I came here, not knowing what to expect and I must say, I had a great time. Every year, my family and I road trip to a haunted house destination for Halloween and make a weekend and mini vacation out of it.....between renting an Airbnb, longs days grilling, relaxing, sightseeing, shopping, the local town, and binging on everything!! This year we chose Fright Farm in West Virginia, Virginia. I loved everything about this place! The scares are definitely there! BUTTT.... I must say what you pay for here is the scenery and outdoor Halloween festival. The Halloween props, staging, scenery and actors are some of the best that I've seen around may of these type of attractions and nothing is spared. The hoops and scares are there. Beyond the attractions there are outdoor game booths, VIP camp grounds for rents and a live band festival. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but worth it. The only downside and start deduction, is that this place can be a bit overcrowded We paid for VIP experience to avoid the long lines and waits, and there was still a line to get in. Also, eat or feed yourselves somewhere else before you go.... There are not a lot of food attractions or options..... in comparison to a lot of other-similar Halloween attractions I've been to up and down the east coast. Other than this, this place is definitely worth adding to your outdoor Halloween adventures and a great venue for doing something with your family, group of friends....or even a date night! read more

I've been here several times over the years. The first time I went was either the second of third year it was opened for business. Things have changed alot since then with the interstate being built and them adding more and more attractions plus making it easier to get through it by not having to stand in line for hours by giving people numbers and having more activities to indulge in while waiting for your number to be called. Honestly, this is one of the best haunted houses and hayrides in the United States. Hands down! I always look forward to going for the new and exciting themes each year. If I could give zero stars I would. We pre bought tickets online. When we got here we still had to wait in line to get our "ticket" and wristband and get in a second line to get into the main area. When we got to the front of that line, we recieved a number which was 97. No one told us what this number was for. We walked into the main area and there were no signs. We got in line for the scare area and a guest told us we needed to wait for 'that' number, which was 42, to get to 97 before we could go in. We waited an hour and a half for the number to change and it only got to 47. We left as there was no where to sit and insane lines elsewhere which weren't moving as well. We drove an hour and half to get here and nowhere on the site did it state anything about a number system or potentially being here until 3 am when you get here at 845. Long story short save your money and they need to limit their ticket sales. I understand on a Saturday you're busy but this was truly insane. read more

