If you're a bride reading this, know this, your DJ can make or ruin your reception or they can make it just average. And don't get me wrong, an average reception isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a wonderful wedding reception is a wonderful thing. When your guests are dancing to beat the band at the end of the evening, when they don't wanna go home, cuz it seems like the fun's never gonna stop, when that happens you know you had a great DJ or DJs as far as Katie and Matt are concerned, cuz you get two for the price of one. Vesta and I have photographed a lotta weddings and wedding receptions and we've seen our fair share of DJs and Katie and Matt are among the best in Reno. And they're fun people too. So, you can't go wrong with them. And it's really nice when your DJ is personable, friendly and actually cares about the bride and groom and their guests. And it's really nice when they keep the reception rolling along the way it's supposed too. Vesta and I photographed one wedding where the DJ forgot the bouquet and garter toss. Another where the DJ didn't do the bouquet toss till after most people had gone home, cuz he was so boring and there were only two girls left to catch the flowers. We've worked with Katie and Matt twice and both times they steered the reception along without issue, while staying in tune with the bride and her wishes, even though her wishes may change throughout the evening. Like us, Katie and Matt put the bride first. They are there to do a job and they work for the same person we do, the bride. Her wishes come first. It's her wedding, her special day. Not all DJs know this. Sadly, neither do all photographers. We know it and one of the reasons we like working with Katie and Matt so much is because they know it too. PS. All of our guest had a lot of fun dancing the night away in Tahoe and the MC made sure everything ran smoothly and on time (which was important since our venue, Ehrman Mansion, was a big stickler on time). We knew we were going to go with Matt and Katie as soon as we got engaged. We have seen them at many events and weddings and they always did an amazing job. From the beginning it was so easy to work with them. They were very responsive with every question we threw at them. The biggest concern we had was how were we going to get our style of music and what we liked most to them. One of my bigger concerns with the whole wedding planning! They made it as easy as I could imagine. That took a lot of weight off our shoulders for the big day! They started off with coming to our rehearsal and that helped us get the groove and feeling of how the wedding would go. It made us all so much more at ease for the next day. They could work out all the kinks and know what they were getting into with our venue being a private home. I'm not sure if I can describe how amazing they did on our wedding day but I will try. They nailed exactly what we wanted for each part. The cocktail hour (of what I could hear) sounded amazing. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. As the night went on Matt did a fantastic job with introductions, every song for the formal dances went off without a hitch. All of the songs started and stopped exactly were we wanted them. Then the dance party started!! We had people on the dance floor all night. They played all of the types of music we wanted and played everything we wanted to hear! I could not imagine our wedding going as well as it did without them! I will recommend them to anyone and everyone. They made our wedding day much more incredible! Matt and Katie did an amazing job DJ-ing our wedding in September. When I found them I just knew I had to immediately book them because I figured my date would go fast, so I finalized everything about a year and a half in advance. So glad I did because I cannot imagine anyone doing a better job than them! We received so many compliments on the music choices, and more than a handful of people said there wasn't one song played they didn't care for. They kept people on the dance floor until the reception wrapped up. I love that they were all ours for both the ceremony and reception, plus made a point to attend the rehearsal the day before. The package they have created for weddings is so fitting and truly a fair price. I know they have increased the price for the package I received since then, but I would still pay the new price for the awesome service and really making the reception what it was. If that's not enough talent for you, they are also amazing at creating signs. Their business name is DoWell Signs and I highly recommend them for bringing what you have in mind to life. There was a mishap that I feel I need to be honest about, but it doesn't take away from their quality of work and the overall rating. Although some communication about finalizing the signs and choosing exactly what we wanted to move forward with could have been better leading up to the wedding day, the work delivered was flawless and exactly what I wanted. The bummer part was I never received a quote like I was supposed to for the signs and ideas I had until the day before we needed them, and I was far too busy with everything else to pick and choose what I wanted to move forward with, and they had already made ALL the signs that I wanted just quotes for first. I know they had other events going on during the whole summer, but I felt they were too busy to make a point to get me the quote we had agreed upon in advance. They definitely were supposed to get me a quote weeks in advance and it just never came, regardless of me keeping in touch with them. In fact, the invoice was higher than anticipated and we still had to end up paying for their labor time for the ones I didn't get a chance to say I wanted created or not. I had to deal with finalizing a payment arrangement on the actual wedding day, so I wasn't thrilled about how that was handled and it was very rushed towards the end. I would still recommend them, but I would make a point to handle all invoicing and payments before the event day because that part wasn't organized well and I ended up paying for it. A part of me feels like I deserved some type of an apology, but I don't know if they realized their mistake or cared to own any part of it. The event is in the past and it still turned out great, and if I had to do it all over again, I would still choose Matt and Katie. read more

They DJ'd our wedding and were a joy to work with! They were easy to set up a setlist with and provided great input whenever we weren't sure on what we wanted to do with a given song. During the event they nailed all the pre-set song cues (even the obscure foreign songs) and were quickly able to look up a specific soundtrack for an impromptu event put on by the best man. They did a great job emceeing and kept everything moving on schedule. During the dancing they did a good job playing a mix of dance beats and were great when we requested that they "dial it back a decade or two" to help get the less hip people in the crowd out on the dance floor. read more

For the ceremony, they blended the songs so well and knew exactly the flow we were looking for. BEST.DJS. EVER! Matt and Katie went out of their way to make sure our wedding music had the sound we were hoping for. Our wedding music was even better than we ever thought it could be. They were able to read the crowd and keep everyone dancing all night. They accommodated all of our various requests (and there were a lot of them). It was always easy to get ahold of them and make any last minute changes. Even though they are the best DJs we have ever been at an event with, their prices were extremely reasonable and they came in well under many of the other DJs we had contacted. First off let me say, I don't usually write reviews; But, Matt and Katie did so much for us I literally couldn't help myself. Everyone wants to have 'that dream wedding' and of course everyone plays their part, but the DJ is absolutely critical. Matt and Katie didn't just deliver as a DJ/MC, they created some of the most thrilling and fantastic memories for us and for that I am truly grateful. Katie had stated that 'Matt and herself were a team, even if they sometimes work on the events separately' and let me tell you, this couldn't be more accurate. I wanted to do something special to surprise my bride and the morning of the event I asked Katie if she could create some special sounds effects and music for a surprise dance (Katie and team weren't aware of any of this before hand). Not only did she work through these last minute requests, but I later came to find out that Matt was helping through the process creating a lot of the sounds effects, even though he was offsite at another event! I could go on and on about all of the wonderful things that Katie and Matt did for us, but seriously, this team is incredible. They aren't just interested in being phenomenal DJs, they take the time to understand, plan, and execute on what your vision of a 'dream wedding' can and should be. "Do Well Events" by Matt & Katie did a fine job for our wedding and reception in April 2014. We had a small affair and a limited budget, but they did such a nice job and were so friendly during this hectic time of planning. Everyone had a wonderful time. All the music and sound was spot on with what we requested and the timing for the most part was flawless. We did have a small hiccup that WAS NOT THEIR FAULT in timing me (the groom) going up before my bride was ready to follow shortly after. What wedding doesn't have a memorable hiccup you can laugh about later. Their costs were more than reasonable in comparison to other similar entertainment. In fact, I would call their costs a great value for the service provided. I do strongly recommend their services and would not hesitate to hire them again in the future. read more
