This place is just a gold old local diner. It is full of regulars who you can tell have been meeting up here for years. Heck, I have been eating here for years, decades even! Haven't lived in Altus since the 70's but visit the folks regularly and always visit the Friendship for breakfast and sometimes the buffet. Staff is friendly, breakfast is breakfast but the buffet, in my experience is always great. We had a mini-family reunion there last weekend and took a 6 top for over 2 hours. Coffe cups, and tea glasses filled regularly with a smile. This place just feels like home to me. read more

To start off, I Do Not recommend eating here especially if you have eight or more people in your family. Our waitress had less personality than a sack of flour. She acted annoyed any time she was at the table and just all around rude the entire time. We had several empty cups on our table for more than ten minutes before they were refilled, if they got refilled. There were only three tables of people, there's no reason the service should've been this poor. I don't know what happened to the old staff, but the new owner should look into hiring them back on. At least they would try to have a conversation with you past "do you know what you're ordering?" And said it with a smile and a decent attitude. There were 8 of us total, which is apparently when they start charging an 18% gratuity fee? Seriously? Three were under ten and two were teenagers. The total gratuity paid was nearly $20.I would have rather left coins in a cup of water, upside down on a saucer as bad of service as we had. terrible! all i can say is terrible i have multiple bed bug bites all over my whole body especially on my legs and arms.I am mortified.We had 3 families and everyone room had bed bugs.We didnt even get a discount for our bed bug situation.When front office was allerted they didnt even care.It started off with room 122 and they got moved to a different room and yhey got moved to room 127 and still had bed bugs in the room! My family had rooms 124,125,127.We just wanted to relax after a long day beung on the rode. But we come to this. It's a restaurant that a lot of people who have lived in Altus most, if not all, of their lives go to regularly. The food is typical buffet food, not bad but nothing overly special. The service is like the food, not bad but not extra special. The inside is typical diner atmosphere. Again, not bad, just nothing that makes it stand apart. read more

Went in for breakfast order off the menu. The coffee is weak I got steak scrambled eggs the hashbrowns. Our waitress was great it's just the food was bland had no taste, Soul-less. I almost felt like eating off the buffet that was coming in fresh and I know for a fact that food does have flavor. Kudos to that! read more

I Yelp EVERYTHING. I can't believe I didn't Yelp Friendship. Wtf? Here is a backstory guys. I worked there when I was 16. I was possibly the clumsiest waitress ever, but they took a chance on me. Ms Evie and Sara taught me a lot about being punctual etc. I loved those guys. Fast forward a decade later and my momma worked there. She didn't have to. She just wanted to. She loved it. She loved having fun with her friends. She became part of the scenery. They were the people who noticed she wasn't working the day she passed. They were there for me then like you wouldn't believe. We had lunch there, never paid a dollar. One of the regulars had always picked up the tab. We met there after the funeral. It was just natural to be where she was. I'm giving the Friendship Inn five stars for the nostalgia. The food tastes exactly the same today as it did nearly twenty years ago when they gave me a chance as a kid. Sure. The hash browns are greasy and this definitely isn't diet food. Guess what? This isn't why you come to a place like this! You come for the coffee. To glare at Mr Marshall for making comments about teenagers never amounting to anything. ((Hey, guess what Marshall!!! I amounted to lots of things. Baaaahhh!!!)) You come to talk to the same regulars that have been there for years, and you come when you mourn for the regulars who have passed. This place is a little hidden gem. It's a nice place for breakfast when you're in town for a reunion or some other reason. It's old... but that does add to the charm, as another reviewer said. I will defnitely return, as I am in Altus annually. read more

Well, looking at the other reviews this place seems okay, but staying in the actual inn is kind of gross. As soon as we opened the door, several bugs fell off of it, leaving a great first appearance, and the rooms just give off a bad vibe. However the front desk was super nice and friendly, so I'll give them that. And you also get 10% off if you eat at the restaurant while staying in the inn. Oh and it also has a pool, so that's nice too, really i would probably give it a 2.5-3.0 stars, but the bugs really got me. read more

Yelp never steers me wrong! I have wanted to try this restaurant since we moved to Altus and last week we had the chance to stop in for lunch. I had breakfast for lunch but was seriously eyeing my son's fried chicken tenders from the Buffett. I had a taste and was blown away! The chicken was crispy and seasoned to perfection. We have been back for the breakfast buffet since that first afternoon lunch. I thought it was a major plus that we went in on a Sunday around 11am. We started our buffett with various breakfast items then the restaurant slowly transitioned to lunch items which we got to sample as well. I have tried the pancakes, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, chicken tenders, enchiladas and baked potato. Everything has been perfect and flavorful. So everyone seems in agreeance that this is a really great place to eat and you get a lot more than what the you think you paid for. Their breakfast buffet is amazing with a lot of choices. But their two-egg special on weekdays is a really good deal too! Besides the eggs [cooked to order] you get a choice of bacon or sausage, hash-browns or grits, or biscuit and gravy. Amazing! it's like $3.50 or something near there haha, I can't remember but delicious! The only problem I have with Friendship Inn, is not the service [it's fantastic] but, the price for a cup of coffee. It's a little too high to go out for coffee there everyday (like so many others who do daily). This is the general complaint I've heard for YEARS from the older-timers, and the old folks who go in. They love the food, the service and the staff, but the price of coffee, puts many people off. If they lowered it to $1.00, they could easily gain more daily, and returning customers. Right now, that's why many people order water, or cough up the coffee money with some hesitation. I know it may seem silly, but it's a VERY common topic when discussing Friendship Inn with the locals.
