This is such a cool historic hotel and restaurant. The food was fantastic. They also do a great job accommodating gluten free needs and any substitutions. I will eagerly look forward to dining here again as the prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent.

Second time coming here. This is a MUST during the Holidays season as it is inside Hotel Boulderado and they have an Irish Spruce tree in the lobby and it is completely decorated for Christmas. Recommend making reservations because they are always busy OR you can sit at the bar OR just order coffee at the coffee window. We had Brunch menu- Corned beef hash (made in-house), Breakfast Burrito, OJ, cinnamon latte with oat milk and lavender latte with oat milk Great staff and fast service. Parking is challenging but you can valet if you can't find street parking.

Enjoy this syrup it's $2.95 additional.

Service was fine, Greta atmosphere, food ok, took awhile for breakfast to be served. For three people it was $100 but I asked for a little more syrup because they don't give you enough (in a little ketchup dish ) for three pancakes. They charged me $3 for extra syrup. Really? Only when bill came did I realize... and they also add a 3 % surcharge which I'm ok with but nickel and diming me on syrup. No thanks. Not going back!

We were in Boulder in late afternoon after hiking in Chautauqua park and came here because we were also interested in checking out the Boulderado Hotel. The restaurant is on a street corner with a couple of window tables. The dining room is not big with a bar on one side and a staircase leading to the lobby of the hotel (where the bathrooms are). We were right on time for happy hour so tried a few items on the HH menu. Food is pretty good, for HH dishes relatively large portions that'd be enough for a light dinner. A conveniently located restaurant to come to when visiting Pearl Street.

I think the best thing about River and Woods is the interior and exterior decoration. It is very clear that a lot of thought and time was put into the atmosphere here. From the cute door knocker to the bathroom wallpaper, the theme is well-executed. The food was a bit disappointing. The blue oyster mushroom appetizer was extremely salty. I thought it was just me but the rest of the table agreed as well. My trout was well-cooked and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The chicken was also salty although cooked well. I did not try the burger but I was told it was salty as well. The prices of all the items were quite high for what I thought was presented. Service was good and thankfully our waters were filled frequently for how much water we were drinking due to the high salt content.

There are only two tables on their patio that have an umbrella, so we were sitting in the sun at first and it was getting really hot (but then we were able to snag a shaded table when it freed up shortly after) All of the menu options sounded so good, we started with drinks, I can't remember the name of my cocktail, but it had egg white in it and was so delicious. We ordered the burrata appetizer and all of our means at the same time. Unfortunately, the appetizer never came out, our server for that to put it in. I ended up going with the Bolognese and it was really good so was the steak frites and street cart chicken that my friends had. Their fries are pretty good. The server felt really bad for forgetting about our appetizer and offered us a free dessert instead, so we tried the churro donuts which were ok. I'm still it was a good meal and I would definitely come back if I'm in the Boulder area again soon

The restaurant itself feels tucked away and intimate, almost unexpected sitting inside an apartment complex in East Boulder, which somehow makes it feel even more special once you're inside. The two of us split the Cart Driver -- a wood fired pizza with pork sausage with chili flake (added spice without being spicy), kale, mozzarella, fennel pollen ($27), a small arugula salad ($7), a side of cooked sunchokes ($14), and a chocolate pistachio budino -- small pot of chocolate pudding with pistachio butter base and finely chopped pistachio topping ($12). They include a 22% gratuity automatically, which I personally am fine with from a Boulder Farm-to-Table dining experience. I felt the items were pricey relative to portions served, but I justified the elevated costs to myself as my dinner indirectly supporting businesses and farms in the area. While I liked the vibe, even on a Monday night, it was hard for me to hear my guest across from me. I liked that they take reservations. When I go back, it will most likely be at a quieter time and for a more special occasion rather than a weeknight get-together.

The drinks were definitely expensive, but we were happy to pay for a quality experience at an upscale restaurant. We ordered multiple appetizers, had several drinks, sat at the bar for quite a while, and honestly about to leave thinking this was a place we would probably come back to. That changed the second the bill arrived. Buried into the check was a 7% "kitchen surcharge." In other words, the restaurant decided to pass along kitchen payroll costs directly onto the customer without being upfront about it. If you're not paying close attention, you could easily end up tipping on top of that surcharge as well, essentially paying an extra hidden fee without realizing it. At a restaurant positioning itself as upscale and classy, this came across as incredibly tacky and cheap. Pay your staff properly and price your menu accordingly instead of sneaking surprise fees onto the bill at the very end. That's not hospitality. That's the kind of nickel and diming people expect from budget airlines, not a supposedly high end dining experience. It completely ruined what had otherwise been a nice night. We were seriously considering coming back before this happened. Now we won't return.
