Warning: Shady Billing Practices…read more I started my fitness journey at CKO and want to give credit where it's due -- the trainers are phenomenal especially Alex, Ralph, and Jorge, which two trainers that no longer are employed there, and really care about your progress. However, the owner is a completely different story. He portrayed himself as a trainer, but he's nothing but a business owner if even that! He has no background in any kind of kickboxing or combat training. My wife and I canceled our memberships in August 2025. We received both email confirmations and a personal message saying the cancellations were processed. Two months later, I get hit with a debt collection notice, claiming I still owe money. After doing some digging, I found out we're not the only ones -- this has allegedly happened to 15-20+ other people. This place might help you lose weight, but it could also cost you a lot more than you signed up for. Stay away!

I've had a very disappointing experience with CKO League City. The owner does not honor…read morecancellation requests or follow the terms of the contract when trying to end a membership early. When I reached out to get answers, instead of resolving the issue professionally, the owner became rude and insulting toward members who simply want clarification or fairness. Communication and customer service are severely lacking. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a membership read the contract carefully and be aware of how cancellations and member concerns are handled.

I've been going to his gym and getting personal training services for a little over 13 months…read more Punchline is that I am extremely happy with the facilities, staff and results. I'm an ex-soccer player and relatively fit when I showed up. My training regimen and meal plan has been tailored to my short and long term objectives. At times I've wanted to add muscle and at other times I've wanted to lean out. In all cases I've received purposeful and highly technical, form-focused instruction that have produced the exact results I've been seeking. My overall energy level, health and strength have all improved, as well as my sleep. Working out with Joe, I've done full-body HIIT training, focused-area (shoulders, arms, chest, abs) training and some moderate cardio (during lean out periods). Joe understands both the chemistry of nutrition and the physiology around body movement and muscle isolation - all to drive the right outcomes. His training sessions are a great value; as most know, it is hard to find his level of commitment and consistency in the ego-ridden personal trainer industry. You won't find that with any of the trainers at V12 - it's a positive, client-focused culture. Most importantly (for me) is the variety of exercises / lifting - I've never done the same sequence twice and am constantly engaged, encouraged and celebrated by a professional that started as my trainer and has since become a friend.

Her safety away at college pushed us to sign up, and what a difference it has made for all of us in different ways! John and his team will help strengthen skills like problem solving under pressure, being aware, being authoritative, identifying and evaluating threats, protecting and defending yourself and others, and so much more! I had not trained in martial arts or any fighting system, so I came in as a total novice. Several years ago, I took a 90-minute women's self-defense class at another facility. Coming here, I realized self-defense is a lot more extensive than I thought (i.e. defending from a knife from the front versus behind, defending a side choke hold versus a straight punch, performing a gun disarm from the chest versus from the back, etc). This system teaches self-defense in dozens of different situations, so you feel empowered to handle different circumstances--including single and multiple attackers. This isn't a one-and-done type of training; you will learn so much, and the more you come, the more it will become second nature so you can learn to handle dynamic situations efficiently and safely. John and his team made me and my family feel very welcome from the start, and we quickly felt like family at the facility. The team is very generous with their time and patience to ensure students are absorbing the training by adjusting instruction in terms you can relate to. John constantly asks for feedback--further showing how much they genuinely care. His other instructors (like Sam, the Muay Thai Boxer and Jempy) attend other classes outside of their own, so they share their expertise across classes. You go at your own pace, so you go to as many or as few classes as you want. There are plenty of classes to choose from! It is also great how the fitness classes are complementary to the type of self-defense and combat training being taught at the facility. Shout out to Tyrone (boxing instructor) for his awesome Combat Fitness class! Lastly, we have been impressed with how many students have been training with John and his team for 5+ years, plus how many families attend. That speaks volumes! On top of that, other students who have been there a while are very nice to help and encourage newcomers like me. It is a strong family atmosphere. Try them out!
