I was invited to a studens show at Front Range Classical Ballet Academy teachers and students are very talented people!.

My family was at this studio for nearly 4 years. The last year was so painful and hurtful and we regret having kept our daughters there for a long as we did. As a parent, we want our kids to be in a place where they can not only grow in their skills and have healthy safe relationships, but to also be safe and be treated with respect and dignity by their instructor. Having their hearts broken by an adult who was supposed to care for them was just devastating. Others have left this studio for similar reasons. It is my advice, based on our personal experience, that families might want to look elsewhere for a studio with a healthy and warm environment. There are many in the front range area! In response to owner's comments. Yes, it was very sad that my family and others had to leave after such a long time of hard work, loyalty and care for you and your studio. How sad that when families came to you for help and assistance, you chose to turn your back on us, and on the issues we brought to you in good faith. I realize it is good business to respond to reviews like the one I left, but it's such a shame you did not want to deal with the severe issues we brought to you while we were all still there and asking for your help and support. As for the mental health experts you mentioned, this was not what you said to us when we were asking for your help. We did not leave solely because of the draconian policies you introduced, but because of the dismissive and cruel way you treated our family, and the others who chose to leave. We loved you and cared for you in so many ways for years, and when we asked for your help suddenly the love was all gone and you chose instead, to dismiss us and our very serious concerns. I hope you do well in the future personally, but I also hope that other families will read this and approach with caution. Too many young broken hearts at frcba. The problem you had, is still there. The rest of us just chose not to subject our teens to the bullying and negative attitude any longer. It became clear that not only was the emotional and psychological welfare of all dancers not a concern for you, but their physical safety was also not of concern when another parent could use their vehicle to threaten us and risk injuring minors and other parents and you refused to handle the situation in any kind of meaningful way. While everything written here is simply our opinion, based on our experiences, I would want any parent considering bringing their child/ teen to frcba to think twice. As the parents, we chose to stop pouring our energies and finances into a studio where it is clear that not everyone is treated equally or with fairness or justice and perhaps mostly, in our opinion, where it simply isn't safe or healthy. read more

New studio! FRCBA has moved into a beautiful new space. Ixchel's instruction, and that of the teachers she has trained, continues to be personalized, consistent, and supportive, even as the studio grows. My favorite example of the quality of Ixchel's instruction came when I took class while visiting family in Pennsylvania. The instructor, a proper grande dame who has danced with ABT and on Broadway, walked slowly along the barre, surveying each student as we pliéd. I love FRCBA! I've taken lessons there off and on for the past ten years. The quality of instruction Ms. Ixchel provides is the best in the area, hands down. I've met and danced with kids and teens, and adults like myself there, and it's a very friendly and inviting place to gather. At FRCBA, careful attention is paid to improving the technique of each and every student regardless of age or skill. I started ballet with no experience at age of 37 and I have seen myself improve so much because the atmosphere at FRCBA is welcoming, affirming and collaborative. As a lifelong dancer, I've had many instructors...Ixchel is BY FAR the BEST! I've also been a dance instructor and have a Masters in Education, so my expectations for quality instruction are extremely high. Ixchel always exceeds them--in the group classes I've taken with her and especially in private lessons! (All for which she should charge MUCH MORE than she does.) In addition to being an outstanding instructor and amazing ballerina, she is also one of the kindest and most caring people I've ever met! She is so humble and makes everyone feel very welcome and encouraged! So blessed to have found her ballet academy--she should have ALL the business in the area! Finding FRCBA and being a student of Ixchel has truly changed my life for the better. I've yet to meet a more passionate and professional ballet instructor. And as anyone will tell you in the dance world, it is rare to find a ballet instructor who's willing to teach adults aswell as adolescents. You just don't find them, 95% of instructor's teach children exclusively. So if you're interested in learning classical ballet and you've found this review, you're in serious luck my friend. Ixchel is a highly talented dancer, and a wonderful teacher with more than 25yrs of experience teaching. She truly cares for her students success and well being. This really is as good as it gets in Fort Collins for serious ballet training! My daughter been almost everywhere for trials and classes in this town, and Ixchel is the real deal! Ixchel is an incredible dancer, and she has years of knowledge and experience to share. My daughter has grown so much as a dancer and I have relaxed knowing she is learning from the best in town! She is challenged in a positive way, and has so much fun too! Ixchel has multiple class offerings throughout the week really allowing for a pre professional schedule. Many studios in town claim to have pre professional programs, but they don't offer enough classes to really meet what a pre professional dancer needs. My daughter has the opportunity to dance almost every day of the week. She loves class so much, she is upset to ever have to miss a class! I am a bit conflicted about publicizing how much I love this place, because classes might get too crowded. I also don't write reviews very often. But here goes. If you want to become a better ballet dancer (to the point of obsession), no matter what your level of ability, Ixchel can help you get there. FRCBA offers many classes throughout the week to accommodate a variety of schedules, and the affordable rates mean I can cram as many as humanly possible into my calendar. The combination of frequent classes with high-quality instruction have made me a better dancer than I ever thought would be possible, having started ballet in my mid-20s. There are students of all ages and abilities, yet Ixchel manages to give each student personalized attention and instruction to guide them towards being the best dancer they can be. The studio atmosphere is relaxed, yet focused, and very welcoming to newcomers. Can't recommend this place highly enough! read more
