Lola preparing for a Pilates workout!

We got Lola (our F1B goldendoodle) in November 2015. She was 5 months old. This was after we got Chase, our yellow lab (retired from breeding) and my in laws got Sophie (also a goldendoodle) in 2013 from Sarah. Sarah was friendly, the kennels were kept clean and the puppies all seemed very energetic and happy. We chose Lola for her laid back demeanor....and we chose right. She is the perfect pet. Great with our other adult dogs and 2 cats....plus we just added a Portuguese Water Dog puppy to the mix and she's enjoying her like she's a puppy again. We are very happy with our experiences with Sarah and we will pick another puppy from her, when the time is right.

There are not enough good things to say about Calvin, our Standard Goldendoodle puppy. He is intelligent, well-mannered, perfectly healthy, and absolutely adorable! Sarah Peaster and her family produce great Doodles at a reasonable price. She is so easy to work with and genuinely cares about the families her puppies go to. Our family friend even purchased a female Medium Goldendoodle with us after quickly falling in love when visiting her home. I cannot wait to see our puppy grow into a stunning dog, with a awesome personality. If you want to see more reviews for Friendly Acre Farms I highly suggest you go to Puppyfind.com and look up Sarah Peaster. She has pages of fabulous five star reviews from many other happy owners! Thanks again to the Peaster family for a wonderful dog. We look forward to many healthy and happy years with our puppy!

We love Kristofferson (formerly Benji). We received Kristofferson when he was 12 weeks old. I've waited until he was 9 months old to write this review to be sure of no issues. And... no issues! He's the friendliest dog I've ever seen. He loves kids and other dogs. Strangers will stop me and ask to get a picture with him (very strange). We'd use Sarah Peaster again and recommend her to all of our friends.

Ours was Makaylah (also mentioned as sub-par in other reviews here). Special shoutout to the smarmy manager who, previous to our conversation, I heard mocking a man who just had to return something because his cat died, and the "manager" was laughing about it with fellow employees. Real class, dude. The basic gist is we paid for our large breed dog grooming, and when they brought him out, we immediately noticed they hadn't trimmed his ears and knots were hanging off (hack-job?) Then I looked inside, and they hadn't even cleaned his ears (which they had proudly checked off on his discharge papers). His back end also looked uneven, like they hadn't finished brushing him when they tried to trim him? His feet were neatly done. We showed the gal who brought him out, and she seemed to agree, but offered no apology and said we'd have to wait another 35 minutes for someone to come back from lunch (though it would've taken her 5 minutes, tops, right then). Fast forward post-lunch, and rather than apologizing, she tried to gaslight us by saying, "well, you didn't ask for us to do his ears," and I'm like, "you literally checked it off as done." More shenanigans, and the smarmy manager who'd been watching us waiting approached during lunch and also tried to mansplain dog grooming to us. "Well, you have to tell us what you want done," and I'm thinking, do I have to tell McDonald's how to make a hamburger?! You all do grooming as a business, and there should be a standard of training that people go through before working on animals and a set list of things they do. We weren't even asking for a refund or trying to remove the tip. But a "my bad" would've gone a long way. And a "let me fix my mistake real quick" would've gone further. But no accountability and a crappy manager who wouldn't leave it alone and walk away when we were done talking about it means we will NEVER go back or give this company any money. So, now you've been warned. If you choose to go there, be sure to have a full checklist including "wash dog with shampoo" and "brush all 4 of his legs" and then go over the list with a red Sharpie before you pay.

Parking is never an issue but there are a TON of signs stating to not leave your belongings in the car if so, you're taking a risk. I've never had an issues but I usually am just in and out (not the burger but you know) They have a good selection when it comes to pet supplies. We've been in for both our pups and our fish. They have a variety of fish in the back - (fresh and salt water) along with all the tank supplies. Take a look at their NFS tank - it's always filled with cool fish. They have an awesome selection of dog treats/food. The dog food is located in a separate section of the store - hard right when you enter & through another doorway. What keeps me coming back is the staff. On one visit, a cashier let me know a brand I'd been buying had gone downhill in quality and handed me samples of her top picks. That kind of honest, helpful advice is hard to find. The checkout area also tends to have timely impulse buys (hello, 4th of July calming chews) that actually come in handy. Great neighborhood pet shop with knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!

Rachael and David, who I believe may be the owners, or at the very least managers (along with their staff), are always friendly, inviting and extremely knowledgeable about animals and what food, or toys may be best for your pet based on your circumstances. They are always inviting and willing to help. I have also found that the pet food products they carry are typically healthier for your pet, more so than you may find at the big chains and box stores. The quality and price points of the pet food are fair and they often times have promotions and discounts. Many of the promotions are buy 12 and get your next one free (ie; bag or case of food etc.). Also, on weekends they have vaccination clinics and sometimes adoption events. They even have a dog wash inside. Check with the store to find out when and how often the Vaccine clinics, pet adoptions and dog wash is available. This place is located in Modesto, in a shopping center that looks like an old western town (corner of Tully and Standiford). Bottom line, I am glad to have found a personable store for all my pets' needs and to be able to help support a local small business.
