A local tile store offered free consultations, but having done that for our past bathroom remodel, I knew their expertise was narrower in scope and limited to what they had in stock. Enter Faris and her great ideas! She suggested a color to paint our cabinets that would tie into an existing island we had. She had an idea for backsplash that would coordinate, and also not immediately look dated once the current style became yesterday's hot new thing. I actually found a tile that worked even better than what she suggested, but I never would have considered it if she hadn't suggested that style, or introduced me to a non-local website. If you're considering investing in a $10k kitchen upgrade or a $60k total overhaul, I feel like this is money very well spent. I left our meeting more excited about our mini renovation that I ever was before. A word of advice and why I deducted a star...they are very strict about their billing, so try to be concise and not mess around during your meeting. I enjoyed her company and attempted to establish rapport, but all of that turned out to be billable time. The 7 minutes she was late; the time I took to make us tea; the stories she told about other clients; the time she took a call regarding another project...I was billed for the full time. I'm still VERY glad she came out, and I would hire them again in a second if we decide to undertake another project--I'll just be more conscious of time if we do.

Wow, I don't even know where to start! A remodel that touched as many parts of a home as ours did…read moreis so incredibly personal, and emotional at times, but from the first moment we met Crystal of TVL Creative, I knew I was working with someone who would hold my hand; and guide me with the perfect blend of love, creativity, passion, and experience. Our project was not a straightforward kitchen or master bathroom remodel, in fact it was just about every part of our home needing attention but those. And so the daunting task of finding someone who could not only take on a project of that scale, especially because we really didn't have a ton of ideas as to what we wanted beyond a few basics like "get rid of the dark wood (railings, doors, trim), update hall bathroom, total redesign/redocorate of family room, create a pool table room in our living room, and update the closet space on main level". That's how I explained it to Crystal via their website seeking a consultation after seeing the amazing work they did on a friend's kitchen remodel. And from the moment Crystal came for our initial, and free (!), consultation I knew I was headed the right direction. First, once Crystal came to the house, she walked through the whole project with me and my husband, took photos, asked great questions and offered interesting ideas to gauge our design personality. Then she followed up with a complimentary 3D photorealistic rendering of what our pool table room could look like (which we ended up making pretty much no changes to!). We knew from that point that we were all in with TVL!! Their pricing is super flexible, offering their services hourly on an a la carte basis. But even though it's hourly, they tell you how long they think it will take and that's all you pay, so they can't gouge you unexpectedly. With the a la carte, you can choose just their design services, and/or material purchasing and delivery management and/or staging, assembly & installation, and/or contractor recommendation/alignment, and/or project management and site visits. Well, I hate all things design and wanted to be as hands-off as possible, so I signed up for everything!! We then set a budget for everything else and we were on our way! We started talking to Crystal almost 6 months before starting our project. But we filled our first weeks with lots of back and forth via email (my preference and hers), sharing renderings and discussing ideas of what we wanted our family room to look like. By the third rendering she had nailed that design down for us. We then locked down the design details of the other parts of the project. Then began the fun of shopping and ordering all of the beautiful new things. Crystal understands how timing works for things like a custom order couch, and since she knew we had some pretty specific criteria including the need to actually be able to test it out in person, she began the hunt for our perfect couch plenty early. And she found it!! That was the beginning of many successful shopping missions Crystal accomplished for us; both in stores and lots online too. She confirmed all purchases with us before buying, provided us with receipts as well as a spreadsheet tracking all expected and actual spending to assure us our budget was still on track. Crystal was reassuring every time I started freaking out about this or that. She was patient when I became obsessed with finding the *perfect* console table, such a small piece of furniture in the grand scheme of everything else but she made it her priority to find me that perfect table with a smile and good humor. Once the time finally came to start the project, it could not have gone any better!! Everything from our contractor she recommended, to the painters and the carpet install, to the tiniest of details-she attended to them professionally and with a genuine desire to act in our best interest. Our project was completed in the expected time frame, and her team killed themselves to ensure we'd have our home done and ready for a New Year's Eve party. There were a few follow up items like returning/replacing broken or incorrect deliveries, and Crystal handled it all with such grace and was fully committed to the very end with us. Most impressively, we ended up UNDER BUDGET! Not by a ton, but without sacrificing any of our needs and wants, we still had a little money left over at the end! How often do you hear of a remodel that is ON TIME and UNDER BUDGET!? Not often, because they didn't have Crystal and TVL guiding them every step of the way. Also, keep in mind they work with ALL budgets, so while other contractors or designers might scoff at your budget or if you think there's no way you can do what you want on your budget, I encourage you to contact TVL to find out for yourself. They take a fresh approach to design and construction, and are nothing like any design firm your mom (ha, or my mom) has every used!!

