They really care about you. I had an appt to get my tooth extracted and after talking more with the assistant I switched to root canal (which was completely painless) and crown. Dr. Mamo is great. I visited Dr Mamo in search of a second opinion regarding a tooth, that I was advised needed to be rebuilt or extracted. He completely agreed with the original diagnosis but he took additional time to describe my options, including cost. I ended up having the tooth extracted and I have to say, it was a piece of cake. On the day of extraction, Dr Mamo let me know what would be happening every step of the way and his technician clearly outlined my after care verbally and on paper. We have just moved to Florida and it is so stressful finding new doctors. I called and Robin was so sweet and when my husband and I arrived for our appointments everyone was just as great. They have a massage chair and I watched videos and it was actually relaxing. The dentist did my initial cleaning which apparently what he does so he can spend one on one time with new patients. They give you a goody bag with dental items when you leave. The dental assistant was super sweet, I loved it and even my husband who hates going to the dentist loved it too. After a horrible experience many years ago I had avoided the dentist out of fear and anxiety. Broke a tooth and contacted The Friendly Dental office and explained my fear and anxiety - after assuring me that Dr Mamo does not pass judgment (and he doesnt) and that he and the entire staff provide care and compassion ) and they do. He and his team put me at ease immediately and it's hard to explain all the little touches to make sure I was comfortable and engaged during my root canal. Generally I like the staff and Dr. Mamo. Feel they are very knowledgeable and strive to make sure that you are comfortable during your dental work visits. Was not so pleased with my last scheduled cleaning which was covered by my insurance. Upon arrival, my dental technician simply said " let's go get a panoramic X-ray" and I did get the panoramic X-ray. They also took the standard X-rays before completing the cleaning. At checkout I was charged $70 for the panoramic X-ray (insurance covered remainder of the visit). I was not informed of the additional cost of this X-ray nor was I given the option to forgo the purchase. I just felt like it was an unnecessary expense and that I should have been made aware of the $70 charge for the service. read more

I been to his office several years back and recently returned because of a tooth that I might possibly need a root canal... long story short, he is gentle, patient, understanding, kind and reasonable. I recommend him over and over. His staff is just as kind, patient and understanding to the fears one has when it comes to their teeth and mouth. Consultation for my cavities' did not include any pressure for root canals and they let me know all my options. The assistants were so sweet and really really made me comfortable but I was most impressed with the Dentists mastery and confidence in pulling my tooth. He did a great job and I want to thank him. I have been going to "Friendly Dental" for about 10 years. It was great for a long time . . . but now in the new location with different people not so much. I went today for a cleaning and the hygienist started out with things I needed to get besides the cleaning. When I said I only wanted the cleaning she was rude and said I had to get a fluoride treatment, and a measurement of my gum recession and if I didn't she could lose her license for not doing these things. I told her this was my last time coming there because they decided not to take my insurance anymore. What's the point of checking my gum measurement if you can't compare them at the next visit? When I told her that my usual hygienist Jackie (love Jackie) didn't make me get those things she said "Jackie wasn't doing her job correctly". Wow, saying that an employee of the company she works for doesn't do her job as she should to a patient? Anyway I got up and left without getting my cleaning. I am not a young man so some of these things seem unnecessary since I have never had a cavity in my life. Friendly Dental employees need to go outside to the front of the building, look up and read the name of the place . . . maybe the service will improve? read more

No bs, this was the BEST dental experience I've ever had. The receptionist and the hygienists were an absolute pleasure, then they asked me if I wanted a massage. I was like, are you serious? As I'm enjoying my massage this person who looks like a Brooklyn hipster walks into the room and introduces himself as Dr. Mamo. Friendly dental did a great job cleaning my teeth, they looked fantastic when I left!! They also did X-rays of my teeth and jaw, Fluoride, polish, floss, and gum/bone depth gauging! Some things that made this visit even better were the massage option in the chair and the big screen tv to keep me occupied while the team was working. My wife and I stopped our Dental insurance and decided to find a dentist with fair charges and just pay for services rendered. We stopped by Friendly Dental and found that they have a plan for folks just like us. It will provide exams, cleanings and xrays for about 1/2 the price of the insurance we were paying before for a very basic group rate insurance plan. So financially it is a good deal. I checked other dentists and while they might have a drastically reduced introductory rate, you will pay much more later. We went today and came away even more excited that we had made the right decision. First you would expect everyone to be friendly if they call themselves Friendly Dental, and they were. Next, their dental chairs are new, with a nice plush feel and they have vibrating massagers in the chairs which help you relax. You can set them to your desired level. They have large television displays in the rooms that played soft music and had pictures of landscapes and sea animals and other cool looking stuff - again another way of helping you relax and feel comfortable. They did the xrays, the exam and the cleaning using all the tools we have been accustomed to. The dentist, Dr Mamo, answered my questions and did not seem in a hurry. Their hygiene practices looked to be very good and they offered a warm towel after to wash your face. They provided a gift bag with lip balm, toothpaste, toothbrush, a tumbler with their name on it and floss. The only thing missing was candy. lol.
