My fiance and I were so impressed after the initial consultation and knew we had to have her as our planner. Right after we booked OUATE, my fiance and I had a meeting with Jessica and basically told her everything we wanted, what we didn't want and what we dreamed of having but didn't think we could afford. She also had us fill out a questionnaire to get a sense of our style, get to know us and get an idea of what we envision for our dream wedding. After reviewing everything we gave her, she created a design board with everthing we had talked about. I loved how we got to go thourgh and point out what we liked and what we didn't like. This gave us a great sense of what our wedding was going to look like. Since I had a very hard time picking a theme and staying with that direction, this really helped me get on track and focus on one thing at a time. This also really helped me stop stressing and feeling overwhelmed and let me enjoy the wedding planning process. As a bride, I knew I wanted to be involved in the fun stuff but not the boring, budget related stuff. Jessica was amazing at handling all the stuff I didn't want to do or did not know how to do. We gave her our total budget and she planned around that very well and helped us stay on track. She also did all of the orders (which were a ton since we had our wedding at private estate and had to bring everything in) and delt with the most of our vendors. She has a great working relationship with a ton of wedding vendors in Reno that she was able to get things done and get them done fast! And she had wonderful recommendations for our wedding vendors. We loved them all! During the whole wedding planning process Jessica and her sister, Cassie kept us on track and made sure we were getting things done when they needed to be done. I loved how they took all of my ideas and wishes and made them happen without any questions. The whole time, they were professional but so nice and fun to work with! It made wedding planning a lot of fun! The day of the wedding, I had absolutley nothing to worry about. I sat in the house and got ready while Jessica, Cassie and her team set everything up and dealt with all the vendors. The wedding was not too big but the whole production of it was a lot! We had a ton of flowers, a fire pit, a dessert bar, photo booth, a lounge and a ton of details such a signage and personalized items. Jesssica and her team were so organized and executed everything PERFECTLY! It was above and beyond anything I had even imagined. They took my vision to the next level and made it better than I could had ever wished for. Jessica and Cassie kept the wedding on track the whole night and everything went off witthout a hitch. My husband and I nor our wedding party or family had to lift a finger, it was amazing! We got to spend our time enjoying ourselves while OUATE delt with everything else. I…read morechecked them out online and then Yelp as I had never heard of this place which surprised me since they opened 10 years ago. The positives - the staff is incredible. Our server Lydia was so kind and helpful, helping us navigate the current menu. So helpful in follow up on the reservation, bartender was really great working with me to find an alternative to the mocktail I had found from the last menus posted here. He also did the expo bringing out the food. I loved the reviews here. Portions seemed to fit fine dining, the menus seemed to be reasonable with lots of options etc. They do take reservations through OpenTable. Making the reservation was really easy. I put notes on OpenTable. They called ahead to confirm our needs. Everything was really responsive and accommodating. We booked for 7:30pm due to work commitments but didn't expect the difficulty in finding parking. If you're dining on a reservation, please give yourself time to find parking. A lot of restaurants and businesses share the area and availability was difficult even for a Thursday night. We had a wheelchair and mobility challenges so it took us longer than expected to park. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant but it's not dedicated. Also, they close at 8:30pm. Be aware of this as well and clarify that they do not have to wait between appetizers etc to bring the next course. Our food was spaced out accordingly but didn't really work too well for the birthday, the parking, pivoting on the menu and choosing alternates etc. I loved the esthetic of the restaurant, it has a beautiful outdoor space, cobblestone patio though (we had to 4 wheel a touch with the wheelchair) and there's a bit of a slope in places. Food - Bread and butter was fresh and the truffle butter was delicious. We had five peoplr so one order gave us each one piece of bread each without heels. The Bruschetta was SOOO good! We got that next and we devoured it. Fried mushrooms were next and this is where we are reminded that we need to ask more questions about what we are ordering. They we kindof shaved and fried, on a small plate layered on top of some creme freche. If you like different mushrooms, you may love them but they were a special. I don't know how often they change the specials. The most current menus are scaled down. The mocktail selection seems to fit the Midtown/downtown patterns of crafted NA aperitif use so if you like crafted drinks without the alcohol flavor like I do, there's really not much variety. The bartender did try and my garnish was great but it still had a strong citrus flavor and after adding more soda water (bottled) to cut the flavor, it was $14 for a drink with no alcohol. The pasta was al dente? Maybe too al dente or perhaps by the time our dinner was prepared just didn't have the time to cook it as well. I don't know if this is usual but the gnocchi and spaghetti were a bit too undercooked for our taste. The chicken was excellent and my daughter's friend loved it. We all tried my mom's lobster ravioli and the pasta was less al dente, the bisque had a pleasant flavor. I think perhaps tomato based is where they really shine. The pesto was alright, decent flavor but more salty/earthy. I'm hoping as leftovers, the flavors marry more and the pasta softens. The smashed potatoes are actually just cubed roasted red potatoes. I should have done a bit more research as I am a mashed fiend but with the garlic aioli, was pretty good. The cauliflower gratin had a good flavor too but I didn't really expect such large pieces with that as well and kindof expected more of a toasted crust. Flavorful but maybe cooking was rushed by the time we got our main order in. Overall, it was an experience and one I'm glad we had but it's gonna be a one and done for us. Maybe an earlier seating will get a different result. This was our first time so it may be better and we just got them on a bad night. Service was 100% and the staff was great, tipped in cash.

Vesta and I have photographed a lotta weddings and wedding receptions and we've seen our fair share of DJs and Katie and Matt are among the best in Reno. And they're fun people too. So, you can't go wrong with them. And it's really nice when your DJ is personable, friendly and actually cares about the bride and groom and their guests. And it's really nice when they keep the reception rolling along the way it's supposed too. Vesta and I photographed one wedding where the DJ forgot the bouquet and garter toss. Another where the DJ didn't do the bouquet toss till after most people had gone home, cuz he was so boring and there were only two girls left to catch the flowers. We've worked with Katie and Matt twice and both times they steered the reception along without issue, while staying in tune with the bride and her wishes, even though her wishes may change throughout the evening. Like us, Katie and Matt put the bride first. They are there to do a job and they work for the same person we do, the bride. Her wishes come first. It's her wedding, her special day. Not all DJs know this. Sadly, neither do all photographers. We know it and one of the reasons we like working with Katie and Matt so much is because they know it too. PS. What a performance! When I called him I explained that we only had about $60, he was so cool about it and said he could do a demo show for us that lasts around 20 minutes. According to comments from our guests, "That was an awesome surprise!" "Seriously?, I never thought you could see a show like that in your own backyard!" The fire show consisted of 5 elements: 1. single chuck, 2. double chuck, 3. triple staff, 4. fire breathing The 5th element was brought indoors and the fire was replaced with LED glo-chucks! If your having a party and you have a safe area for a fire show I would definitely recommend calling him, his prices are unbelievable and the show is one your friends will never forget!
