Flavors and presentations were so precise, chef Eric presented courses himself and his lovely wife Tina made sure to make everyone feel right at home. The pacing of the meal was perfect, I can't think of anything bad about this experience. Definitely looking forward to return trips in the future.

Part of the charming Gentofte municipality near Copenhagen, just twenty minutes by train, Jordnær dates back to Vildgaard's teen years when cooking gave clarity to troubled youth, his wife and mother of six children described as "someone to live for" serving as front-of-house manager who also greets guests and even answers e-mails. Part of ARP-Hansen Hotel Group's Gentofte Hotel, though nothing about Jordnær feels like a "Hotel Restaurant," it is after greetings from Tina that guests are led to a room both simple and elegant featuring light colors, glass, traditional lamps and a fireplace. Sharpened by three years at noma, though Eric's cooking expands well past fermentation and foraging in favor of ideal Ingredients that sometimes come from outside Scandinavia, opening bites are best enjoyed with Champagne and range from a delicate King Crab Bonbon or Lobster and Roe in a Tuile to a Tart of silky Tuna topped by a spoonful of Ossetra Imperial Caviar. Completely meat-free, though Eric is not a pescatarian, Jordnær's Rosset Waffle has become something of a signature piped with Fjord Shrimp Mousse beneath more Caviar while a Scallop skewered over White Currant Juice and its follow-up of "Langoustine Essence" are each two faultless bites then gone. Assertive with Oysters in a bath of Horseradish and Dill, then pulling the reins with Panna Cotta featuring Asparagus, Grapefruit and Lobster, Caviar makes another appearance as the Vildgaards' favorite Beluga Sevruga variety eaten in several spoonfuls amidst Miso and Black Currant Wood Oil. Never pretentious, Tina and Eric both presenting plates to each table even with Michelin starred Chefs dining alongside their spouses nearby, Amberjack arrives curled on clear glass awaiting Ponzu prior to housemade Bread plus Butter churned nearby. Taking no shortcuts, slowly cooked Turbot showing mother-of-pearl luminescence beneath a thin layer of truffled Farce, the Langoustine used previously for its essence soon arrives whole in warm Sauce before a sizable Takoyaki intended to be bitten in half with Truffle and Caviar consumed before using the bottom as a sponge on the plate. Well portioned with timely service, staff adapting to a diner's speed without a hitch, Dessert begins via smooth Mousse atop Berries before proceeding to a ring of herbal Custard and "Chamomile, Milk, Honey" that replicates a Honeycomb's appearance so accurately that one wonders if it is 3D printed. Not done yet, Mignardises highlighted by French classics and a warm Custard Tart served with Coffee or Tea clipped tableside, a final charming moment amongst dozens occurs as Tina leads guests to the exit and presents them with Bread, Butter and a signed Thank You note along with the menu.

They usually have a special of the day four course menu besides their current itemized menu. Having tried both options, I actually liked picking individual items from the menu rather than the pre-set four course menu. The pre-set one was very Danish, appetizer with Danish fish eggs (yeah, Danish caviar!), smoked salmon with cucumbers, Bornholm chicken and a mazarin cake. They all tasted very good but again it is pretty Danish. On the individual items from the menu, the foie gras appetizer is the best and the lamb dish is also very good. This place makes their own green sauce called "klorofyl" (!) and it is delicious, they serve it with few dishes together. Overall, setting is unmatched with Oresund views, atmosphere is cisp and chic, and the servers do a really good job. We were suprised to be asked how our food was during the meal (you don't always get this in Denmark). Approximate $: 500DKK/person (appetizer, main course, a bottle of wine shared)

The menu is from the same chefs as the Michelin star brother resto also but they do things as snacks, sweets and light eats. You can also get a picnic basket and bring it over to nearby Bellevue Beach and enjoy nature. We had reservations at Den Røde Cottage but were early from the train so we decided to sit on the outside patio and enjoy some drinks here before heading off to dinner. Our server Christian was super nice and recommended a rhubarb and citrus soda made locally in Denmark. He even called over to the other restaurant to let them know we were coming and then sent one of the cooks to make sure we didnt get lost in the trees. Now that's crazy good hospitality. Even without it I can imagine a full meal on the patio on a somewhat warm day overlooking the water during sunset as a great way to spend a lazy day in Klampenborg

