Tonkotsu Rame R1. Tonkatsu Ramen - Pork Cutlets

I finally had the opportunity to try this place. With the recent cold snap, a bowl of soup sounded like the right call. I've only had ramen once before so I don't have a lot to compare it to but I thought it was excellent. I got the black garlic and my husband got the Tonkotsu Ramen with the fried pork cutlet. I'm not sure how but the pork stayed crispy floating in the broth. The pork in mine was so juicy and delicious, I was sad once I ate it all. The price is reasonable and then portions are large. I had enough for lunch the next day. A great spot all year round d but especially when it is cold out.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Fuku Ramen! We have had a lot of Ramen bowls, and Fuku Ramen is one of the best. Always consistent, delicious and satisfying! Speedy service and wonderful staff. One of our favorite places to eat in Birmingham. The bubble tea is wonderful and so many to try!! If you are looking for comfort food, mild to spicy food or if you are in a time crunch and need something without the long wait then Fuku Ramen is the place to eat....you will be glad you did!!

Fuku ramen has been incredible every time that I go! I love the Steamed Buns and the Black Garlic Ramen! I also tried the Thai milk Tea and it is now a staple every time I go by Our servers have always been friendly and quick The interior is trendy and clean I can't wait to go back soon!

My first experience with Fuku Ramen was in Tuscaloosa with my little sister. We enjoyed it when we went so I was happy to see a location opened here this year. I made a to go order for Black Garlic Ramen, Don Buri Rice Bowl "Mapo Tofu" and Seafood Okonomiyaki. My favorite item by far was the Mapo Tofu. It's a spicy rice dish with ground pork, tofu, scallion, fermented bean paste, and a chili oil sauce. The flavor in this dish made me want it again. 2nd favorite was the Black Garlic Ramen. The flavor was nice and had chashu pork, black garlic, mushrooms, egg, scallions and bamboo shoots. The to go containers for the ramen were functional and well packaged. The broth is at the bottom and your noodles and toppings are separated from the broth in a basket on top. Unsure if this is the usual set up for a to go ramen, but I liked it. I typically eat ramen wherever I order it from and not to go. My let down was the Seafood Okonomiyaki. Something about the flavor and consistency was off for me. One of my friends Mom's used to make the best ones and this did not even come close. Maybe I should have gotten the steam buns instead. Would not order this again, but I would order everything else.

Service was good. We went on a weeknight for my daughter's birthday and there was no one else in there. The soup dumplings took the longest but we were warned before placing the order for that dish. Our ramen all came out warm and delicious. Gyoza was good too!

SO has been wanting to try this new ramen place, so here we are. Cute restaurant, nice employees. The ramen is pretty good.....may be comparable to Bamboo on 2nd without the atmosphere. The noodles have a good chew, and the broth is served hot and very flavorful. The egg tastes good but is a bit overcooked. I agree with another Yelp review that the price is high.....though seems on par with all ramen places in Birmingham. Basically about $20 after tax and tip....honestly that prices me out for the most part. A bowl of noodles in general is just not worth $20 to me.

This is a newer ramen spot here in Birmingham. It is an open seating place with extremely attentive and friendly staff. The food and portion size was really great. They also offer boba tea in a variety of ways. There is plenty of parking and both indoor/outdoor seating. We will definitely plan on coming back!

I am very excited about having Fuku in Birmingham area. Their original location is in Tuscaloosa, and it was one of my top 10 places to eat in 2022 (DM me if you want to full list). I love the authenticity of this place. Nicely laided out in simple classic Japanese decor. The menu is true to a traditional Japanese ramen house. Wait staff and service are helpful and efficient. We dined on Sunday night and started with several appetizers. The Chicken Karage and Rocky Shrimp were my favorites. The fried tofu was good, but tofu doesn't not have a lot of flavor (it's more of a texture). And be careful not to burn your tongue as the tofu is VERY hot. For ramen I tried the Tom Yum. Honestly, the broth did not have that unique sourness that I expect from Tom Yum. It was just okay. My biggest reservation is the cost. I normally don't comment about food cost because there are so many factors involved. $17 for a bowl of ramen seems a bit high to me.

