A perfect place to make you feel like you're on a mini get away. All tickets must be purchased online and ahead of time. They are following the states restrictions and operating at a 33% capacity. I arrived at 10:30 am to get in line. It opens at 11:00. I was 4th in line and didn't get to a parking spot until 11:30. The procedure to get in is intense. Your ticket has to match your id. Then they literally search you entire car- they go through everything and open all bags, coolers, consoles, and glove box. Do not bring alcohol or drugs- they will find it and it's forbidden. Google the story as to why they are so strict- makes sense. Now on to the fun part! The space is beautiful, the water is so clear, and we had a great day of social distancing on the water. People watching was great, and it is somewhat like a float competition to see who has the most fun, instagram worthy float. Be ready to see plenty of fish. The area closest to the parking lot is more "rowdy", younger crowd, verses the opposite side was a little quieter, older crowd. All in all, I will be back now that I know what to expect. read more

I had high hopes for this place, however was a overrated overpriced place Ticket situation * You have to purchase tickets online. * OVERPRICED * you have to supply way more information than needed when you are filling out the waiver for your ticket. * If you would like to go out for lunch, think again because they will not allow you back in without more money. Car search * expect for a sweaty guy that has been swimming all day in his swim trunks and no shirt to touch all over every inch of your car, also taking the lid off, sticking his nose in and having a sniff inside your cup. He also will take his time to check every compartment while you have to stand outside your car. Rentals * they do have rentals for a pretty penny. If you forget a float which is necessary or you are kicked out. Entrance shenanigans * If you have a car any bigger than a Sudan you are probably going to get stuck at the entrance turn. * If you make it past the entrance you have to doge the potholes to the parking spots. Catfish * fish are neat to see and watch but when it come to cliff jumping you have to keep an eye out with so you don't land on a 10 pound catfish. First of all, buy your tickets in advance online. Due to COVID, capacity is limited. Have your order number and your ID ready because they will check it. The thing I enjoyed most was that it was adults only and no alcohol. Your cooler and car will be searched (and yes, it was a bit invasive). But if you obey the rules and don't try to sneak stuff in, you won't have any issues. Every staff member we were in contact with was friendly and helpful. We found a quiet spot away from where the rock jumping was taking place. Someone had a great playlist going and we enjoyed the day. Be sure to bring a float but if not, there were pool noodles for sale. With COVID, I'm hesitant to go to theme parks and community pools. The quarry was such a fun experience and definitely something awesome to try in the summer! I have been wanting to go for so long but haven't had the chance until recently. I had heard mixed reviews, some saying it was great and others saying it was trashy. I thought it was very nice and enjoyable! It's a beautiful sight, first of all, with large rocks covering about halfway around the water. They've got a diving board and designated rocks to jump from, along with cute little decor around the area like life boats, a "sunken" boat, etc. It's a very large, open area so I felt like our group was able to have plenty of privacy and not feeling like we are on top of other people. The process to get in is a little confusing. First, you'll need to stop at the little shack up front, sign a waiver and pay to get in ($15.) Next, you'll drive your car through to the next shack where they will search your car. I understand that they have certain rules and that lawsuits have happened in the past, but I don't like the "no alcohol" rule. Sure, I'm sure it saves them from bad things happening but it's definitely not going to stop people from sneaking it in. The car search they perform too is a bit invasive, as they will look through every nook and cranny in your car, with the cops right by their side. Overall though I had a lot of fun here. You do need a floatie to get in the water, but trust me, you'll want one. I also recommend trying to stay away from the shallow ends, as there are more fish (one bit my boyfriend and left a huge red mark on his leg!) You can bring coolers, food, chairs, whatever you need to hang around and relax for the day. FRP definitely needs to be on your summer bucket list. read more

The quarry is a place where everyone should go to at least one during the summer. My friends and I have been talking about going to FRP for a long time and we finally said we are going. The quarry is huge. There is plenty of space for everyone to float around and not feel like you're on top of other people. It also has different rocks and docks that you can jump off. There are tables around so if you brought food, you have a place to eat. My favorite thing is that you have to be 18 or older to get in so you don't have to deal with bratty kids and parents that won't discipline their kids when they are acting out. Getting into the quarry was a process. There is a long line of cars, you park your car, go sign a waiver, pay 15 dollars, get back in line, have your car examined, then find a parking spot. Also, they have a"no alcohol" policy. Apparently people decided to drink, drive drunk, got in a wreck and tried to file a lawsuit against FRP. I understand why they banned alcohol, but the car search for it does seem a little much since they do a lot of digging and there are cops right next to them. Overall, my friends and I had a blast. It is something different when you are trying to figure out what to do during a hot day. Friendly reminder: you have to have a floatie for safety reasons. If you are looking for something to do and not have to worry about kids, FRP is a good option! read more

