An 8:30 traditional service for early birds. 9:30 Sunday schools for all age groups and interests. Then there is an 11:00 traditional service. During that time there is a modern "rock" worship service downstairs in the fellowship hall. I usually go to the 11:00 traditional service. The choir sings beautifully with voices from soprano to bass. The pastors are skilled and welcoming. Also, the acolytes are very skilled. There ministries are very good especially the massive operation of community assistance. I recommend this service to all people looking for a new church.

Separate from the main campus, HUSL has a wonderful location right down from the embassies on Van Ness Street. Tree lined streets with convenient Metro access to an area that is a well balanced mix of a commercial and residential neighborhood is where you will find the school. The law library is huge. Although it is 20 years old, the library was built for the 21st Century. There are plenty of tables where you can plug in and type/surf away. There are also row after row of books for those that wish to get lost between the pages. Inside the school you will find classrooms that have seen generations of students come, grow, and then move out into the world to make an impact. The classroom environment is one of interest and learning. The students want to learn. And if they are not in class, it is common to come across a group of students studying in the halls or in the small study rooms. Do yourself a favor, look for quality and the ability to change the world. When you look, ask yourself, "Am I ready to HUSL?"

My parents were told that getting me to use my voice and my ears was very, very important. They got hearing aids for me and made sure I had speech therapy. Fortunately, they realized rigid oralism wasn't the best approach, and they started learning American Sign Language shortly after transferring me to a school for the deaf. AG Bell should be held accountable for the following: -centuries' worth of bad-mouthing signed languages and Deaf people who speak signed languages; -centuries' worth of condoning language deprivation; -decades worth of promising parents that hearing aids/cochlear implants will make the deaf child function like a hearing person. (Cochlear implants: 22-33 channels vs. an average hearing person's 6,000 channels...) All Deaf children, regardless of their hearing level, have the right to access to their country's signed language, as signed languages provide them with 100% visual language access. YELP IS PRACTICING CENSORSHIP.

The campus is well-kept and secluded with ample parking on the *weekends*. On weekdays, I'm not so sure =/ There isn't enough signage so I had to walk in circles a couple of times to find the building I was looking for. My meeting was on the 3rd floor. I took the elevator and I blinked and seriously thought I landed in the 1950s. The flooring was worn and the walls has faded colors - there was character. I can deal with older buildings but my biggest issue were the bathrooms. There were 3 stalls and none of the doors closed. Oh yeah, and there was a huge gap between the stall door so you could see all your business and then some hanging out. It's hard to visualize but trust me, I had to strategically plan my visits to the bathroom so I wouldn't have an embarrassing story to tell someone else later on. I'm not sure if I plan to come back but if I do, I'll bring masking tape.

The academic expectation is at a high level. The swim and dive team are the only swim and dive team in existence for the HBCU's. The coaches are phenomenal and spend a lot of time developing the swimmers. There is a swim/dive camp for youth in the summer that attracts children all over the United States and Internationally.
