In the days that followed, we returned to finalize the arrangements and had the privilege of being assisted by Charian, Matthew, and Alex. Each of them was kind, patient, supportive, and incredibly thoughtful throughout this painful process. I asked Charian if it would be possible for us to visit my mother in law one more time before returning to California, and she went above and beyond to make that happen. Most importantly, my mother in law was treated with respect, kindness, and dignity, which meant everything to our family. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and Charian is coordinating the arrangements for her to be delivered to us in California. Matthew went out of his way to console my husband and offered him words of comfort and strength during an incredibly difficult time. Alex was also attentive and professional, ensuring that every detail was handled smoothly and respectfully. In addition to the exceptional care we received, the pricing was very reasonable and transparent, which brought us peace of mind during such an overwhelming time. Our experience was nothing short of excellent. I highly recommend Memorial Park Funeral to anyone facing a difficult situation, especially when your highest priority is ensuring your loved one is treated with the respect and care they deserve. Thank you, Memorial Park Funeral, for your compassion and support during this challenging time.

So many beautiful older gravestones. This cemetery is packed full of interesting characters…read moreincluding William Faulkner. We spent a little over 2 hours exploring the grounds. "Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Do not bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself."- William Faulkner Faulkner's name was originally spelled "Falkner." He added the "u" to make his name sound British. It was all a ploy to join the Royal Air Force in Canada during World War I because, at only 5'5", he was too short to join the U.S. Army Air Corps. While in Hollywood (several of his books were turned into movies), Faulkner met Clark Gable. When asked to name the greatest writers of the time, Faulkner listed Ernest Hemingway, Willa Cather, Thomas Mann, John Dos Passos, and himself. Gable turned to him and asked, "Oh, do you write?" "Yes, Mr. Gable," Faulkner responded. "And what do you do?" In 1962, President John F. Kennedy invited some Nobel Prize winners to dinner at the White House. Though invited, Faulkner, who was in Richmond, Virginia at the time, didn't make the trip. The reason he gave for snubbing the President's invitation? "Sixty miles is a very long distance to go for a meal." Faulkner never graduated from high school or earned a college degree, yet he won the Nobel Prize for Literature, two Pulitzer prizes and the National Book Award, twice. William Faulkner enjoyed drinking Four Roses Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Jack Daniel's. His cocktail of choice was a mint julep. Author Shelby Foote had invited Faulkner to the 90th anniversary of the battle of Shiloh. Foote was at a loss as to how to get some whiskey since it was a Sunday. Faulkner saw a man getting his shoes shined and reasoned, "anybody getting his shoes shined on Sunday morning would know where it was." Sure enough the man replied, "Well, I was fixing to go out there myself. If you could give me a ride, I'll show you the way." And before long they had themselves a pint of Old Taylor and some Cokes for chasers. Faulkner also had a special "medicinal" Hot Toddy cocktail for colder temps, when he or one of his relatives was under the weather. Heaven Hill bourbon (the Jack Daniel's was reserved for only his ailments), One tablespoon of sugar, Squeeze 1/2 lemon and drop into the patient's glass until sugar dissolves, Fill glass with boiling water, Serve with a potholder to protect the patient's hands from the hot glass.

It is relatively easy to find, as it is located just across from the Crystal Shrine Grotto. This is one of the more extravagant graves that you will find in the cemetery. The grave is marked by a huge bronze foot stone that has photos of Hayes in different stages of his life and his movies engraved in it. It also has the God's Garden poem inscribed and reads: God looked around his garden And he found an empty place He then looked down upon this earth And found your star He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest God's garden is beautiful now He always takes the best. But when you left. THE BIGGEST PART OF ME LEFT. But thanks for leaving a part of us in KOJO The hardest things always was for you to say goodbye. So I won't either. One day we'll be together again. LOVING YOU WAS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED YOU'LL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. My Love, Your wife ADJOWA "MARGARET" HAYES The grave looks pretty awesome and is in great shape. Parking here is very easy. There is parking available right in front of where the plot is located. I know what I want my grave to look like now, when it is my time. Anyway, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There are many sights to check out in the cemetery including the Crystal Shrine Grotto.
