My husband and I took the Baby Bootcamp class in mid-December. The class was conducted via Zoom and was well-run, informative and interactive. While we would have loved to have taken it in-person in different circumstances, we appreciated having a safe and virtual option in these strange times. Shoutout to Lillian for the Childbirth portion of the class, who was phenomenal. I hope she's working when we go into labor! I did have a little trouble signing up for the class online, as the registration seemed to be down but I emailed them and Taylor, the Stork intern, got back to me right away and helped us get signed up! I would highly recommend the class to anyone looking to get a comprehensive and interesting childbirth/parenting class. read more

On the other hand... this class was held at an empty medical office which wasn't the greatest setup for the PowerPoint presentation. My husband and I just left our baby boot camp with Stork Childbirth Education and truly feel like we wasted our time and money. The PowerPoint was in a hard to read font, and had far too much text on each and every slide. The first instructor showed up 3 minutes before class was supposed to start and was not an effective instructor. She spoke quietly, was not engaging, and fidgeted the whole time - scratching her scalp, rubbing her eyes, rubbing her face, pulling up her bra straps. I don't expect a course on labor and delivery to be the most exciting, but the lack of energy and enthusiasm for the content was disappointing. The second instructor was a much better presenter. At the end we practiced putting a 0-3mo onesie on a ~9 month old dummy, practiced changing a diaper, learned two swaddle techniques, and quickly learned CPR and what to do if baby is choking. The instructors made sure to mention lunch (which included lunch meat - a frequent food on the 'do not eat during pregnancy list') was sponsored by a private cord blood bank, as were the gift bags of formula and the raffle. It felt slimy and like a cheap plug. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this whole class was my husband and I spent nearly $300 to sit in a stuffy doctor's office for 6 hours and we don't even get access to the slides! Instead, they gave us links to two packets that are nearly identical and list book recommendations. I'm giving 2 stars because the second half of the presentation had some interesting facts about birthmarks and jaundice that I didn't know, and the second presenter was at least engaging. Unless you are staring from 0 knowledge about labor and delivery, or caring for a newborn I would say save your money and save yourself a Saturday. read more

Took the 3 hour infant care and CPR class and feel so much more educated and empowered to not kill our future child. Julia presented this evening and did a great job of pacing the presentation with lots of helpful photos and advice. Topics covered included feeding, sleeping, diapering, what to expect at the hospital, bathing, and normal and abnormal rashes or illness. Breaks (with tasty hearty snacks and drinks) were well timed and we had just enough hands on time for swaddling, diapering, CPR and choking procedures. Props to the thoughtfulness of language used in class to be inclusive of partners of all kinds though the dolls used and photos of babies could have been more diverse. (Maybe CPR dolls only come in white?) And one of the conditions did mention commonalities among race, but I know jaundice is also more common in east Asian babies so those kinds of things could be helpful to know if you have parents in the room that's relevant for. Well worth the time and $165 fee per couple. We'll definitely be signing up for the childbirth and breastfeeding classes. Pro tip - pay attention during the first part of class because there's a pop quiz with a really great gift basket as a prize. Had a couple things in the basket that I had on my registry that I don't have to ask for anymore (thermometer, sleep sack, changing pad), overall close to $200 worth of useful stuff! read more

We did the baby bootcamp class and now that baby is here are SO glad we did! Flynn and Lauren are fantastic and these classes are incredibly helpful. The teachers we had were very knowledgeable! The information on labor really helped demystify the process for first time parents like us. And the childcare and CPR portions made me feel way more prepared to take care of a tiny baby! Highly recommend their classes. Also special shout out to them for taking care of my partner, who passed out briefly during the class (he doesn't do super well with medical information). The nurse running the class jumped into action and helped him out. He was good and the class continued on. (And he managed to make it through the actual birth without passing out! I can't recommend this enough! Lauren gave us a private CPR and choking class with our nannies and it was so incredibly helpful. I hope I never have to perform CPR, but I feel confident to now have the necessary skills in the event of an emergency. Lauren was thorough and explained everything perfectly. She also answered all of our questions and helped us feel at ease. I will recommend this to all of my friends who are parents or who are expecting. Peace of mind: Stork offers a variety of classes that are great for first time parents/moms. Nothing you couldn't read from a book or on a blog but they go through the basics and are available to answer questions during and after class. It's also nice to hear from and meet other local moms-to-be since they might have questions or experiences that you didn't think of! Helpful content: It's nice to hear from the nurses and professionals in-person. Personally, I feel like I forgot most of it so I would recommend taking the classes in the last 2 months of your pregnancy. I also recommend taking notes and reviewing them. Some presenters were better than others. They could all work on delivery and make the presentation font easier to read. Overall, great content without being too overwhelming. It's nice that the content sounds familiar when you hear it again or experience it yourself down the road. Convenient: They have a few locations and varying days/times makes it easy to plan ahead and work into your schedule. Costly but about average for this area and I would say worth it. read more

I attended an excellent and thorough infant and child CPR class through Stork Childbirth Education. The instructor Amy was great! She was very informative and took time to answer all questions. Everyone in the class had their own practice dummy, which was nice because we did not have to sit around and wait for people to take turns. We arranged a private CPR class at our house due to our schedules. Flynn got back to my email request within a few hours and helped set it up. I was especially surprised because he found someone who could come at 830pm, our first choice, which I had asked because it doesn't hurt to ask but didn't think anyone would be willing. Sally arrived with goodie bags and a friendly smile. We learned a lot and some tricks that I am positive will stay in my mind even under the most stressful of circumstances - which was my fear. Will I forget all this when the time comes? Late-summer I realized that all of my baby books were collecting dust on the shelves, and I hadn't started reading the 10,000 blogs recommended to me by friends, despite my rapidly approaching due date in October! This wasn't out of a lack of caring or because I thought I had a handle on things- I was just overwhelmed by a move, getting my business ready to be out of the office and of course all of the other things that find their way onto our to-do lists. Stork was a LIFESAVER. I had heard terrible things about the courses at hospitals being a poor use of time, so was reluctant to spend precious weekend time at the hospital. My husband had suggested watching YouTube classes but that wasn't extremely inspiring to me and I didnt know of anything online that would definitely teach us all that we needed to know. Then I found Stork and it was the BEST 3 hours I think we've spent during the pregnancy. (well, 6 total because I did the CPR / Infant Care and then the Breastfeeding class). The classes were informative, it was fun, the teachers were so easy to listen to and all-in-all it gave me tremendous peace of mind as I mentally started transitioning into what the first few months with baby were going to be like. As first-time parents to be, my wife and I felt we could use some guidance, and Stork helped tremendously. We took the baby care and breastfeeding classes, and they provided a great starting point for knowing what we can expect when baby comes. The infant cpr was invaluable, and we feel much more confident in our abilities to handle an emergency. Due to our work schedules, we couldn't attend the mid-week classes, so we signed up for private in-home classes on the weekend, and we loved the personal one on one setting.
