This place is awesome!! They offer a lot places to park/dock here. They have a fuel station available at the docks. They even have warning signs to make sure your little ones are safe with a life vest before bringing them on the dock. They have a little store for your quick convenient needs before heading out to sea. They even have a great restaurant called FISH TALES. Located on Ft McAllister Rd in Richmond Hill GA. This place is awesome! The staff is always friendly and their service is great. They have a boat lift to hoist your boat in and out of the water. I think they have the largest Boat lift in Georgia. They offer a vast array of useful options to all boat owners from dry storage and wet slips to shore power and fuel. There is even a boat mechanic located across the street from the Marina. And then there is a restaurant called FISH TALES located beside the marina that has outstanding food and service. We keep our 28ft sailboat here and we can't say enough good things about this place. Everybody is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, the floating docks are in great shape, fair pricing and a little store for your needs before you go out and a restaurant (Fish Tales) for when you come back. We just got back from our very first family camping trip and it was a huge success! We stayed in a TENT ONLY campsite for three nights and since I always review everything ... here we go... We couldn't tell when we booked on the Georgia parks website were the tent only sites were. The sites don't highlight on the map when you are on the reservation page and we couldn't find any reviews that clarified it either. There are three choices for tent camping. The pioneer campsite which is restricted to large organized groups (think Boy Scouts), the backcountry campsites (about a mile and a half hike, fire pit, hanging pole, and nothing else), and the electric tent only campsite which is what we chose. The "Electric Tent Only Campsite" is just south of the RV parking. You get a tent pad (which is a box filled with sand, a pole with two hooks (for lanterns and anything else needing to be hung), an electric box with two standard outlets and one larger 220v outlet, a picnic table, and a fire pit with a grill attachment on top. Some of the sites are side by side which would be great if you are social and want to make friends. In this scenario your campfire is close enough to your neighbor's that you could carry on a conversation without yelling. We picked the most exclusive campsite furthest away from the bathrooms for some added privacy but it buts up to RV parking so on the last night an RV parked behind our site and luckily they were quiet people. From what the other campers said, the weekends get pretty noisy but we were there during the week days so it was pretty quiet. There is a noise ordinance after 10pm through 7am and several "HOSTS" that stay in the campground to monitor noise and answer any questions you may have. It is illegal to drink alcohol in a state park, but that didn't seem to stop my neighbors after night fall. You could hear the pop-tops and bottle clinking through the night if you were listening. I suspect it isn't strictly enforced unless someone becomes a problem in the campsite or doesn't take care of their trash and breaks bottles. Though it is still ILLEGAL and shouldn't be done. The campsite is next to the boat dock and those with money were taking their boats and RVs to this park. It seemed like the best deal if you want to boat in the area because there weren't any fees to do this, you just park your boat trailer and truck next to the boat slip and leave it there overnight since the campsites aren't big enough for an RV and boat. There is no swimming allowed in any area. There is a washer and dryer but you have to bring your own soap and there's a a dump site for trash that was very convenient. Firewood was available for $5 for 10 pieces. The park is about 35 minutes from Savannah so we drove up there one day to explore and spent the rest of our time fishing, hiking, camping, and visiting the actual Ft. McAllister. The historical site is amazing! ($9 Per person) Really the only historical site we've been to that is any better is El Morro in Puerto Rico. The history at Ft. McAllister is well documented and we walked away with a very good education from the experiences. Hiking here was flat and really unchallenging which would be great if you were staying in a backcountry site but uneventful for us experienced hikers who are used to the Great Smoky Mountains. I hope this clarifies any questions anyone would have. It was a great trip and we can't wait for our next one. read more

What a nice park. I wish it were a bit warmer when we were there. The restrooms were very clean and well kept. Nice drive through spots. Views are tremendous. Great sunrises and sunsets. You can see a great distance over the marshes. I wish we could have taken the bike trails. Great place. There is even a lil restaurant just outside the entrance on the waters edge. Looking forward to going back. read more