We went here when we were craving noodles and it did not disappoint! For appetizers, we had the purple yam fries, Agedashi tofu, and fried oysters. They were completely gone! There's only one other place in Birmingham that we know that was purple yam fries other than Fuku Ramen. For the ramen, we had the beef ramen (pho style) and black garlic ramen. The beef ramen is a limited special... and RUN, don't walk!! I never thought of pho inspired ramen to be sooo good! The black garlic ramen was also had great flavors to it. We will definitely be coming back!

Oh what a delightful way to enjoy a great meal!! Extremely clean and quaint atmosphere with personable service with great selections to choose from. You really can't go wrong here! Dine in or take out either way you're in for a treat! Be sure to get an Exotic Bomba for dessert it is mind blowing.

IKKO Japanese Fusion…read more IKKO Japanese Fusion was a pleasant culinary surprise! We ordered delivery one night and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We tried both the Salmon and Beef Poke Bowls. The Salmon was outstanding -- fresh and flavorful, easily my favorite. The Beef version was a bit bland and dry for my taste, though. The sides really shined. The Takoyaki (octopus dumplings) were delicious and unique, topped with Takoyaki sauce, tempura scraps, and perfectly cooked. The Gyoza, Japanese Egg Rolls, and Shrimp Tempura were all light, crispy, and excellent. The Squid Salad was also very good and made a nice addition. Overall, a tasty experience with some standout items. We'll definitely be back soon!

Service is always quick and friendly and I usually am able to be seated immediately. Back Forty is huge-with plenty of seating to accommodate large crowds, couples or even families with little ones. There's plenty of big screens to watch the games on, and I would really love to come back during football season to do just that. I ordered their infamous Back 40 cheeseburger on this visit. While it wasn't my favorite, for a brewery it was definitely above average. It was juicy, made to order and fresh. I didn't care for the sauce nor the stringy onions so I would order it plain next time or try something else on the menu. The shoestring fries were well seasoned with something like garlic parmesan. They were my delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful as we placed our orders. This is a cool spot to hang with your friends, drink, eat and watch some sports or watch the trains go by. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. The moment I walked into Seoul Restaurant, I knew I was in for something special. Grandma was relaxing in her recliner watching TV in the dining room, the husband was taking care of the front of the house, the wife was hard at work in the kitchen, and the entire place had the kind of warmth and charm you simply can't manufacture. The service? Let's just say he wasn't there to become my new best friend. He was polite, efficient, and all business. When I asked if I could add cheese to my Army Stew, he immediately answered, "No cheese." From the kitchen, his wife overheard the conversation, called him back, and a minute later he returned with two slices of American cheese anyway. She knew exactly what I was after. It was one of those little moments that made the place feel even more authentic. The homemade banchan was outstanding. Every dish tasted fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and like recipes that have been made the same way for years. We ordered a pajeon, but asked if they could make it with only scallions instead of seafood. Without hesitation, they did--and it ended up being my favorite style of pajeon. Crispy around the edges, tender in the center, and absolutely packed with scallions. Then came the star of the meal: Budae Jjigae (Army Stew). I'd honestly never seen it on a Korean restaurant menu before, so ordering it was an easy decision. The pot was massive, filled with Spam, sausage, beef, ramen, mushrooms, vegetables, tofu, and bubbling spicy broth. It was comforting, hearty, and somehow even better after everything had simmered together. There was so much food that we had leftovers for days, and somehow it tasted even better the next day. What I appreciated most was that nothing about Seoul Restaurant felt trendy or manufactured. The menu focused on comforting Korean classics, the portions were incredibly generous, the prices were more than fair, and every bite felt like it came from a family recipe rather than a corporate kitchen. If you're looking for polished, over-the-top hospitality, this probably isn't your place. But if you want to feel like you've wandered into someone's home, where Grandma is watching TV, the husband is running the dining room, the wife is cooking from the heart, and every dish tastes like it's been perfected over decades... Seoul Restaurant is exactly where you want to be. We'll absolutely be making this a stop every time we're back in Alabama.