I found this place during Covid summer 2020 and have been a season pass holder ever since! This is a hidden gem. clean, beautiful water, relaxing, no drama (no alcohol or funny business), and nice people. They have a beach and some docks to swim to in the water. RACIST !! Wow ! I wish I read the reviews before visiting. They made me feel very unwelcomed before we even paid 40 dollars for two people. I thought it was a bit much for a swimming hole. They made us fill out our wavier at the top of the hill before coming back down. When we came back they proceeded to search the vehicle for not even 45 seconds before saying it was alcohol in a WATER bottle, it was just juice that sat in the sun. It was a clear container & we had multiple juices. I asked him to smell again he said no because he "saw" me put it in there when I went to the top of the hill & that I was trying to hide it from him . He admitted to watching us on camera unprovoked! Requires you to have a floatie of some sort (though you can rent one for the day if you'd like) 18 and over is a definite plus (no screaming or crying...from children at least) Can bring in your own food and drink ("no alcohol" though, and in the 3-4 hours we were there we saw police come through at least once an hour, if not more) and no glass. I still remember the first time I visited The Quarry(Maybe 2008-09ish). I couldn't believe there was a place like this so close to Louisville. It reminded me of home, but much cleaner. Back home it's all creeks and lakes.. dirty creeks and lakes. Creeks and lakes where you have to worry about weeds on your feet, snakes, and anything else you can imagine. I don't go every year but I do visit regularly during the years that I go. This last visit was different. Different in how militant they've become about bringing in outside alcohol. A non-issue for me because I'm not one that wants to drink out in the sun and around water all day. Another reviewer seemed upset about this. Yes it can seem weird and possibly invasive with them loosely going through your car, but can you blame them? A lot of people in one place with the potential for drowning. Add alcohol to the mix? Yeah.. that's not a lawsuit/investigation I'd want on my hands either. The Quarry gets a solid 4 from me. This place is usually crowded, but nothing too crazy. There are a few entry points around the watering hole. My only peeve about those entry points are how some groups like to crowd around them. It's not an issue walking through people, but come on guys... there's an entire pond here to float around. Don't be a nuisance. As I said before, it's clean. That's likely due to no alcohol and everyone cleaning up after themselves. Let's keep it that way. There are numerous things under the water, but I won't tell you what those are. You'll just have to find them yourself. There are also places to jump into the water. They've added a large blob that you can jump on and launch people into the air. You have to bring a float - but really, any type of float will do. You can bring a pool noodle and that's fine. You can bring food and they have grills to use. They usually have a food truck available if you want to buy food. COVID-19 restrictions made things a little different. However, they added a feature to buy your ticket online and I loved that. This is for those 18 years and up. No alcohol allowed and they take that seriously by checking your car as you come in. Floats are required as the water is deep and the terrain is rugged. Its normally $15 per person but they had a $10 special when I went. When you drive up, they have you sign a waiver and go over the rules. The rules are meant to ensure all are safe and have a good, clean time. This place was very clean..no trash anywhere! Its also pretty laid back. You can bring chairs, tents, and food. Moat people seemed to be staying all day and were even vegging out. They had a food truck show up around 1:00 or so with the standard hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips. No vegetarian options besides fries/chips. There was plenty of room to float around. They have rocks to jump off of, a basketball hoop in the water, paddleboards for rent, and a wooden deck that hangs over the water for more serious jumping/diving. A group of scuba divers were practicing...awesome! Catfish and bass were swimming around in the more shallow areas..no fishing allowed! I noticed a couple of small charcoal grills. Its really beautiful here. The water was warm and relaxing. Its a total hidden gem. This would make a great date. It seems most people were there with a significant other while there were also 2 or 3 bigger groups of folks. It would be a bit awkward to go here alone. There isn't really a beach area so its not a place to lay out on land or read a book. Instead, bring a friend, float, and food and enjoy the water! read more

