I worked here for a long time, and I can tell: they are not professionals at all, they treat you badly and yell at you in front of your coworkers, they disrespect you, I quit from this job because of the mistreatment, today I went as a customer to eat because the food is not bad! I paid for my food and I was just talking to one of the waiters and one of the owner came to scold him in front of me, and he said "bye" to my face to make me leave the restaurant. He literally kicked a customer out of his restaurant. Nothing professional, it's not an environment to work there, they treat their waiters as they want. Horrible service it took 45 minutes to get a chicken fried steak and had to flag down another waitress to check our order after we noticed that people that came in 20 minutes after us were eating. Then when our food came out she was on the defense already and tried to justify and blame the big table but it came in after us and then blamed us because we ordered everything at once which was because we had already been sitting there so long when she came to take our order. read more

Why does this place only have 3 stars? This was great food! Three of us had chicken fried steak which was a perfect size...not those mondo pieces where you can't find the steak for the breading. It was hand breaded and tender. I had fried okra with mine...crispy and delicious. Another one of us had salmon and it was fantastic...cooked on a cedar plank and the seasoning on top was amazing. They were out of coleslaw so she ordered grilled veggies which were well worth it. Then we all ordered our own slice of coconut cream pie and that did not disappoint. All this for under $52! We enjoyed our food here last night so much that we came back today for lunch. The food and service were excellent AGAIN. We started with fried pickles which were good and spicy. I had the fried catfish with okra. Asked for extra lemons and the waitress gave me a full mug full. I used them all. The fish was very crispy, just the way I like it. Dad had the fried shrimp and he got 15 medium size shrimp. He also ordered a draft Bud Light which was super cold. The cocktail sauce was too sweet...needed more horseradish. This place has local ambiance and vibes from the time you see it from the street. While on a business trip we were looking for a place to have an ice cold beer and good food. When you walk in the first thing you notice is the patrons, they are all locals and a bunch of people on a business dinner. That, to me, was exactly what was needed. The entrance is on the side instead of the side facing the street. Once you walk in you are greeted by the friendly staff and taken to your table. The place is nothing fancy but clean and the decor is a throwback and the restaurant is filled with families enjoying a great meal. The beer selection was pretty good and the size of frozen mug starts at XL, or so it looked. If there was less than one star, they would had received it. We had a group of 10 that was seated quickly on arrival. It took 50 minutes just to get the first round of water, iced tea, soda and bottled beer. Food orders were taken at 55 min after being seated. The food, though cheap, was not a good value. Overdone chicken, gristle packed steak, bland rice.... The place is filthy. Trash on the floor in dining area, bathroom had paper towels piled around garbage can. This is definitely a local joint! Coming from a more urban setting, I stood out like a sore thumb! The service was friendly, fast, and consistent. (3/8/2020) Was in town for a family reunion and wanted to get together on a Sunday evening and one requisite was the patriarch wanted a beer. Basic, old school menu with a page of Tex Mex faves. Flavors were as expected, nothing surprising, most things very salty. Breading on the deep-fried things (Chile Relleno, Chicken Fried Steak, Beer-Battered Onion Rings) was heavy-handed. Gratis salsa was surprisingly very spicy (fine by me, too much for others), as was the spice level of the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Portions were substantial, prices were a good value. Service: Service was mediocre. The staff were friendly but had their table priority wrong by attending to parties that were sat after others first. Staff had trouble recognizing empty drinks on the table for refills and also had to return to ask what the order was again for a member of our party. Additionally, when a comment was made that the steak consisted mostly of fat after the server asked how everything tasted, the server then quickly walked away without acknowledging the comment that was made. Food: The steak and shrimp were terrible. The 13 oz steak had at least 6 oz of fat. The baked potato was dry and the fried okra consisted of mostly the ends of okra and were stringy. Coincidently, I ended up with a terrible stomach bug the morning after eating here. Atmosphere/Facility: The decorum is outdated and tacky. The restaurant is also covered in dust and filth on the walls. The restrooms had a terrible odor and they were dirty with towels all over the floor. Additionally, the peanut buckets are coated in a black grime and the floors are disgusting with spilled food on them. Price: This would be a huge plus had the food been good. The saying you get what you pay for truly applies. $13 for steak and shrimp was a red flag that should have alerted us to walk. read more

While it didn't reach the decent level it was at least edible. I sat at the bar, ordered a Shiner Bock, and their ribeye rare with mashed taters. The taters (as best as I could tell) were instant, which I wasn't expecting in a small town restaurant (was figuring they'd take the pride to do them up from scratch).