We hired this countertop company (Renovate, LLC) to fabricate and install a new kitchen countertop…read moreand window sill in our newly remodeled kitchen. We visited their showroom to view their inventory and make a selection of quartz. All seemed well as we paid our initial deposit for the material and even scheduled a measuring so the stone could be cut to spec. Fast-forward about a month, the countertops were finally installed. Although we were out of town, we did have someone here to let the crew in and sign off on the job. Jennifer (who we'd been dealing with through the entire transaction and process) called that same day for the remainder of the payment. As I authorized this payment, I did let her know I was out of town and would not have eyes on the counters until we returned the coming weekend. She welcomed a call once we returned if there were any issues or questions. Low and behold, the first sight of the project we had upon arrival back at home was the incorrect countertop and damage from installation! I immediately called Jennifer to report these issues and was given the option for a refund of the difference or a full countertop replacement when they had time. We decided to live with the wrong countertops for a few days while we made our decision, which we chose to keep and opted for a refund of the overcharge during my next call to her. Now, clearly, we were charged a higher amount for a better quality countertop even though they fabricated and installed the wrong material. In the past 6 weeks since the installation, I've made numerous calls to their office and have spoken to Jennifer quite a few times in order to get the refund initiated so we can complete our kitchen remodel, which she has assured me twice were being processed. The most recent update I received is that their office cannot, in fact, issue a refund of a specific amount. What a joke!!! They aren't even familiar with their own purchase/refund policy! As far as I'm concerned, our kitchen remodel is not able to be completed until we finally get our fair refund and repair from this company. Please save yourself the headache and financial stress by not hiring Renovate, LLC for your next countertop purchase. This is predatory business practice at its best! Sadly, we were referred to this company by the cabinet company we used, so perhaps they are in cahoots. Either way, there are better and definitely more professional companies out there!

Also the door handle I ordered arrived late (after the project was done) and Moises still came back the next day to install it! The wall and door look excellent also! We had a mixed experience hiring and working with Andy to install custom kitchen/bath cabinets and…read moreinstall custom trim work, doors and hardware. We wouldn't hire Andy again and actually ended up firing him before all work was completed. Communication: D Craftsmanship: B- Work Ethic: C- Problem-Solving: C- Some of the kitchen cabinet installation is good (setting straightforward cabinet bases and uppers), some isn't so good (trim/crown miters with larger gaps, solving problems with cabinet issues/fillers). Some of the door and custom trim installation is good (simple-cut trim pieces) and some isn't so good (face-nails sloppy, door hinge installs a bit sloppy). We also did much of the prep work that Andy had signed up for but just didn't do in an acceptable, detailed manner (kitchen prep before cabinet install, floor/workspace protection from damage, cleanup). Overall though, much of the installation work was acceptable (but not outstanding). The main issues that led to firing Andy was really poor communication and problem-solving. Some installation problems seemed to overwhelm Andy and impacted progress and timely completion of planned work. Some work schedule issues seemed to stress Andy out and, without effective communication with us as his clients, derailed the project completion (failure to show up on scheduled work days, walking off the site in anger). Andy also had some difficulty staying focused on a logical and planned progression of the various project tasks. In the last interaction with Andy (after he was fired), he let us know that if we couldn't find anyone else to finish the remaining work that, without any "hard feelings", he'd return to finish, but at 1.5x his normal rate. Nope - we found a very qualified trim carpenter to finish up on Task Rabbit. Ultimately, these issues didn't work for us, especially with the flexibility we offered and the amount we were paying Andy. Perhaps more experience working with real-world clients will help Andy with future projects, but not any of ours.

We were presented with 3 layout options for our project that the Lindy team was able to hash out with us before we selected a floor plan to move forward with. Ashley took our inspiration pics and created a design that was spectacular and unique, while capturing the elements we loved from the inspiration photos. The plans, product procurement, permits and approvals were thought through, organized and in place before demo even began, which is a very thoughtful approach. -Full scope and firm estimate solidified BEFORE demo: we were able to "value engineer" in some places, as suggested by Lindy, in order to meet the budget and still achieve our desired design. We really appreciated how much time is spent in pre-construction firming up the allowances and budget so that there is no surprise billing later. The client knows up front what to expect to pay and at what specific construction interval each payment is due. -Quality of their team, contractors and sub contractors: we lived in our basement throughout this project and felt completely comfortable with (if not completely fond of) the Lindy team and the sub contractors working on our home, especially with us being home during all of it. They were incredibly respectful of our home, and of us living in our home during the remodel. The contractors and subs seemed to be highly qualified and experienced in their fields.

They responded to my request and came out with in 24 hourz to take measurements. We were quoted double by other companies and DCD was a wonderful surprise. We have beautiful quartz countertops and new sinks now. From quote to install was a week. They were professional and cleaned up as well. We have moved on. Obviously I cannot speak about the quality of their work or costs, but my interactions were problematic to say the least.
