I went to Friendly to get an oil change. I got there, the atmosphere was good and I checked in with the technician. The technician said he would be happy to help and guided me to the waiting room. I waited about 30 minutes or so, he came back, and said my wheels were out of alignment. He proceeded to show me a graph showing how the wheels were leaning. I told him to go ahead and do it. He left and returned an hour later having it done. I was a bit frustrated that it took so long, but I was happy that I would have the Chevrolet quality working on it... least so I thought. The horror in this story was that, when they aligned it, they had the wheel tilted to the right. So, when I drive at high speeds, I have to make sure that the wheel steering to the right. The car did handle better, I will give them that. But, so much for quality. This Chevrolet dealer had great service, heck, maybe even excelled. But the quality of the repair was mediocre. I spent an hour and a half to two hours at the dealer and to have them rush, rush, rush to get to the next customer, not even caring about the job they did, really burns me. People have to live with the work they do, they have to work to get the money to spend there(I dropped $100 more when I was only expecting to drop $40) and if they aren't going to do it right, why would anyone go back? read more

After our daughter's car was damaged in a vehicle crash - not the at fault driver, Kim's Auto Body completed the repairs. It was subsequently taken to Friendly Chevrolet to complete engine related work, including replacing the gear shift assembly. When our vehicle was returned, the driver's side heat control/heated seat knob had been broken. It was not immediately discovered, as the car was driven home without having to adjust the temperature. The next time it was driven, the broken knob was discovered. Chevrolet advised we couldn't prove they broke it - advising they had not worked inside the vehicle near the knob, so they would not fix it. Kim's Auto Body confirmed the knob (and the subsequently discovered tool mark damage to the interior of the vehicle) were not present when the vehicle had been taken to Chevrolet. Kim's contacted Chevrolet to confirm that fact and was told the same thing - we could not prove they had broken or caused any damage. After leaving messages, the Service Manager finally returned our call, only to advise he could not locate any info regarding the repair. After calling and leaving a message with the invoice information, another day has passed with no resolution. In the meantime, I contacted another Chevrolet Dealership - advised them of the situation, and they explained the procedure for the repair, which included removing the under the dash and connecting center console plastic cover on both driver and passenger side in order for the repair person to get to the connections needed to both remove, then to install the new gear shift (thus the tool marks), the trim (which surrounds the knob they were "nowhere near," as well as dismantle the entire center console - all contrary to what we were told when they advised they were not inside the vehicle or near the broken knob. The inside of the vehicle was not damaged prior to being taken to Friendly - and the fact that they lied and told us we couldn't prove anything, so they weren't going to fix the vehicle was reprehensible. I wasn't aware I needed to photograph the inside of the vehicle or install a video camera to ensure damage would not be done to the vehicle while in their possession. If your car needs repaired, take it to Decatur or Lincoln - where it will be fixed properly without being damaged. No one should have to prove their vehicle was damaged when the repairs done were right where the damage took place. read more

Friendly always gets me in for work on my vehicles whenever I need it. They do the work in a timely matter and are always accurate when working on my vehicles. I have never had an issue here. Last year I went to order a brand new car, I was basically laughed at while he was taking down my information, in which he never even asked me what color car I wanted. A year later I am taking my car, purchased through a different dealership, to get serviced. I have spent several hours a day on hold while trying to reach the service department, they "fixed" my car only for it to have the same issues the next day. Went in because a check engine light was on. They told me I needed a new battery and then they quoted me a figure that, when I compared elsewhere, was $40 more. So, I called Friendly and said I'd take it elsewhere, and they said okay. I was disappointed that nobody told me, when I said I'd get a battery elsewhere, that Friendly was then going to charge me $40 for the visit (to identify the problem). If I'd known that, I would have gotten the battery from Friendly. Instead, I was given a quote that someone else could beat -- but then I had to pay Friendly $40 too, so I spent more out of pocket (plus time) than I would have just using Friendly. read more

I was having "Friendly" Chevrolet order cut and program a key for me. Ken in their parts department assured me multiple times that the bill would be $41.87. I knew this number was low so I asked him how much the program would cost, I figured the $41.87 was just for the key. Ken told me that the programming would be free because of the way they were able to do it with that key type. after being assured 3 times that $41.87 was the only price I'd ever see I asked them to go ahead and do the work. Yesterday I got a bill for $157.46 (more than 3 times the guaranteed price). Ken in parts says it's services fault, George in service says it's parts fault. No one will get me to a manager as they've all be "unavailable" for the past 2 days. I absolutely would not recommend this dealerships in any way. read more

I heard mixed reviews about this dealership, but I decided to give them a try because of their Lifetime warranty, wich no one else offers. I came in and was greeted by a salesman named Bart or "Jersey" who was very nice and honest! He showed me a few trucks and found me the one I fell in love with. The numbers were easy and fair, and the finance guy Andrew was also very nice and helpful to work with. If I could give zero stars, I would. Our Traverse has been in their service department since July 1st when our transmission went out 6 hours into a 12 trip to Kansas to pick out daughter up. We were first promised the vehicle on July 5th, but whoops the wrong parts were delivered. Sorry, the parts won't be here till July 10th. July 12th we get a call saying the vehicle was put back together but their "certified tech" did NOT clean out the transmission filter, which means metal debris was back in the transmission. July 14 we get a call saying the vehicle was put back together, and lo and behold, it DOES NOT HAVE REVERSE! It had reverse when we dropped it off. That was Friday, it is now Wednesday(19 day of them having our vehicle), the dealership called to say that there is again metal debris in the transmission, looks like we are starting from the beginning again! When(if) we get out vehicle back, we have to drive 6 hours to our home. Needless to say, I have ZERO confidence this vehicle will make it all the way home with the transmission still in working condition read more

My wife and I were there about a month ago looking to buy a 2nd vehicle. We spoke to a salesperson named Sean Farris. He went on and on about how hard he was going to work to get us that car and told us that we should have an answer after a couple of days. Well, that came and went with no word from him, then a week, and now its been about a month. After a week with no word from him however, we went elsewhere and bought a car and got a way better deal than they had offered for theirs to begin with. I would not recommend their "certified service" to anyone. Go somewhere else! I went to Friendly Chevrolet specifically because they were a "certified" service dealership - their service was anything but certified. I went in for a check engine soon light reading "Reduced Engine Power." They did not offer me a tow, shuttle was not speedy. I spent $1400 to have my timing chain adjusted and some other work done. THREE DAYS LATER the exact same problem happened. When I called, no one was able to help me. No one ever accepted responsibility for their quality of work and the fact that their $1400 service lasted for THREE DAYS. I then had to spend another $500 to get the throttle body fixed (at a different dealership - thank goodness). I believe they took advantage of me because am a female and do not know about cars, and as a lifelong Chevrolet owner, were very upset with their customer service and lack of responsibility taken for their actions. I would never recommend them to anyone and will never go back myself - unless you like spending $1400 on something that will break 3 days later and they will not accept responsibility or stand behind their "ensured" service. I was looking for a good used car and visited this dealership. My first mistake. My second was letting the salesman push me into buying a car that was much more than I wanted to spend and added the extended warranty and GAP insurance telling me it was mandatory. He used my less than perfect credit score to intimidate me and continuously stated that HE and HE alone was the only salesman in Springfield area that could get me into any car loan but that it HAD TO BE THIS CAR. I won't even go into everything I had to deal with, I will just say that if you are looking for an honest salesperson, a reasonable deal, and a good car please steer clear of this dealership. I for one will NEVER step foot in this business again. There are too many others to choose from and this one is a big rip off!!
