After I called they did post one that included my pups but I had been told that there would be one a day and the video had only a single clip of them. My dogs come from a shelter and I needed to know that they were getting out to play with other dogs and people and not just being cooped up in their 'condo'. When I picked them up they gave me a report on how they did in the pool and during playtime with a picture on each and they had been given a free bath so they smelled great. I understand that videos are a pain to post but that was my big hang up. I was upset when I arrived because I didn't even know for sure whether or not they had been given bedding. I was never shown where they were actually going to stay after it was set up and the other dogs I saw during the tour either had their own bedding or did not have much. I would take my dogs here again only on the contingency that videos would actually be posted and I had verification that they were given bedding. Otherwise, I would have absolutely brought bedding rather than just two measly blankets if I knew that might be the case. My dogs are so precious to me and I just needed a little bit more reassurance without feeling like there was some dishonesty happening. A place like The Barking Dog is difficult to maintain and dog hair is a pain to clean. I am very grateful for all the work the staff does and the time they take to ensure they get exercise and socialization. Thank you for taking care of Emmie and Myson. I hope that if there is a next time things can be a little more cut and dry.

I recently moved to Maine and contacted Kara's Petcare on the recommendation of my vet. I was so…read moreexcited because it seemed like they would be able to offer daycare for my dogs and some auxiliary training if needed. They also said they did transport to the daycare facility and boarding on occasion. It seemed perfect. I should mention that there are Kara's pet care facilities in Portsmouth, Berwick, and Falmouth. First I was asked to set up a meet and greet with one of their associates at my home so she could meet my pets. It took me many tries to get through many unreturned phone calls, but finally we did set up the meet and greet and that went well. Then I was asked to set up an app and an account before we could actually schedule any dog care. So I set up the app and the account. Then I was asked to drive my dogs to their facility to see if the dogs would "be happy there." So I drove my dogs 25 minutes to the facility. When I got to the facility I was told that they were supposed to stay there for a day assessment and then I should come and pick them up. This was not communicated to me earlier, and I had not budgeted an extra hour of driving back-and-forth. Then they would reschedule the assessment and they would come and pick up my dogs for the day-long assessment. All before any dog care could be scheduled. So, still not on the calendar. So to summarize: you need to go through a long process of scheduling a meet and greet, then you need to have the meet and greet, then you need to sign up for the app, then your dogs have to be assessed to see if they will be happy. I'm just thinking that anyone who's busy enough to need dog care is too busy for this multilayered, multi-step, poorly communicated process where phone calls, texts, and emails are returned only about half the time.

I can't imagine how we would have managed juggling our cat and our travel schedule all these years without her. Our guy, Tank, has spent many nights happily ensconced at The Cat's Pajamas where he enjoys spying on the comings and goings from the privacy of his own condo. Yes, we could leave him at home with a cat sitter popping by once or twice daily, but our dude is very social and gets lonely easily. Plus, he is a bit high-maintenance and Patty doesn't bat an eye at his extreme neediness. (LOL) Bottom line: Patty is a total pro. She is caring, considerate, and communicative. She keeps a close eye on her charges and intuits exactly what they need. I just can't say enough good things about her. If you want the best place possible to board your beloved cat, look no further.

Not only is it a very clean and calm environment, it is so clear that Patty cares for each cat and their needs. Their "condos" have levels for them to explore, each with their own box, and privacy curtains for cats who need more time to adjust to the space. Patty sends an email the day after drop off and throughout their stay to let you know how your cat is adjusting and eating. We all know how hard it can be to have to leave your cat and take them out of the comfort of their home. Knowing how well cared for they are with Patty makes doing so much easier.
