At first glance, this looks like a small version of Urban Outfitters. Once inside, however, it has it's own unique personality. The employees are helpful but not in your face. They carry trendy, alternative, hipster type clothing for women and a small selection for men as well. Shoes, accessories including sunglasses, vintage toys, t-shirts, an 'iron-on' station, incense, and more. Jared got suckered in to playing a few games of Ms. Pacman. I noticed they had Donkey Kong also. My favorite item in the store: a photo booth! This is a cute store full of nick nacks, but it's WAYYYY overpriced. It was better when it had more unique little gifts, now it has been overtaken by trendy, hipster clothing (which is soooo expensive). Funk & Standard had a complete mid-life crisis and decided to close and combine with Yummy Yummy Juice Bar. They relocated to 6 Broad Street (the building that has a downstairs shop location). Bad news for people who love incense and Jesus Loves Bacon car fresheners, great news for people who love juices and good vegan food stuffs! I stopped by Yummy Good both days this weekend during a class I was taking and I cannot recommend enough. The Yummy Sweet Green was phoenomenal, and they have a tiny but high quality vegan menu: mini salad bar, fresh soups (Pasta Fagioli is incredible) and I had the chickpea burger for lunch - delicious! The woman working said they get their bread from a baker in Staten Island - sandwich was good, good good. They also carry Papa Ganache cupcakes & cookies and pastries from Cinnamon Snail. The space is quaint but spacious and well lit, and there's a cute outside deck. I was super impressed. I wish I lived next door! ( my only minor complaint was today they had one person working, which is not enough for a place with a juice bar and food menu. They really need a person for each thing!) Very trendy, I can just see the hipsters posing for instragam photos while eating their vegan cupcakes. They have some cute clothes, gifts and books, but SOOO OVERPRICED! I spotted a few random *used* books in the back that would have made killer christmas presents, expecting them to be like three bucks (you know, like any used book store?) nope, $20! i thought f&s was the epitome of cool when i was 16 years old. and i do think they sorta slouched a bit when it came to stocking clothes.......i feel like they used to have a lot more wearables that got pushed out by their shelves upon shelves of jesus air fresheners, magic eightballs and bendable nuns. also, the paul frank implosion is so late 90s. they had a smattering of hideous rubber rain boots (though my 16 year old self mighta liked them) and also a clatch of hidz free people sweaters (what HAPPENED to that label?). the girls working the counter were around my age and a bit too cool for school. i was like, hey ladies, you're working in an overpriced, yuppiefied spencer's gifts. get over it. read more

If you find yourself in Red Bank, don't forget to stop in for an hour or so...lots of brain candy and silly bric a brac to ponder. An upscale joke shop that handles unique well. For example, where else can you pick up a pose-able Elvis (think Gumby, only the King). Anyway, you'll have to drive to Hyattsville, MD for Franklin's General Store and Restaurant for anything close. As one of the reviewers mentioned, I too thought this was the coolest damn place when I was 16. However, everything is overpriced. I sometimes come in here and run to the $10, $15, and $20 rack to see if there's anything good. They also have pretty good/cheap incense (I think - 10 sticks for $1). It's like a condensed Urban Outfitters. Similar clothes (though I feel slightly better quality), lots of ironic novelties, records, jewelery. They sell cupcakes to eat, the most hipstery of foods. Everything is dramatically overpriced. I like cute t shirts, and they have many, but I have never seen one cheaper than $25. The rest of their store is highly overpriced. I think the clothing is more well made than Urban Outfitters, but it's still not nice enough to justify the price. They burn really strong incense in the store, which I'm not a fan of. I'm very sensitive to that kind of smell, and I always wonder if it's covering up something, like mildew smell or something. Some fun stuff, if that's your style, but seems like a waste of money. read more
