Ciaran is very patient, guiding me through this process , taking notes as to my ability, always giving positive feedback in my progress. His attitude and ability to train someone like myself (over the age of 60!) has improved my confidence in my ability to "get in shape" ! I've been sharing the experience with others I interact with as well...encouraging everyone, no matter what your current body shape is...there's hope here! No intimidation what so ever! The combined years of experience and level of expertise by the staff is unmatched by any other local gym. In fact many of the owners and trainers from the competing local gyms got their start at Forged when it was CrossfitNC. If you're serious about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, or Crossfit training this is the best to begin your journey. The environment is friendly, family oriented, and laidback. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner or have years of experience this gym will challenge you and instruct you at the level that's right for you. In the six years I've been a member I have personally seen many of my training partners make amazing transformations in body and mind. Because I don't have healthcare this year, I decided to get back into the gym to work on becoming strong again, to lower my blood pressure, and to help with my stress management. When I signed up for my gym membership, Coach Shaw's name was recommended, and I reached out to him to get started. It's been one of the best decisions I've made in recent years. Coach Shaw has gone above and beyond from the very beginning. He helped me establish my goals (which are more about function and health markers); set me up with a meal plan and a training regiment. not only that, but he requires weekly check-ins to go over sleep, water intake, general movement outside of the gym, digestion, supplements, etc. I wanted a trainer who would take a holistic approach, and Coach Shaw embodies that!! It's been a month and I'm feeling so much stronger, my blood pressure is down, my clothes are fitting better, I'm sleeping better. I've been able too prep all my meals and hit all my workouts. In the almost 6 months that we have worked together, I have lost inches where I wanted to and have gained so much strength and endurance. If you are willing to put in the work and listen to his suggestions Lamar will help you reach all of YOUR goals. That's actually one of the first things that impressed me about his training style- he takes the time to listen to what you'd like to accomplish and will use all of his knowledge to propel you forward. Before every session he will take a moment to check in and see how you are feeling that day and will adjust your training accordingly. Wow.. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this facility. After reading the 5 star reviews that had…read morehappened in the past, I figured it was great, however that was no longer the case. This facility looks great from the front (the storefront has 3 doors), making it look like a really big facility., however when you enter the facility, there is no one working at the front desk. The room to the side (on the right) is a padded room, where the pads do not even look like it meant to fit in that room) and is used for a Muay Thai class. you go through a set of doors behind the front desk and you are greeted by an unfinished looking gym where it is concrete and a loading dock door. It is very messy looking, and on the side is a small set of Mats where the jiu jitsu class was taking place. I don't remember the name of the instructor, however when i told him that my kids have had experience in the past, he brushed it off. When the class was over, my 2 daughters left saying they never wanted to go back because the instructor told one of the ladies on the side saying that there is no way that these girls have experience...in front of my girls (ages 10 and 13). that is very disrespectful. When they left, the instructor didn't even apologize for it. Just noted that when I tell someone that they are experienced in the future, that it should mean they know how to train properly. (on a side note), you can tell that this was not a real gym by the fact there was only 1 other child in the class (other than the instructors own kids). A little class, patience and respect goes a long way. This instructor definitely needs to understand that going forward if they plan on growing their business.

Highly recommend Phase II and especially, Michael Rudolph as a trainer!…read more Pros: - Very knowledgeable, helpful and personable trainers - Facility is adequately equipped - Good price - Customers often bring wonderful goodies (e.g., produce, plants) to share I worked with Michael Rudolph at Phase II (in Cary) for ~2 years to recover from my patellar tendonitis condition on both legs and for overall fitness improvement. The facility is equipped adequately. Michael is a wonderful person, very knowledgeable, sincere and takes very good care. Eventually, my wife joined too and had a wonderful experience. We used to hate going to the gym and working out but, Michael played a big role in changing our mindset, teaching us workout basics, injury prevention techniques, and making workouts very interesting. I recently moved out of the country and my wife and I miss Michael and Phase II sorely. Although, I have not completely recovered from my patellar tendonitis condition, Michael helped me make substantial progress on it, and also increase my overall body strength and fitness level. I've been going here from some time now, and it's been a very good experience. I mainly do…read moreweightlifting there, and since there's over 10 racks there, I've never had an issue finding a spot to lift. During the middle of the day, it's fairly empty, so there's maybe only 1-3 other people there during off-peak hours. Even in peak times, I see everyone working in with each other without any hassle. Desmond recently gave the place a really nice renovation with some new racks, so it's looking good there. Even before then, the gym's got all the equipment I need to get my workout done and then some. I always feel welcome here, and Desmond greets me by name anytime he sees me come in. If you just want to lift and don't need classes/training, the $20/mo is absolutely a great deal.

It doesn't feel like a traditional gym, more like a place where you can truly train. The instructors are great as is the owner Nate. They are great at what they do and knowledgeable. They work you hard and push you to grow and get better. Their cyclical method works for me as a workout and to keep my interest. I enjoy they have a balance of boxing, boxing/lifting classes and classes that are solely strength training. The variety is great and geared to getting results. Further they prioritize safety in movement. They are hosting a free shoulder workshop and having expect guests come in to present on shoulder maintenance during workouts. The people that attend are very supportive and a great group of people!
