Chris quoted me a fair price and within an hour he was at my apartment replacing my starter on my Dodge Ram. Highly recommended!

My money is gone, no response, no text messages, no phone calls. My $190 is gone. Be careful.

I heard no weird noise but to be safe went to see them. They checked it out and said to let that guy know that the only noise my car makes is the normal noise a manual transmission makes when in reverse at 5 mph or higher! Great guys. And no charge!

Very honest too! I found $15 in the cup holder and thought THEY left it by mistake. They said it was there when they got the car and didn't touch it. I had a catastrophic transmission failure (stuck in 1st gear) and several codes that indicated mechanical failure. I know my way under the hood (rebuilt my first engine at 15 and went on to study engineering), but for automatic transmissions you NEED a shop that has the right people ... this is the place! I called shops from Richardson to Frisco, and most suggested replacement with a rebuilt unit but there was a backlog in replacement units that was 3 months out. Not a problem for The Transmission Shop, they had rebuilt several identical units and their builder was familiar with my model. They rebuilt it, and took several test drives, made minor adjustments till they were confident I would be happy. The repair took a little longer than originally thought, but Julio texted me updates throughout the process and explained what the issue were as they found them. The Transmission Shop is where you want to bring your vehicle. signed: One Very Picky Happy Customer

It is refreshing to find a shop that values professional standards and respects a client's time. Here is why I recommend them: Professionalism: The service team is sharp and treats you with respect from the moment you walk in. Efficiency: They set a clear timeline for the work and actually met it. No waiting around or wondering about the status. Fair Pricing: They are honest about the costs. The pricing was fair and aligns with the quality of service provided. If you are looking for a shop that operates with integrity and does exactly what they say they will do, look no further. This team has earned my future business.

Turns out it was the water pump, and it was throwing a code for the fan clutch, so he suggested I replace that as well - since it had to come off to get the new water pump in anyway. The new fan clutch was unbalanced and failed after driving for a day, ripping its own harness off, causing a short that prevented the vehicle from starting once I arrived home. I called and talked to Elite Performance, and they had my vehicle towed back in to repair it. They switched to another brand of fan clutch and replaced it at no charge. Stand-up guys! I will be taking it back to get the engine tuned soon.

When my car started shuddering on acceleration, I got concerned. I took it to my local auto repair…read moreand after an engine diagnosis, I was referred to Eagle Transmissions in McKinney. I met with the Manager, David Phelps who agreed to do a free half-day evaluation. I was looking at a large transmission repair bill, until Dave called me and told me it was a much smaller problem that did not involve the transmission. Furthermore, he called my local auto repair shop and explained what needed to be done. The bill after such excellent service? $0! As I have little expertise in auto repair (and none with transmissions), I rely on experts. It is absolutely excellent when you work with someone with such high ethics as Dave at Eagle Trans in McKinney. Had he told me I needed to spend thousands to fix my transmission, I would have done it. Instead, they determined that the problem was much smaller and facilitated it getting fixed and charged me nothing. It is with the highest confidence that I would recommend Eagle Transmission of McKinney to you - ask for Dave, you simply can't do better.

The truck ended up needing significant work, including a new transmission, front-end suspension issues, a steering column, and a variety of other items. What really impressed me, though, was the integrity and honesty of the team at Fifth Gear. Instead of just pushing me to authorize a huge repair bill, they had a genuine conversation with me about whether it made sense to invest that much into such an old vehicle. Their advice wasn't about making a quick buck--it was about what was genuinely best for me and my brother's truck, which he depends on for his work. That level of transparency and character is something you don't always find, and it's exactly why I'll be recommending Fifth Gear Automotive to anyone who asks. Even though we ultimately decided not to proceed with the repairs, they've earned my trust and future business. Kudos to the team for their professionalism and integrity!

The work and service were both rough:…read more Work - the car was pulled out and ready to hand over to me, even without checking all the lights that were still on (engine, brake, etc). I had to go find them again to scan the system to cancel the lights. And they said the "lights were on when they got the car." I told them that's why I reached out and offered business. Wasn't it their job to wrap it up before saying the car is ready? Service - I chose them because they said they offer the service to send the car back to me without me having to show up there. And it was communicated that they could have the car fixed within the day. It was discounted after they got the car, saying they didn't even have the parts ready by the end of the day and that they had to wait one more day. Plus, they told me they could only Uber me to their plant to pick up the car instead of sending it back to me. They should not OVERPROMISE on such supporting services as the customer chose them for the sake of time. It turned out I had to cancel lots of errands, which would have been totally avoidable if they had been upfront and decent from the beginning and throughout the service. I gave them two stars instead of one only because the manager showed a good attitude and admitted that they should have done a better job. Anyway, the experience was NOT pleasant.