This was my first time at the Quarry. It is about 40 minutes from Louisville. It's important to know during COVID that you need to purchase your ticket on-line before you arrive. There are limited number of tickets available and sale is not available when you get there. I felt there was a lot of space around the quarry to spread out comfortably. We arrived about 20 minutes before they opened. The employees check your order number and id upon entering, so make sure to have it ready. It does take time to get in, so be sure to plan accordingly. The employees also checked cars upon entering. I wouldn't suggest trying to sneak anything in, they are pretty thorough. The employees had carts available to take you from your car to a spot near the water. They also came periodically in the afternoon to take you back to your car, just not as frequent. Overall, it was a fun and relaxing day. They had an area where guests could jump in. And plenty of space to float around. Make sure to bring your own float and a pump to blow it up. The FRP LaGrange Quarry is a wonderful spot to beat the heat and relax. It's like visiting a rocky beach, without the sand! The best part was that no kids are allowed, so the vibe is fun and chill (the young adults do make a bit of noise but we had a blast people watching and rooting them on). If you go, you MUST wear water shoes, because the rocks will hurt your feet, and the bottom of the quarry is slick with algae. Unless you arrive at the beginning of the day and can get one of the few shelters, you'll want to bring your own shade with a tent or canopy. They are SERIOUS about all of the rules, so don't even try to bring alcohol or drugs. They search the car more thoroughly than the police, and patrol throughout the day. Unless you pay for VIP parking and access, you'll walk a bit to get to the water from the parking lot. But we didn't mind walking. Even though the air temperature was over 90 degrees, the water was cold and refreshing. There were lots of fish (catfish, bass, and others) that might swim around you, but none really bothered us. I even saw a five-foot fish in the middle of the lake (which reaches depths of 55 feet). You will absolutely want to make sure your float is in good working order. And take the plunge from the high dive, it was a blast. Do NOT forget your sunscreen--we saw a lot of sunburned people who regretted not wearing any. If you leave the quarry, you can't get back in, so bring all your food and drink for the day. There are no food trucks until after Memorial Day. If you need to change, there are changing stalls, and port-a-potties for your bathroom needs. We were pleasantly surprised that no mosquitos bothered us either! As we left, a very nice staff lady offered us a ride to the parking lot on her golf cart. Overall, we had a fun "beach day" and can't wait to return! read more

Opened a wet wipe container sticking fingers down it is how "thorough" the search is, completely unnecessary and insane for regular NOT EVEN LICENSED want to be security cops that they are! Complete invasion of privacy. Once you pull in takes an hour just to even get thru and MAYBE. Enjoy the quarry. To feel like a criminal standing outside your car while they open anything and everything when they have no authority!! What a way to spend a summer Sunday! Pack a cooler, take a little drive into the country, spend hours floating in the clear water of a gorgeous quarry. Don't mind if I do. Make sure you have cash and take your own snacks though. You'll be sorry if you don't. Falling Rock does have very specific rules and a precise system for entry (for which I'm grateful). In a place that is cavernous in parts and doesn't have lifeguards, I'm glad you have to be over 18, have a floatation device, and can't drink. I don't know about other folks, but I don't want my chill afternoon wrecked by tragedy. After setting up a pop-up tent complete with chairs and coolers, our group floated for hours not letting some rain spoil our fun. It was so relaxing to unplug - just hanging out on my pool noodle chatting, watching the birds fly over the ridge and the occasional crazy person attempting stupid human tricks. The two things that keep Falling Rock from getting five stars are the porta-potties and the parking lot. I've never used a good porta-potty, these are no exception. For someone with a small, low-to-the-ground car, this dirt parking lot is harrowing. I worried about getting stuck (in the mud) or blowing out a tire in the deep potholes. If you are able, take a four -wheel drive vehicle or something that sits high. read more

I always enjoy going to the Quarry! It's a beautiful location, and I like that it never feels crowded in the water. There are two designated locations to jump into the water, and this provides some entertainment throughout the day. You are required to always have a flotation device as there is no swimming allowed. They do have a station for those who need to inflate their floats. I didn't give five stars for the following: The check-in process takes forever. They search your car thoroughly (no alcohol allowed!), and the ticket line can take a bit of time as well. Staff is pretty no-nonsense. If you don't get there right as they open, you're gonna be in line for awhile. A couple weekends ago, I got there only six minutes after they opened, and I waited approximately 30 minutes to get in. I had heard about "The Quarry" for several years and just not made it out to see the place for myself. The weather was finally warm enough recently for me to make the trek. Most reviewers have already hit on the high points: no kids, $10 entry fee, bring a floatie (they will inflate it for you if you need them to), and be prepared to use a port-a-potty (side note: there is hand sanitizer close to the one at the float inflating station; the employee said they used to keep it in all the potties but people would steal it). This place is a guaranteed good time. The water is amazingly clear; I would recommend bringing goggles if you want to peer around at the fish and even the submerged car used for scuba diving practice. You'll likely smell a few grills fired up, hear some music from various sides of the lake, and kick back, relax, and enjoy a little slice of heaven while you're there. My day was completed when I went recently and the ice cream truck came by - nothing brings out the kid in me like hearing the tinny rendition of "Turkey in the Straw" that means that ice cream is near. read more

