I saw the reviews and people told me about it. So I went, twice. The first time was on a Sunday as I was enticed by their 50% off prices. NOT TRUE. Just a few select items are discounted, and not at 50%. More like 40% for a few, the rest at 20%. 1- The service is absolutely lousy and slow. By the time I ordered my food and saw it in front of me, this nice family of four arrived 10mn after I ordered, ate and left! The restaurant was not particularly busy. Was it because I am Asian? 2- The second time I went was with a friend visiting from Chicago. He LOVES sushi. So we, 2 older gentlemen, dressed in shorts and a Star Wars shirt, arrived at 4.40. Waited about 7mn by the hostess to get seating. We asked for a booth and the said "Sorry all booths are reserved from 5pm" I knew that was a lie as which restaurant has all their booths reserved at the same time. She asked if we didn't mind seating at the sushi bar. Normally this is where they seat people when it's packed, or when they want to hide you. My friend was cool about it so we did. Again, the restaurant was not particularly busy. Upon leaving at 5.20, just a few of the booth were occupied. So yeah, the hostess lied. I wished I got her name. 3- The food was ok to good. Not a single Japanese chef in view. I lived in NY and Honolulu, and I can tell you when a sushi is good. Our waitress was fantastic and very helpful though. 4- I wonder how I will get treated when I go in a casual business attire. My take is that it is a very snobby place. I had not been here in about a year and plan a dinner with my ladies group. They do you take reservations, which is really convenient. The parking lot is huge because it's shared with other stores at the summit. I love the inside decor. It really makes you feel like you're in Japan. Nancy was our server and she was amazing. I love a server who's attentive and can give you recommendations. I started off with the raspberry Mojito, which was her recommendation. It was so refreshing. My second drink was the sangria spritz that was very fruity and delicious. I ended up getting a salad with ginger dressing, which was yummy. We arrived here at five because the happy hour is until 6:30 PM. They're happy hours actually from 11 AM to 6:30 PM daily and then on Sunday it's all day happy hour. This does include sushi. The bar, however, still moves slowly. It would be beneficial to have more than one person working the bar in a restaurant that has extended happy hour times everyday. My Mom didn't receive her drink order until after we had several appetizers and were working on our second roll. I can say our waters remained refilled without having to flag down anyone. Friday lunch. I think this is a great addition to The Summit since Abhi has moved now. There's quite a few locations of Blue Sushi, so it's not mom-and-pop. It's a pretty extensive menu, even if you don't do raw fish or sushi there's certainly plenty of options. Service was quick, no complaints. They have a happy hour menu that runs for all of lunch, we ordered most everything from here. The brussels sprouts lacked a bit of flavor, but the calamari and accompanying dipping sauce were very good. We had several sushi rolls. I'm anti-cream cheese in sushi, and they were happy to accommodate that. I must say, I would probably choose this place over P.F. Changs, and I used to be a big fan. read more

I ordered some Toro and it was exactly what you want... soft, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. No complaints there. My only issue, and the reason this lands at 4 stars instead of 5... way too many of the rolls are drenched in spice. Spicy tuna, spicy salmon, sriracha everywhere, heavy jalapeño action. When everything is trying to melt your face off it starts to feel like the spice is covering up the flavors instead of letting the fish shine. I noticed this place does interesting flavor combinations with their sushi but the cilantro thing I wasn't a fan of. It's an herb that takes control of a dish and that's all you taste. I couldn't taste the seafood or anything else in it. All I tasted was cilantro. We were seated within 10 minutes and were happy to have quick and attentive service throughout dinner. I was highly unimpressed by the menu selection. I love sushi, especially raw sushi, and the menu was heavily populated with vegan sushi options. The one roll that I did select was unique enough but was lacking in flavor. This was my first time dining at Blue Sushi and I was pretty impressed! The inside is funky and well decorated. We made a reservation since I've heard it can have high wait times on weekends. What we ordered: Crispy Rice Cake: I had very high hopes for this appetizer but it unfortunately didn't live up to my expectations. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was just way too much rice. The ratio of rice to the tuna on top just didn't match. It's only 4 pieces and the majority of it is rice. Personally, it would be best if the rice was spread thinner and topped with a tad more tuna. Hotel Cali: my FAVORITE! This is a fried roll that's topped with a sweet and spicy chili sauce. It may not be traditional sushi but I do love a fired roll. Green Eggs And Hama: this roll was super tasty! It was my second favorite of what we ordered. Shiitake To Me: a vegan roll filled with shiitake mushrooms. If you love mushrooms, this one is for you. Overall, I think Blue Sushi has a great concept with such a unique execution. While I'm not vegan, I appreciate the large vegan selection on the menu. It is so laughable to me when so many people give a five star rating and claim it's so delicious. Perhaps they think this is real sushi but it's far from it. The sushi rice was wrong; no vinegar sake seasoning. The rolls and nigiri rice were badly packed to the consistency of wood and dry. The seafood portions were small and certainly not worth the cost. I've already been to Blue Sushi Sake Grill in the Summit a handful of times, and I have enjoyed it every time. Today, however, I was on a mission to try their vegetarian/vegan options that my vegetarian friend spoke highly of. We went at about 5:30 pm to try to catch their happy hour (which is always a steal--go then if you are going). They were PACKED--it was going to be an hour-and-a-half wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar, so we chose the bar. We were able to order pretty quickly once we sat down. Between my partner and I, we got a China Doll drink, one beer, the crispy Brussels sprouts, the Eden Roll, the Thai Hippie Roll, and the Lion King Roll (non-vegan). This was a LOT of food, but with the Happy Hour prices, it totaled to just under $50, which is insane for a nice restaurant and good food. I've attached photos of the menu, the cocktail, and the rolls--the pictures don't do them justice because the presentation was very pretty and appealing in real life. The staff was all very friendly, and the vibe inside the restaurant is so swanky and hip. There's a mix between traditional decorations and modern twists that blends well. The place was pretty loud because of how many people were there, but I could still hear those near me well. My main grievance was that it seemed a little understaffed for how busy they were-- by the time we were ready to pay, we waited maybe 10-15 minutes for our check. Again, no shade to the staff; they were all working hard. As for the food, it was fantastic. I've never intentionally picked a specialty vegan roll anywhere, so BSSG's options were a pleasant surprise. I highly recommend the items that we ordered. At times, some of the ingredients felt a little disproportionate in the roll, but it's not that deep (e.g., in the Eden Roll, sometimes there was a lot more salt in one bite than in the next). Went here on a friend date and the atmosphere is really cool! It is laid back but you're not out of place with heals and a nice dress. We came in athleisure and I did feel a little under dressed but think that i just don't get out much. anyways, let's start with the apps. Omg the lettuce wraps and the rangoons were incredible! It was a lot of food but didn't fill us up too much. The wraps were so flavorful and had several toppings that complemented the hibachi chicken. I love the sauce on the Brussels sprouts and the ceviche tasted very fresh. I also had miso soup, but I could do without that next time.
