We were just walking around near the marina, saw this place, and wanted some French fries.
These are actually "Belgian" fries, but they are not cooked in lard the way real Belgian fries are. They are, however, cut thick, the way Belgian fries should be, and served in a cup. They are cooked in "cleaner," "non-animal" oils.
We wanted an alcoholic beverage, too, and were pleased to find this place attached to Sharky's Bar. We were able to go in, sit at the bar, and have a beverage while waiting for our fries.
These fries, too, come with a choice of sauces. They advertise the Habanero as being "for Mexicans" only, but don't fear it unless you really don't eat hot sauce much. Yeah, it is pretty hot, but not just for Mexicans. It's for anyone who likes, and is used to hot sauce. It has an excellent flavor, and a pretty nice kick, but not too hot. That is, of course, if they didn't hold back on me, and actually gave me the full, undiluted sauce.
The fries themselves were slightly seasoned, and tasty. They were a little greasier than expected, but, still, not too bad. They had the good flavor of home, and they went really well with the beverages we ordered at the bar. By the way, you do not need to go inside the bar to enjoy these fries. Fritz serves soft drinks at the window out on the sidewalk, too. They just can't serve alcohol out there. read more