THE BEST IN THE WORLD! 5.0+ + +…read more It's hard to imagine that one of the world's most acclaimed restaurants is located on the 8th floor of a football stadium. Yet, that is exactly where we found Geranium. We arrived by taxi at Parken, home to F.C. Copenhagen and the Danish national football team. Waiting for us were two gentlemen who greeted us and directed us toward the elevator. It was a rather unexpected beginning to what would become one of our most memorable dining experiences. As the elevator doors opened on the 8th floor, everything changed. Gone was the feeling of being inside a football stadium. Instead, we entered a beautiful, serene dining room overlooking the treetops of Fælledparken. Geranium calls it "Dinner in the Canopy." With all of their accolades, I could not say that I did not expect a lot. After all, they've earned three medals in the Bocuse d'Or competition (one of each: bronze, silver and gold), three Michelin stars and the ever-so-coveted World's Best Restaurant in 2022 by The World's 50 Best Restaurants. We were in for a treat, but just not knowing the level at which that excellence would reach. We were led to our beautiful, circular table of light-colored wood and stone and to a fabulous view of the open kitchen. As we looked around us, it seemed that most were dressed in business casual. We weren't too sure about the dress code, so we dressed up a bit and absolutely felt at home. The staff were immaculate in their service and presentation. On the table was an upright envelope, held in place by a slotted wooden piece. Nearby were scissors resting on a napkin atop a wooden plate. With the scissors, we revealed the contents of the envelope--the menu. This was a fabulous interactive touch, filling the evening with even more excitement and mystique. My husband decided to choose our own wines for the evening. We usually go with the wine pairing, but he was feeling daring and adventurous. When the Sommelier brought us the wine list, I must have gasped, as it was the largest wine list I had ever seen. It was not a book; it was a novel at nearly 300 pages! With the expert assistance of the Sommelier, my husband chose some wonderful wines and finished our meal off with an ice wine. We dined during their Winter Universe menu. The dishes were beautifully plated and presented with such precision. Just when I thought I had experienced something so wonderful, the next dish would arrive and surpass the former. I was completely delighted with everything: the food, wine, service, pacing and atmosphere. Just when I thought that things could not get any better, we were invited to take a tour of the wine cellar, private rooms displaying a fun portrait of Chef Rasmus Kofoed and Søren Ledet (co-owners of Geranium), a display case with the three Bocuse d'Or statues and the open kitchen. Their wine cellar is astonishing and could have its own separate review. At the time, they housed Dominus (1991, 2007, 2015), Château Margaux (2008) and a Château Mouton Rothschild (1982), to mention a few in a sea of bottles! Upon returning to our table, we enjoyed multiple sweet bites uniquely presented along with a lace-like edible botanical centerpiece of delicate gold Jerusalem-artichoke to resemble leaves and flowers. Our dining extravaganza was over four and a half hours (make it closer to five hours if you include our time chatting with the manager up front). Time flew by as we indulged in the most amazing meal I've ever experienced. We're so fortunate to have been able to dine here and will take these memories with us. In our hearts and taste buds, it will be quite the feat to surpass this gem.

I can't eat fish so I had the vegetarian menu and I don't feel I missed a thing. I can hardly remember all the courses but there are photos below - each was delicious and the standout for me was the truffle soup. A delicious vegetable broth filled with truffles that was like heaven on earth. Maybe the single most delicious dish I've ever eaten in my life. We sat near the kitchen preparation area and loved watching them prepare the dishes, and also had a great kitchen tour. Service was charming and attentive and the servers selected amazing wines to go with the meal. This will go down for me as one of the top three meals I've ever eaten, along with Atelier Crenn and Quince. If you can get to Copenhagen it's worth the trip -- in fact, if you're like me, you might plan your whole European vacation around it, and you won't be disappointed.

We stopped here for dinner last night after walking around Freetown and wanting something warm and filling because the weather was in and out with a light drizzle. We ordered the chicken congee (plus hoison chicken) and a mushroom barley risotto along with their Snickers waffle for dessert because why not. Even though we were virtually the only people in the cafe, the food took a pretty long time to come out. Both of the savory dishes were incredible. The congee was so saltily wonderful and we loved all the toppings (except the excessive amount of peanuts). The dish was rich, but all the veggies cut through everything--so good. The ristotto was equally impressive because the mushroom flavor really popped in the broth they used, and the rest of the accouterments of cheese, sautéed mushrooms, etc, on top really sung. A winner. As for the waffle, what's not to like? A solid preparation with chocolate and peanut sauces drenched on top. No complaints. We thought the total tab was a bit high for what we got, but this is Denmark, so we're getting used to the elevated pricing. We wouldn't say that Grod is worth going out of the way for, but it's a very fine meal if the craving strikes and you happen to be in the area. Four stars, and not a bad start to our trip.