We purchased our tickets online for $25 each and went to Fright Farm on a Wednesday night. We had not been to any haunted houses in the area since we moved here, and from what my husband researched this one looked pretty cool. We brought the printout from our online ticket purchase to the counter where we were each given wristbands to get in to see the attractions. You are given a number when you arrive which is written on your wristband so that you know which group you will be enterin with. There are barrels with bonfires, and plenty of seating areas for you while you wait. There is also a gift shop with numerous Fright Farm items, food items and drinks. There is also a stage where I believe they have entertainment on the weekends. When your number shows up on the bag lighted queue you get onto a tractor pulled hay wagon. This is the first part of your journey through Fright Farm. There are numerous actors that scare you along your ride, 3D attractions, barns and light shows all the way until you get to the haunted mansion. Imagine itself is huge and had everything you could possibly imagine inside to scare you. Dead bodies, horrible smells, chainsaws, body parts, freaky furnishings and more. Towards the end you are given 3D glasses. That last part of your tour is freakishly cool and definitely something to look forward to. After we exited the haunted house we made our way to the slaughterhouse where we were given blindfolds and made our way through while hanging onto ropes, chain link fences, and walls. I'm not sure if we were just walking around in circles but it was terrifying not being able to see what was going on. There plenty of places to take pictures and I know they also have a VIP experience four groups. The three of us thought Fright Farm was fantastic, and definitely worth the price of admission. This place used to be awesome! It had to be 7 years ago the first time I was here, and honestly, it was the best time. Used to be filled with actors, theme was awesome, and the bands were good. They even had a small carnival to enjoy before or after you went through the attractions. Last night, and the rest of our experiences there, aren't much to brag about. Lines are always long, so I wasn't expecting to not wait. In the line, they have concession in case you get hungry or thirsty. These are run by 14 year olds and one adult. Once again, I didn't expect much, but the process of my friend getting a hot chocolate was annoying (it would be a novel if I went into detail) and took a while, holding up the line behind us. The whole attraction feels like a line now, and there were not many actors. For $15 I could have went somewhere at least closer to home (it's an hour drive for me to get here) with more actors. The usual attractions lacked actors, and it felt like every 10 minutes I was in a new line, instead of going straight through. The actors that were there, didn't try to scare people. A lot were more friendly, just saying hi to people in a voice some might find creepy they think. The band was ok, but they finished at like 10pm. The guy DJing after was horrible. He didn't play anything to get you excited for a haunted attraction. Instead, it felt like you were at a muddy club (it rained the day prior to us going, it's not usually too muddy). Then, the one time he plays a song that does set a little more of a mood, the volume goes down and he talked over the whole song. Our hayride was (from what I saw) the only trailer with rails, so we could not sit on the edge and dangle our feet like years past. Additionally, there wasn't much hay to sit on, making the ride itself extremely uncomfortable (especially for them cramming as many people on as possible). When you reach the house, there is another line to go in. They removed some of the coolest pieces they had inside, most of which didn't require actors. This whole experience was boring, mostly due to the lack of people to make it run. The props are always awesome here, though. Eventually, you come to a couple more lines, so there is waiting mid house. When you are finished with the whole house, you reach another line. The maze was next and really easy. Not sure if I just got lucky, but most of the people inside were more friendly, rather than attempting to be scary (which I found to be a common theme throughout). The only outlier was an employee who called one of my friends ugly, as if it made sense in a haunted house. It took us about 5 minutes to navigate this maze, and spoiler alert, there was another line. The one thing that really saved fright farm this year was the Paranoia attraction. I won't spoil the details for those that will be attending, but let's just say for all of the negatives of the night, this really saved them. Even this, though, was lacking in actors and could have been done way better. They also advertised the carnival on their website, but when we arrived, there wasn't a carnival again. If i am being fair to this, though, it might be select dates and i may have missed the detail. Overall, I think 2 stars is the most I can give. They have so much more potential here, and they used it in the past. Maybe they should only be open the last 2 weeks of October so they can hire more actors to be in the houses, then truly unlock how cool this place could (and used to) be. read more

To start, scare houses aren't scary. I won't be rating based off of that. Would be a 4 star, read why it isn't below. The last time i went to this place was 20 years ago. What an evolution. The initial waiting/staging area now has food vendors, gift shops, picnic tables outside, burn barrels, stage with live bands or music, actors perusing the waiting area scaring unsuspecting customers. A very pleasant waiting area, which is good, because it is a long wait to get through the next gate. To get through this gate, you have you wait for your groups number to get called, much like a deli line. There is a very large digital number screen by the gate, making it easy to keep track. The gate in. This area is "guarded" by a middle aged employee whose job is to (probably) keep the groups separated. We stand there, and middle aged man begins giving tasks for our group to perform, to be able to enter. He starts off asking for 4 people to do a "fortnight dance", then he changes it to the 4 men in the group. I don't know this dance, nor would I ever dance on someone's command. So then, middle aged man says if he can get some of the group to twerk for him, he'll let us through. He then asks my SIXTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO TWERK FOR HIM, and he'll let us through. My daughter says, "I'm 16 and this is my father right here". They guy never apologised, just moves on to more tasks. It gets down to just me, the lady i brought and my daughter. He is still asking me to do something to get in, while I'm doing everything i can not to destroy this pedophile. We just walk through, screw this guy, he isn't going to ruin our night. We are reunited again with our group (all family and friends). What's on the other side of the gate? Another maze of a line. It's understandable, a popular attraction, and they are trying to keep a buffer between groups. You go through 2 different lines through a corn field, to get to the hay ride. There is entertaining scare attempts in the line. There is a countdown clock at the final line, letting you know when the next tractor is coming. The hay ride trailer is impressive in size. The ride through the farm is good. Pulling up on the haunted house is impressive. The haunted house is also very detailed. Impressive. Some potential jump scare is lost in the groups running into each other. Just like every scare house. The final stage is paranoia. Great concept, lots of fun. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. I'd rate it 4-5 stars, if it wasn't for the pedo asking my underage daughter to twerk for him. read more