This quarry is fed only by rainwater, not muddy runoff from the surrounding area. It's super clear water, there's plenty of places to park, and they have pavilions and enough tables for everyone to set up for the day...or night, if you prefer to overnight camp on the weekend. The owner is awesome, as long as you're respectful. If you're a dick...don't bother coming. You don't deserve to enjoy this hidden gem. This place sucks. If you're from out of town, don't come here. 1. It's expensive (it's about $15 per person and cash only) 2. It's a dump (it's small and there's broken down chairs that you can sit on to watch people float; or you can pay even more money to rent a noodle) 3. But then, after throwing out the four-pack of beer, and having our car searched, we passed through to the parking area. We were sitting on the rocks near the water and they came back to search our car AGAIN. We told them we threw out the alcohol already (this was super weird bc we told the woman at the front desk that we had beer that we needed to throw away. We then threw it away.). I don't know why it was necessary to search our car twice. But, I didn't ask questions. We unlocked the car and they searched again. No alcohol. So..we're like.. are they going to search us a third time? We hung out near the water and decided to leave. Here's what makes this even more crazy: I DON'T EVEN DRINK!! I love the water and this is an extraordinary water adventure. With COVID there are precautions which I appreciate. We went on a Saturday as a part of my daughter's bachelorette weekend in the middle of September. There is a strict NO Alcohol or Drug policy that is strongly enforced. They do check your car thoroughly to make sure you are not bringing in alcohol or drugs. Again, a good thing. Due to COVID the number of folks allowed in is limited so we had enough space to put our chairs and picnic supplies in safe proximity of other guests. The water is crystal clear and the staff polite and professional as you check in. You had to pre-pay on line which was nice not to have to interact with staff beyond check-in and they having you get out of your car so they could inspect. You have to have a some sort of life raft to be in the water, but what kind is up to you. We had food and water, a floating cooler so we basically spent the entire day in the quarry. We did get out to have sandwiches when we got a little cool later in the afternoon. If you have never been to a quarry to swim you are in for a treat. I was able to paddle around on my float the entire day from one of the quarry to the other. And plenty of space on the shores to put you supplies if you wanna get out of the water. read more

