Our whole main floor was made wood. Existing wood in entry and kitchen was sanded and refinished. The end result is stunning. He blended the existing wood into the new so it all looks the same. I like supporting small local businesses like S&J and in this case, I got someone with 40 yrs experience doing my floors. He has done floors for many famous athletes here in Denver and is well respected at his craft. The first photo is a "before" of our kitchen, the rest is the stunning "after" results.

In the end, you'll know that the communication was horrible (mostly handled by the wife (whose name I forgot)) and the end result will be decent but won't wow you. Pricing is likely in line with that. We got three quotes, $2700, $3300, and $3500. S&J was $3300. I would say just don't trust their communication at all. They will be all over the place in what days to move stuff, what days they'll be done, when you can walk on it, etc. Just plan on 12 days of mayhem for 1000 sq ft and you'll be good. One last thing, they tell you it is a three coat system, but it is stain, then two coats. Very, Very misleading. Update: I suppose "shortcuts" was the wrong term. Lazy is the term I should have used. There is white stain all over my house where it shouldn't be. Nearly every door handle is stained because he didn't clean his hands, there is a permanent footprint on the entryway, there is stain on the dark kitchen cabinets, he left two hardboards here that I had to get rid of for him. There are little white beads of stain coming up between boards. Just lazy. Oh, and the communication piece I am referring to is that 4 days before our project started, the wife's cell phone was disconnected by her carrier and I could not reach them in any way. I wrote their email on the website but never got a review. Never was given Steve's number. The 12 days refers to 2 days to move your stuff, 5 days of work, then 5 days before you can put rugs back down. Steve told us only 3 days for furniture, but I actually read the label of the Bona coating he used and it clearly said 5 days for rugs (which furniture is on top of) so 12 days. Also, little lazy that he said 3 days when the product he is "certified" to use clearly says 5 on it.
