Unfortunately, this was not the experience we were hoping for. The best part of our visit was…read moreeasily the views, which are beautiful, but nearly every other aspect of the experience was disappointing. First, our group of three was informed that a mandatory 20% large group service charge would be added, which felt surprising considering the level of service we ultimately received. After waiting over an hour for our food, we had to go find someone ourselves to ask about it because no staff members were walking around checking on tables or updating guests. It turned out our order seemed to have been missed entirely, and we were then told it would take another 15 minutes. We also noticed multiple groups around us waiting around the same amount of time for food, so this clearly was not an isolated issue. While we understand it was Memorial Day weekend and likely busy, we would hope the winery would anticipate and staff appropriately for holiday traffic. When the food finally arrived, the pizza was undercooked and lacked flavor, and the chicken Caesar salad tasted very basic and prepackaged. For the prices, the food quality and service fell well below expectations. The setting and atmosphere itself are beautiful, but the service and food quality need significant improvement before we would consider returning or recommending this winery to others. We felt it was important to share our experience in hopes that this feedback leads to meaningful improvements for future guests.

It was a far distance to travel from where we live but very much worth it. What a cute winery with beautiful views of the mountains. It's a very relaxing environment. They had a couple of cute, tiny, winery kittens that they had just gotten. They were adorable to watch roaming around the premises. Their wines are good, so again, worth driving the distance and we will drive the distance again. They offer food as well. We ordered pizza and a charcuterie board with chocolates and cheeses. The service was very good. The ladies were very nice and helpful. If you are in Oregon and would like to go wine tasting, this is definitely a winery to check out.

We did the white flight, a glass of Rose and a glass of Riesling. We enjoyed several of their wines and love that they have such a varied selection. The worst service!!! I went there tonight and was served by a guy named Parker. When we sat down,…read morehe walked up and I informed him we were members. Instead of telling us what options we had he said what do you want. I told him I didn't know what the different flights were and asked what our membership included. He then seemed annoyed and walked away to grab a menu. When he came back to pour our glass, he didn't even tell us what he was pouring into each of our glasses. He just poured the flight and walked away. When I asked for my fourth pour, he said "I already gave you a four pour. I informed him he did not, but he just argued and insisted I was wrong and said here's your bill. We were planning to order another glass but he didn't not give us the option. I then asked to pick up my shipment but said I could once I paid for my little snack tray. This guy was the worst server I have ever encountered and should not be working here. It wasn't like he was busy at all. We were the only people in the whole place.

She shared the history of the Riedel glassware company and explained how the shape of each of the four glasses changes the aroma and flavor of the same wine. It was fascinating to experience the difference firsthand. Ashley was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly patient with our group, even when we got a little chatty and wandered off topic. She made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. The charcuterie board was more than enough for the two of us, and every wine we sampled, from the bubbles to the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and final bottle of Cabernet, was an excellent selection. This was something completely different from a typical wine tasting, and we really enjoyed it. I already have several friends in mind who I think would love this experience. I hope Willamette Valley Vineyards considers making the Riedel Glassware Experience a regular offering!

Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and did not rush us through our meal. We prefer to eat and drink leisurely, with conversation, food, and wine framing the evening. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.