Second time we have been here. Staff is very nice, there are ladders on some higher sides to get in and out of. Other areas have beach like entry points you can walk down into..it is Rocky (duh rock quarry) so be sure to bring flip-flops to walk into water or water slippers. Must always "swim with a float" but that's pretty much it. Love the no booze/drug policy, really keeps the place nice and peaceful where everyone can enjoy it. They also have where you can rent other things like paddle boards or even other floats. Also I saw some community grills, a few select changing rooms and sometimes the local ice cream van rolls through too (seen him both times). It is robbery that you kept money from 4 people that didn't even make it in because they didn't know they had broken a rule. Then the checker said he was joking about it. They had no clue and no one said where or anything. It was asked over and over. The person (young) kept laughing at them and when they asked if he was joking, he said yes. It still wasn't clear that he had really found anything. Who remembers something in cargo usually? She had no idea. Don't let teens or young ppl laugh and act like they are joking, then even say they are joking, which confused everyone in the car. I get there are rules, but if you turn the person around before they make it in, you should refund, as they didn't break any rules if they weren't actually inside. Again, they seriously thought the guy was joking. My daughter, who has an anxiety disorder just spent an hour freaking out because there were cops involved, the manager was horrible and no one in the car understood what was happening until the end of the ordeal when someone FINALLY told them. This was not communicated clearly, which caused more trouble than that place is worth. Also, whoever was in charge needs to learn to be professional! Rudeness and aggressive, condescending tones are trashy by the way. Learn how to treat people fairly. If they actually weren't meaning to break a rule or gain entry, then refund their money! They did not use your space or actually try to break your rules. It is stealing from poor college kids and ruining someone else's birthday over a misunderstanding. One of the best places to hang out, cool off and float on in the summer time! I have been here twice, and have loved both times! This Quarry is like any other Quarry in Kentucky, where you can swim and chill. However, this one has a few specific rules that one needs to follow. First off, $10 to get in and make sure you bring your ID, for it's 18+. No booze. Yes, a shame, but a big liability for this privately owned Quarry. Don't try to sneak it in either, they check your cars and coolers. Bring something to float on as well, for that is a very important rule here (and do provide air pumps to pump up your float!) If you follow all of this, and good with it, I promise you, you will have an awesome time! Food and drinks can come in, and as well as camp-like gear (chairs, tables, etc.) Believe me, the 20ish minute drive from Louisville to the Falling Rock Quarry is well worth it! Although I was a bit astonished at the $22 per person cost to camp overnight, Falling Rock was worth the price. The water was amazingly warm, and the docks and cliffs made for great lounging and terrific jumps. Law enforcement rolling through to check for alcohol and drugs was a bit of a buzz kill, but I had my beverage in a plastic cup and wasn't hassled. At night, there are rumors of a special beach and I met lots of other campers who came to our site for music and to share drinks. Pro tips: 1. Don't camp if you expect rain. The whole place turns to mud, and it's a mess. 2. Bring a serious flotation device. If you try to float just using a Fun Noodle, you'll wind up pooped. read more

Went here for my birthday. This place is awesome. Exclamation point. I was a little scared because my coworkers described it as "redneck paradise," and I'm pretty much a yuppie....but this place was so much fun. You essentially have to jump in off high rocks to get in the water, which is super fun (and terrifying.) When we were there, there was a crowd in the water judging jumps on style. We tailgated out of our cars. You're not supposed to have any glass or alcohol. They searched some of our cars but not others. That said, we were probably about 10 years older than everyone else there :) When you go you should be prepared to spend most of your time in the water, because there's no beach or grassy areas to hang out in. We had a couple lawn chairs but could have used more. Take a look at all the rules and restrictions so you don't get there unprepared. You will need $10 cash, an ID, and a floatie. read more

Holy geez, this place is great. I went here for my first time last month when it was super sunny and super hot... so it was pretty crowded. While paying my $10 (CASH ONLY), they gave me the spiel of rules. As private property, they can enforce their rules and they will make you sign a waiver 18 and over only: honestly one of my favorite rules No alcohol: they will search your car, trunk, and coolers thoroughly. If they find anything, I believe they can refuse you entrance. Food and beverages are allowed otherwise, so have a picnic! Everyone in the water must have floatie: no biggie. a simple pool noodle would suffice. Stay away from the edges and rocks: its called falling rocks for a reason. We found our spot and, set up our space and proceeded to spend the entire afternoon in the water. Bring a chair, or something to set up some shade or a blanket, The grounds are very clean (probably aided by their rules of 18 and over and no alcohol), the only bathrooms they have are port-o-potties. My sunburn from my first trip is all better so I am ready to go back! read more

From the moment I entered, I was uncomfortable. You have to sign your life away just to enter. There are about 10 disclaimers on the sheet. The staff are abrupt and condescending. I'm not exaggerating when I say one rule is 'no swimming'. It's too absurd to be believed. They bark their many rules at you at every opportunity. They treat their guests like dumb drunks although between the car searches and the big signs as you enter, it is clear there is no alcohol allowed. But then why is it necessary to have a sign that says 'absolutely no underage drinking'?Or 'no drinking related games'? Doesn't that imply an adult could drink a beer by the water? It is too much to hope for any logic. During the 30 or so minutes we stayed, I was thinking that this would be a pretty nice place with about a quarter of the people and none of the attitude and rules. Too bad. read more

The quarry doesn't allow alcohol which is a completely understandable policy. We went through with the signing a waiver of liability and then an invasive car search. When they found one stray Downeast Austin Cider that we forgot was in our cooler, rather than just letting us toss it they immediately cut our wristbands and demanded we leave. They bombarded us with unnecessarily confrontational and accusatory remarks that we were dishonest and lying. Needless to say there was no offer of a refund. I was simply shocked and confused. Have never experienced anything like this. Just a fair warning to potential visitors. This was a hostile and unpleasant environment. read more