A FRIGHTFULLY LONG WAIT. We came Saturday night. They told us we were in group 49. When we got there, they were only on number 14. We walked around... and around... fought through the gift shop crowd... walked around... listened to the band (which was great, BTW)... walked around more. After an hour, at 9:30, they were only on number 17. Seriously? Eventually we decided to leave. At the pace they were going, it would take until 3 in the morning. AND they were still letting people in- the people coming in were in group 63!!! Everything says no refunds. What a ripoff. read more

Honestly I was really excited to go. I went there last year and i enjoyed very much. This year was horrible. We were jammed onto benchers with no room. When there was people trying to give the others room the workers pretty much yelled at them to move closer. There was little scares. The walk through was okay. When we went through the maze there was no scares at all! Honestly this whole experience was not worth the 25 dollar ticket. I feel like every other "haunted house" is trying their best to present the best show as possible but Fright Farm isn't putting in the effort. read more

Food, music, and tent were all good. Everything else was awful. Zero management so drunks everywhere. - There's a sign that says "visibly intoxicated individuals will be asked to leave". Not true. Last night was my first visit to Fright Farm. My husband and I had purchased our tickets online, and was a bit excited to go. As we arrived you could see the lights from the road, it was amazing! We got our bands, and went in. It took us a bit, as I can not walk well thanks to my disability. We made our way to the hayride to start our adventure. However, when we arrived I was disappointed to see no handicap accessibility to get onto it. I turned away upset, as my husband had let me know that was the only way to get to the attractions. While asking one of the workers if there was a different way to go avoiding the hayride, we were approached by a gentleman asking what was wrong. I explained to him I simply could not climb the steps, my disability did not allow me to. He was so helpful! He took us to where we could go on without steps, and explained where to avoid. Even gave us a ride to help us get to there. The attractions were so much fun for both my husband and myself! The decorations, costumes, sound effects, and most of all the staff, were simply incredible!! It was totally worth the $120 we spent to go! Will definitely do again!! First off, the attractions aren't scary, or fun for that matter. There are never enough actors in the mansion or around the attractions. The ones that are there aren't near as enthusiastic. Also, for 2019, I had an incident with a very unnecessarily rude clown loading patrons onto the hayride. He threatened to throw me out for trying to have fun. Said he was "tired of dealing with drunk people and wasn't in the mood." Mind you, I was completely sober because I had consumed zero alcohol. I just have a boisterous "goofy" personality. Attractions aren't made for anyone of height at all. Anyone over 6' will have issues. I happen to be 6'9". Overall, it will be another few years before I waste $30. read more

