They said there was a 6 month wait, but after 6 years (bad me, I know), I decided to wait it out. I arrived my first visit and had the best dental visit of my life - almost no pain (X-Rays suck when the plastic hits the bones in your mouth, that's inevitable). I made my follow-up appointment for six months right then and there. Ever since then, I've had the pleasure of having Chelsie as my hygienist and will request her if possible, for every visit. She's friendly and interested in her patients' lives while not asking them questions while she has metal tools in their mouths. I've never had a pain issue when she's been working with me. Angela works the front desk and has been beyond helpful with me from making my first appointment, through changing my insurance and ensuring I was covered by the new company. She's friendly and makes calls and texts to confirm things when I had any questions with no hesitation and complete honesty. Everyone who works for Dr. Buxton (and Dr. Buxton himself, obviously) has made me a customer for life! I've recommended this place to all of my family members and they are on the waiting list!

They signed me up for their loyalty program for patients who pay out of pocket and up front which makes their already reasonable prices even more affordable. At my cleaning, Nicki seated me right on time and took amazing care of my teeth. She was also very patient and kind about navigating a full mouth series of x-rays despite my gag reflex! Then Dr Buxton came in to do an exam and talk to me about a couple concerns I had. The office was sparkling clean and I felt very safe there despite the ongoing pandemic. I definitely received five star service and am so thrilled to have found a great dental office!!! Thanks guys.

She told me that I had pulled a ligament and prescribed me high doses of Tylenol and Advil and sent me home. Six months later I was told by another dentist that I had severe bone degeneration because of a failed cavity procedure (done by her) that was infected so bad that it caused an infection which ate through my jaw bone and now I need oral surgery to scrape all of it out and possibly a bone graft! All of this could have been prevented if she had given me an x-ray that day I went in. She would have saw that the previous cavity filling failed and I had a raging infection. This simply means she ground down my teeth to give them a better fit together. I suspect this procedure is all that keeps her in business. She laid the dental chair so far back that my head was at lap level, while she sat and leisurely worked. My unsupported head was turned SO far to the right that I was forced to hold my head in position using only my neck muscles. The next day, the strain of holding my head up took its toll. To this day I have what is now what my doctor calls "chronic neck pain". It does seem to be getting better, even after my doctor performed a "trigger point injection", with a steroid/lidocaine combination. UPDATE, 5.10.23 ~ My neck is NOT getting better. It hurts, and "cracks" all day. If you find yourself about to shell out a thousand bucks for this procedure, DON'T, at least not with this lousy dentist. Maybe this review won't be deleted.

She only has one other dentist for competition, and that is my childhood dentist, who was just as good. Growing up, I thought all dentists were good with patients, knowledgeable and did their best to make you comfortable. After learning this was not the case, finding someone like Dr. Ray is just awesome. I've been seeing her for close to five years now, both at the CSU clinic and her private practice, and I received the same excellent care. She is also very good at what she does- she often does her own cleanings, is thorough and although I don't want to admit my cavity history, awesome at fillings. I had a previous dentist not give me enough Novocaine, causing some anxiety during this process. She was very understanding and kind and worked with me to make sure I was okay during the entire process. To give you an idea of how much I like her as a dentist, I live in Denver and drive 60 miles to see her. Last year, I attempted another dentist due to some unfortunate dental insurance and he tried to replace a lot of stuff that wasn't needed. Dr. Ray is honest about what you need, and will work with you on your schedule and payments. I HIGHLY recommend her as your dentist if you are in the Fort Collins area or surrounding areas, or if you are a die-hard fan, drive up from Denver.

I have never had this much word done in my whole life and yet, maybe I needed it? I question all of it now. They did two fillings and a crown in one day and that was way too much. I was in trauma. I am 67 now and maybe that is part of it, but this was over the top awful. then I got back for a cleaning and that was fine. now another crown. here's where it gets really bad. the assistant place a temporary crown on my tooth which no dentist in site, took it off to adjust several times but complained she was afraid to make it thinner as it might break, so instead of making the fitting right she put on a crown that was too high. I did not know what it could do to me. The pain from the procedure did not go away and only got worse, enough that I thought about the ER. I finally got in for the permanent crown and told the assistant how bad the pain has been and she said, "oh yeah, a high temporary crown like that could bruise the periodontal ligament and cause that pain." She knew this and still fit me with the bad temp crown fitting? And no dentist in sight. So the dentist put on the regular gold crown and again the assistant finished the procedure cementing in and the dentist did not check final. I am still in tremendous pain, had to cancel work for several days, get a prescription for Tylenol and codeine and still cannot function. The dentist wants me on steriods for inflammation and I tell her I can't due to past health issues and she pushes for steroids. Doesn't consider infection or anything else. I finally go to another dentist for an emergency consult and he refers me to an endodontist as he thing the nerve pulp is damaged due to the situation. I went and of course this killed the nerve in my tooth and I have to get a $1900 root canal, taking antibiotics due to infection in my throat from this, and trauma to say the least. I have spoken with the office manager and the dentist won't call me back after I have been promised to hear from her. They won't take responsibility for what they did, as this should have never happened. I am not a litigious person and am considering speaking to a lawyer or going to small claims court, reporting them to the dental board as they did this to me. It was a bad fitted crown that caused this to happen. Do not go here.

My infection was so severe I was rushed to the hospital after my face became so swollen I looked like the elephant woman and I developed a very high fever. At the time I was rushed to the hospital, I had no idea this was even dental related. Upon discharge from the hospital, we immediately drove to Dr. Nielsen's office. When I walked through the door looking like the elephant woman, Dr. Nielsen immediately took time to see me. He invests in the newest state-of-the art technology and took 3D images to show the severity of the infection, refer me to a reputable endodontist and create a plan to get me back to good dental health. I was blown away by his compassion when he refused to accept payment for the 3D images he took of my mouth. Dr. Nielson has a compassionate heart and genuinely cares. I have since moved my entire family over to Northern Smiles Dentistry and will remain loyal to Dr. Nielson for as long as he is practicing dentistry. What makes his practice outstanding is the technology he invests in to offer services/produces in house. He even manufactures mouth guards in house, so the wait time is shorter than dentists who outsource that manufacturing service. I cannot recommend this dentist any higher. AAAAA+++++
