I was able to find someone who would help us. Also, I was never notified when the remainder of the payment was due. If I had not asked, the date would have passed and I would have been hit with a surcharge. When you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, this is not what you want to have to deal with. read more

The "Yay! I'm a fan" descriptor for a four-star rating doesn't quite accurately describe my sentiments about cemeteries in general, let alone this one. Still, I wholly appreciate the care that's clearly put into maintaining this resting place. After all, it's been a destination I've been coming at least once or twice a year for over fifteen years. Bronswood is perpetually serene. Just the drive in and through the magnificent crypts and tombs toward the entrance, then moving on to the simpler headstone-laden hills in the back is like passing into one's own Secret Garden. Albeit, one with lots of dead people buried in it. And near my own grandpa's grave hangs a set of lovely wind chimes, presumably to comfort and accompany the deceased baby nearby. Bronswood Cemetery, once owned by the Clarke family, has turned into a sad joke. Bargain basement sale signs scattered throughout this beautiful cemetery last spring; dry brown Christmas wreaths still placed on headstones as of today, March 23, 2019, and management who continues to blame "the weather" as the reason they have not been removed (wait, what?) rather than tell the truth, which is that they only send their grounds staff out three times a year so they can swap out the 4-month old dead stuff with the new stuff (and if you're not paying attention, you may pay for new flowers but not get them). Don't even get me started on the three different ridiculous stories I got from management, plus two staff members, as to why my father's planter disappeared from his headstone and took six weeks to rectify... The passing of a family member is sad enough. But the disrespect shown by Stonemor Corporation is not only sad, but disgusting. read more

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! We have had family buried at Bronswood Cemetery for many years and had been extremely happy. Sadly, the new owners, Stonemor Partners and their Bronswood management team, seem far less concerned with their bereaved clients than with their own profit margins. After pre-paying for my Mother's burial and site, my visit to discuss our graveside service details instead revolved entirely around upgrades, additional fees and what I could NOT do for my parents' grave sight; NO planting without approval; NO dealing with the grave marker company directly; NO chairs for our service; NO burial any later than 1:00pm on Saturday; NO burials on Sunday; NO promises that the grave would be cleaned up; NO unapproved stone container for cremains; NO promises there would be grass on the muddy grave sight; NO promise the grounds people would have time to return the planter, (removed for unknown reasons after twenty-two years;) NO they would not clean the area adjacent to our graves, "not their property," though it was clearly Bronswood's cemetery debris; ...and so on. Management had a full month to prepare for our service, much longer than is customary. I filed three work orders during that month for clean-up of our muddy, ill-kept grave area that were completely ignored. My request to have my father's headstone polished was also ignored, though I offered to pay for the service. As a sixty-five-year-old woman, I arrived days before our committal service to plant pansies. Instead, I was left alone to clean Bronswood's plant debris, branches and garbage away from the grave sight area for over four hours in order to ready it for our family's service. Management refused to have grounds people help and refused to dispose of the debris. Manager Bob Harrington's customer service was extremely poor, obstructionist and rude. The only employee I encountered who was sensitive and proactive was Kathy Ciarrachi. It was our loss that she was out of town during most of my preparations. It was sad enough to say goodbye to my Mother. Having to do it under inhospitable circumstances, in what had been for many years a place of peace, refuge and reflection, was unforgivable. My advice...? Unless you have a thick skin, a fat wallet, a pair of overalls and carry your own tools, think hard about alternatives to Bronswood Cemetery. ...or be prepared to roll up your sleeves. read more

Horrible horrible customer service! Paid $190 in May for planters and flowers for my husband's and mom's grave. They were never put out, called several times, then was promised they would be put out in the fall winter instead. That did not happen either. Have called and contacted them over 20 times asking for a refund, was told manager would reach out and they never did. Still waiting for a response. $190 may not be a lot but how many other people are they taking advantage of? And this is a cemetary, where people who associate with them are dealing with loss of loved ones. Terrible! read more

Everyone is amazing at Bronswood Cemetery especially Jim Abraham. I work in Oak Brook and I stopped by Bronswood Cemetery and spoke with Jim Abraham about vases for my parents. Jim was able to get me vases and had someone place them on my family monument before mothers day. Jim made it a special surprise for me....it was the best present for Mother's Day. My update to my previously terrible review. I understand the cemetery still has the same (huge) corporate ownership, but is at least under new management. I did have to complain again about flowers not being put on the grave that had been paid for, and the lack of upkeep on one of the graves. However, these items were taken care of after I brought it to the new management's attention. However, I feel badly for the people who can't constantly check on family member's graves to make sure they are being well maintained. That said, I do see some improvement, so I have upgraded my review. Hoping things continue to improve. read more

Death is never five stars, but I gave four stars to show appreciation for the professional and caring service our family experienced there upon the death of our father. We were all completely new to this experience so we were thankful to the gentleman who assisted us during the process (Jim Abraham). His kindness even brought out a few smiles as he thoughtfully got us to talk about our dad and share his memories throughout the whole thing. It was good practice for us afterwards, too. There were a lot of choices and options that we never even knew about and Jim patiently took us through them. Even though I'd heard it can get very expensive, the prices seemed fair. Bronswood has impeccable customer service. We worked with Bob, and I don't have sufficient words to describe how wonderful he was to my family. My father passed away unexpectedly, and this was a very difficult time for us, but Bob did what he could to make it easier on us. He was calm, compassionate, polite, and caring. The cemetery itself is beautiful, well-kept, and peaceful. We also decided to do pre-planning for my mother, and it is a comfort to know that when the time comes, everything will be exactly the way she wanted. I strongly recommend Bronswood. read more

We had not been back to my fathers grave in three years as none of family live in state any longer. The day we arrived my two brothers myself, our mom and 3 grandchildren all were there to pay our respects. . What we found was awful. Granted it had rained the day before and ground was muddy but when we got to our fathers site it was totally under water . We could not go near it because of the water. There were two other grave makers under water also. The other graves were damp but no water sitting over them. My mom who is 94 was in tears. Still a week later she is extremely upset We did talk to the office and they promised it would be corrected . They said ever since the homes behind had been built there had been problems. Since we are in GA and CA we will not know if fixed. We inquired about moving the grave maker but the fee is quite high My dad was cremated and put in the ground thirty years ago so I know his ashes more than likely are no longer there. But they say the soil is saceret ground but when it is a pond when it rains I don't see how. All the soil washes away. They promised to send pictures when fixed. Only time will tell. I feel since they have known some time that this was a problem , I think they said several years why has it not been addressed before we came in read more