While they have nice sets and props they had virtually no actors and sadly many of the ones they did have were just standing there saying move it along. The hayride was very amateur for an attraction this size. There was a large crowd and they pumped through hundreds of people at a time with little to no separation between groups. We paid 130.00 for two xpress passes and honestly would have felt like it was a waste of time even if it had been free. There was a guy who got upset behind us and he tried to throw hands with someone and we were in the middle of it. We tried telling security and the actors and nothing was done. Later the owner talked with us and she said she'd talk to her team about it and I said is that all? She said what do you expect me to do? I felt the owner really didn't care about her customers and I find it hard to believe this place will last another 30 years under her ownership. This place was really hyped up as being the premiere horror attraction in western Pennsylvania, but it was a huge disappointment. Yes, it has 5 attractions but none of them were frightening at all. The general admission was $25 and the express (which they started you would not wait in line) was $40 which was also false. There was a 2.5 hour wait in a line that never ends even after entering the attraction. You are ushered in by tired actors in below average costumes and you inch through the grounds like cattle, seeing and hearing every uninspired jump scare long before it gets to you. At points the traffic congestion caused new lines to form and they actually had internal roped off areas for waiting inside the attraction (after the initial two plus hours). There were a couple high points like the sensory deprivation area where you get blindfolded and have to follow a rope through a winding set of rooms and the hayride wasn't bad either, even if you are packed in like sardines. Save your money, time and sanity and go to phantom fright nights where you will get more bang for your buck or one of the many other local haunted attractions - there is no shortage of them in the area and with fright farm setting the bar really, really low, you're better off elsewhere. The only things that were scary about this experience was the horrific lines, how they were managed and cost both with your time as well as your hard earned cash. Also I should mention they did have live music while you wait but that was overshadowed by the group of under-age, drunk hillbillies singing and screaming right behind us. Security did nothing when other costumers complained and brought it to their attention the alcohol they had smuggled in and continued to drink all the way through the park. There is no chance I would ever go back or recommend this place to anyone outside of line waiting enthusiasts and people I dislike. read more

****Do NOT BRING SMALL CHILDREN! all this place is filled with is drugs and immature drunk underage teenagers TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE this year and I have gone the past 8 years Myself and 9 other of my coworkers made a trip to the fright farm last night. We all purchased the $40 VIP tickets, hoping to have a great time. The atmosphere was awesome, I have had a blast every year I have gone so far. The setup of the attractions was great, and the employees/actors are very fun and friendly. We were between a few attractions and were waiting in line for the Port O Johns. My boyfriend was behind me in line, and I told him he could go first since I knew he would take less time. When he finished, I went inside and he waited for me outside of the door. When I opened the door, it slammed back in my face due to some boy pushing it closed at me. He was probably 17 at MOST, we are 25. My boyfriend said, "Watch it, dude..my girlfriend is in there." The kid, drunk out of his mind (and also on other drugs I'm sure), said, "Did that guy really just tell me to watch it??" My boyfriend replied, "Yes I did, you slammed the door shut when my girlfriend was trying to get out of the bathroom." We continued to walk away and the kid grabbed my boyfriend's hat and threw it in the cornfield. I turned around, enraged, and told the kid to go pick it up. It was totally unnecessary. He could barely stand up he was so messed up on something. My boyfriend got in his face and asked what his problem was, and my work friends came over to break our argument up. As all this is going on, some girl came up to me, (totally unrelated to the guy that started drama) looked me in the face, and started yelling at me for no reason. She REEKED of alcohol (she seemed to be of age though) and her boyfriend had to pull her back from me as she screamed in my face. I am not one to cause problems but this place was an absolute train wreck this year. We paid $40 a person to be totally and utterly disgusted by the time we left. I did not enjoy myself the rest of the night due to these immature acts carried out by young drunks who can't handle their alcohol. As if this all wasn't bad enough, we had one of our coworkers little sister with us. She is in middle school, and the young boy in front of her SNORTED COCAINE OFF OF HIS KEY, in the middle of line!! She was very upset and we were all so disgusted that this, what used to be a family attraction, has turned into such a disgusting place to be. I am thoroughly disappointed with everything that happened last night and am mainly upset that this has totally turned me on this place. Needless to say, I will not be attending this attraction in the future unless some actions will be taken to prevent this. This place was worth the money in the past, but this year it was the biggest rip off I have ever experienced. I spent the extra money on the express passes and was so disappointed by the time we made it through the first attraction, I wanted a refund. Of coarse they won't give u a refund though. This place should be avoided at all costs. U can find a haunted attraction better then this anywhere else. This was the result of letting a handful of teenagers run the entire park. Food was gross, nothing was scary, & everyone was rude. They ushered us through every stop like a herd of cattle & everyone complained at how u were walking all over the person in front of you. I will never go back to this place!!!
