Man, what a cool store! This was one of things we absolutely had to do while in Des Moines. The store has two levels and both have a lot of really fun vintage stuff to look at. There is everything from trinkets, clothes, dishware, magnets, and everything else you can think of. They even had free wine on the day we went, what a treat! We really enjoyed walking around this store and ended up getting a set of Korean made coasters! We did use the vintage vending machine for a mystery prize too. Overall, this is such a fun store to walk around and look at things. The prices were pretty reasonably for pretty much everything too. All of the staff were super friendly as well! read more

After returning from Iowa, I'm more passionate about writing my reviews for consignment stores than I am for the restaurants I ate at..... now that's something new lol. Consignment stores aren't normally "my jam". In South Florida they are mostly cluttered and dirty and I don't have the patience to dig through them. Until now... On a recent trip to Iowa to help my brother get his new apartment sorted and we had some time to kill. He mentioned going to another consignment store and finding some good things, so yelp searched the area and found this place popped up just 2 blocks away. TL;DR - this store is awesome!! It's much bigger than expected. It has some very unique finds. It's quite affordable. It does have a bit of a 70's era theme, but there are pieces to fit everyone. I wish I could come here every weekend!! read more

What a fun store. Everything that you could ever want that might have been a staple in your grandmas / parents house ( 70 era ) is in this store. They have a lot of hidden treasures that await you. If i had the room I would have taken multiple things home. I loved the giant lounge sofa that had built in side tables. I wish i would have discovered this place sooner. I love vintage stores! I have always dreamed of filling an entire house with funky 60's and 70's modern style furniture! Well if I ever jump at that dream, Funky Finds is a great place to start in Des Moines! They have lots of furniture in great condition, clothes, old juke boxes, art, and nick/nacks from years past! I bought a Mattise framed print here for only 25 bucks. I love how the store is set up, they have multiple rooms with different themes and it's set up almost like IKEA would be, they build the room for you, so you get an idea how the furniture could fit into your world! The owners are super nice and and are always getting new stuff/old stuff in! They also buy things, so if you have a treasure you are looking to part with, bring in or email them some photos and they will give you and honest and fair price for your items! I discovered Funky Finds when I was looking for a new dresser. I was all set to drive to Minneapolis and pick one up from Ikea when I decided to check Craigslist one last time. There I found a gorgeous mid-century, solid walnut dresser for only slightly more than I was going to pay Ikea (gas money). It works great for me everyday and is much better made than anything I would have found. Each time I use it I'm so glad I didn't end up making the trip north. Well worth a trip. read more

Funky Finds was a fun find for a quick treasure hunt. This vintage store is staged very nicely with so much to see but is not overwhelming at all like some places can be. I found out about this place because Yelp did a thrift finds on the local Yelp activities feed. I really glad I came down here it's going to save me some yard sale time. Funky Finds has a whole slough of things you'd find in your Mom or Grandma's house as a kid or make you feel like you're on the set of Madmen. Got a man cave with no groove? They can make it a place you want to hang and have cocktails with friends. I wanted almost everything in here and my man cave has lots of groove! I did purchase a personal traveling bar and ice bucket; can you say Uber. The coolest thing is it's all affordable, unlike most niche thrift shops. read more

I love Funky Finds! My roommate had never been so we decided to check it out this weekend. Last year I found a great vintage coat here so I wanted to see if I could find another I liked! They had a lot of great selections, which are all very reasonably priced, but nothing that really caught my eye this time. They have the cutest selection of kitschy Christmas decorations, and everyday decorations for your home. Downstairs you can browse through rooms that take you to a different era! There is so much rad stuff! Couches, chairs, tables, bars, desks, cameras, pictures, glassware, etc. I love the kitchen room, I was very tempted to pick up a few of the cute aprons they have! My favorites are the different salt and pepper shakers-so many cool ones. I also really like that that have some really great albums, most priced at 5.00 but all in really good condition. If your into decorating, like the styles from the 50s, 60s & 70s, I highly recommend checking out Funky Finds. They are even currently in the process of expanding! I moved to Des Moines recently from Chicago and FFVR is one of the hidden gems in this city. Susie and Ray stock some of the best quality mid-century wares and furniture I have ever seen. At street level it looks a little small, but the basement is full of treasures. I furnished most of my downtown apartment at Funky Finds and could not be happier. The prices cannot be beat for what they carry and they also offer delivery for a very reasonable cost. I check back in almost weekly because they receive new items all the time that quickly go back out the door. read more

This store is located in an easy place to get to - you just park and walk into the homey, cozy store, and you feel transported back in time. But what I liked best about purchasing chairs from this store were the owners. They will let you bend their ear forever talking about what you are looking for, and they will do everything to accommodate you. Suzy is the best shopowner I've met, with her sunny disposition. All I can say is whenever I walk in here I am in big TROUBLE. Why? It seems I find tons of things to lust after as I make my way around both floors of great and groovy finds. The hardest part is understanding how I lose a couple hours of my life every time I walk in the door. Not sure if it is due to all the funky treasures there are to peep at or if it is the GROOVY crew that runs the joint. They are an amazing crew that I have had the honor to deal with. I have popped into other shops but the vibe in here is great- the selection is killer - and the prices are more that fair. They seem to have all the bases covered- big statement pieces, furniture, dishware, killer barware, and all kinds of fun stuff from the era. We discovered Funky Finds while on a mission in search of requested items for a photo shoot. My daughter needed to find an eclectic mix of things; long gloves, slips, an old telephone, martini shaker for a 50's "glam' look. The task seemed daunting until we walked in the door of this charming shop. It is a bright, clean, and happy spot, and I was transported back to my childhood. I enjoyed pointing out various objects to my daughter that brought back wonderful memories. We had been looking online for the old phone, and discovered prices as high as $60. Not only did we find the phone (for $16 and better yet, locally) we found every other item we were searching for with the help of the owner who was as pleasant as her place of business. We spend a lot of time in Manhattan and love to frequent vintage stores. Funky Finds was hands down the most adorable vintage store I have ever been in. I highly recommend a visit.
