I went in today looking for some Cory cat fish and fresh water plants. Found both. Their staff were ALL so friendly and ready to help. Lime waited on me and she was sweet and friendly. And I was impressed at how nice and clean their aquariums were. And how professional and healthy they keep their Beta section! Not in tiny cups but actual little filtered tanks with almond leaves which is why the water is tanin colored. GOOD JOB CARTER'S! We only have 3 choices in Manteca for Aquarium lived fish and plants. I absolutely love this place. My go to Pet store. I absolutely love the sense of community of this store and the selection of products. I bring my Siberian Husky Jack there all the time for his food, snacks, etc. Everyone here has been extremely helpful to us every time we go here. 2 of the employees, I think her name is Ashley & Ryan have been helped me out so much suggesting the best food & supplements for my dog (who's incredibly picky about his food). Their suggestions have always been home runs & never disappointed. The only thing I wish this place carried is the honest kitchen whole food beef crumbles that I go buy at PetSmart, but it's all good because 95 percent of my dogs food comes from this store. It's small but packed with pet stuff, staff is always friendly, and I always took my dog there when he needed his Parvo vax or rabies shot. I'd say their prices are high but isn't everything else? I remember paying 55 cents for a pack of cigarettes when I was in high school, from a cigarette vending machine. That said, I prefer supporting a small independent company rather than a large chain pet store. I just wish I hadn't spent $86 for a bottle of CBD for my dog that had to be put to sleep because of a brain tumor that same evening. Vet charges $200-300 for some mass cremation where I'd guess a big pile of pets gets unceremoniously dumped at a local landfill. So instead we paid them $600 for my dog to eventually come home in a jar or box or something to that effect. I'm hoping that trip would be my last trip to a vet, but my macaw is 34 years old now, hopefully I die before he does, I'd really prefer not to though this again. read more

Carter's Pet Mart has always been my go to store when living in Stockton. I moved to Manteca/Lathrop area so now I come to this location but I'm not enjoying my experience every time I come here. I've noticed most of the employees are super friendly and helpful but there is one in particular who is very rude and acts like she doesn't want you at her register. I willingly drive the extra miles to the one in Stockton bc I don't have time for this kind of energy... I mean it's a pet store how bad can it be? Lol read more

I just went to take my 9 month old pup to get her nails trimmed. One of the employees named Mo cut her nails and she was very patient with my dog and did an excellent job. And if anyone wants to set an appointment with them for nail trimming for their dogs, you just have to call the day of between hours of 1230 to 430. I recommend this store to anyone who has pets plus they have a great selection of things for pets. read more

I stopped by while visiting the area, hoping to explore some shops, and the staff here was lovely. I was greeted the moment I walked through the door, and with such a warm smile too--it really made a difference. Unfortunately, there was a rather unpleasant woman named Kathy at the front, speaking quite harshly to one of the young employees. Poor thing--she clearly knew her stuff, especially when it came to cats, and handled the situation with grace. I needed cat carriers to take my cats to the vet. I went to Carter's, and one of the employees took the time to take down the carriers from a top shelf. She was very helpful and didn't mind when I asked for 4 different carriers to be taken down. I only needed to buy 2 carriers, but I wanted one that could be a backpack and another on wheels for my largest cat. The employee also let me know that if I was ok with doing two different transactions, the store had a coupon for $10 off a $60 or more purchase, and they'd let me use the coupon for each carrier in separate transactions. I was very happy with the customer service and the time the employee took to help me find the carriers I wanted. All of the carriers were nice, and I was able to choose the 2 I wanted. The employees are always kind and informative at Carter's Manteca. I'm glad to shop here for my pets. read more

I stopped into "Carter's Pet Mart" today to pick up some "greenies" for my toy poodle. I walked up to the door unaware that I was 6 minutes late pass closing time. I love shopping at Carters for fishes because they have great selection of fish that other stores dont have. Ive been a customer here for a very long time and always buy my fishes here. All the staff has always been very nice and welcoming except for monday this employee named Jenn was very rude. I asked her for a couple of fish and she gave me a stare and look as if she hated her job. She gave me the bag with fish very aggressively. On top of that it was leaking and she didn't even care. I gave it another shot 3 weeks later and it was a whole different experience! Everyone was treating me really well and made me feel welcomed. Jenn was very nice and helpful! Dakota was great aswell!
