May 31, 2015. No good story ever starts with, "I ordered a salad... ", But when it starts, "let's go shooting....", well that is a different plot. Take one rainy Saturday down the Jersey shore, and sprinkle in six friends on a girls weekend,and you will get a great memory to take away like an ornament on a Christmas tree. That's right, this is how we greeted RICK, all decked out in our matching pink shirts. I can only imagine his initial thought on the hoard of 50 year olds walking in the gun shop that day. His open mind to teach, inform, and educate us on proper gun handling and safety was not wasted. He took his time with each of us and the firearm of choice. He didn't stop there as he passed us off to fellow workers, DON and BETTY. They eased us into our shooting stalls, one with a 9 mm and one with a 22 caliber. Instructed our group to be each other's support system. IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! As much as the word shenanigans came up, we keep a professional demeanor in the range. We would never jeopardize anyone's safety or disrespect our teachers of the day. At the end of our time, Betty showed off the hatchet range with the delight. Full Metal Jacket is a great gun range. Took my 22-year-old granddaughter today for her 1st time shooting. I gave her some basic instruction and the safety rules. When we got their Betty came to our lane in the gun range and did an outstanding job of showing her how to shoot. She can't wait to come back and shoot and learn more. Nice small range. We set up an appointment for 12 and they quickly checked us in and let us do our thing. If it's your first time you have to watch a range safety video but it's not too long. We shot both rifle and pistol. Rifle must be shot at 25 yards only. This is a great little quiet spot. They gave us port 2 and 3 and there were like 6 or 7 total. Don't worry about the small size because they usually aren't busy but I'd book an appointment just in case. Staff is really nice too and they offer axe throwing!! Today was my first time going to a gun range and I can not think of a better place than this one. All the staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable being first timers. They stay with you at the lane until you are ready and go over safety and proper gun use. Walked in knowing nothing about the place & what a fantastic surprise. Both guys were extraordinarily helpful. They explained everything from my gun to range safety & etiquette. The staff was friendly and helpful, I can't remember the name of the man who taught us how to throw the axes but he really helped us get the hang of it!
