I purchased 2 furniture pieces from the company Jan 4th and then had zero contact from them after receiving the invoice plus additional shipping invoice and paying both in full immediately. I reached out multiple times asking for an update after about a month without response. When I called the store on 2 occasions I was given conflicting information on delivery of the dining table. In my first call around Feb 4th I was told it had shipped. When I called a week later to ask for an update so that I could know when to expect it, I was told it would arrive a few days after shipping. When I prompted that a few days had already passed, I was then told that it would take a few weeks. In this same call when I asked for a refund for the out of stock and discontinued coffee table, I was told to pick a different item. When I asked again for a refund as I didn't want another item, I was hung up on. When I then emailed stating my intention to contact BBB, they sent an email confirming I would get my refund, then ceased communication again (and did not issue the refund). When I escalated the issue to PayPal, the seller then said we had been in communication about me choosing an alternate item for the coffee table, which was a blatant lie. I had asked for a refund multiple times at this point. Regarding the dining table, when PayPal became involved the seller now said it was "on order" and would arrive to their store mid March and would then ship to me. However PayPal investigated and determined the company provided a fraudulent tracking number and therefore refunded my full order. I think it's important to note that while the company I purchased from positioned themselves as "Sterling House", in course of PayPal's investigation the seller provided their email to PayPal as a Furniture Depot email contact. I specifically had not purchased from Furniture Depot due to the concerning online reviews, however it appears that they are the same company, and engage in fraudulent and deceptive business practices. read more

One of the pieces was significantly damaged and missing hardware when it finally was delivered . I was not satisfied with the piece in any way and wanted to return it at via my own cost . Our problems: - they sold the furniture that was not in stock - we were pretty much stuck with the only option of selecting different colour that we did not originally wanted - delivery date was missed more than once - weeks of delays to deliver - delivered colour does not match the web site color (not even close) - the most uncomfortable furniture that we ever sat on. NEVER AGAIN! They took advantage of my father who is a senior and was hospitalized at the time after a serious accident. Cancelled an order with them within the time indicated to receive a refund, was charged a $500 restocking fee and it took a full year to get refunded the rest. Disorganization, empty promises, months late arrivals of furniture, dozens of unreturned phone calls, unupdated system leading to purchases of nonexistent merchandise, and outward deception. I ordered furniture August of last year, and I am still waiting on some items they promised would arrive 5 weeks after purchase (some said to arrive by February but I am not so sure anymore). I called and they said they needed to contact their supplier, and also promised a phone call back (they never call back btw just letting you know). I purchased an item that is still on their site, and they told me they don't make that item anymore after giving me different arrival dates 3-4 times. I also ordered dining chairs, if you look at the photo provided it shows two chairs that are clearly two different hues; to my surprise the one on the left arrived in the same color as the one on the right. I made the purchase after asking if the color would be the same as shown as well, which for some odd reason they were more than confident to let me know it would; a blatant lie and a waste of time. I made the request to return chair, but they adamantly refused even after I patiently waited for my furniture that was late for months forcing us to make do without furniture in our house dining and living room. The manager there claimed that my request to return because they were a different color was because 'they are clearly the same color hue' which you can make that decision for yourself below, and that my claim they were different hues 'wouldn't even stand up in court'. I will leave that latter statement to the imagination of the reader what that is suggesting on behalf of the establishment. Point is, don't listen to these folks, they are deceptive and dishonest with themselves as much as they are with their customers, and will cause you a headache in the process of trying to furnish your home. Did I mention they lied about having an item arrive in store, but told me I cannot pick it up that day for some weird reason and they will send it, only for me to call back weeks later and be told it didn't even make it into the country. I want to say that I have read the reviews here and do not think they are warranted. I had some hiccups with my online order - was originally shipped the wrong item, but they promptly addressed the issue and got me out a different sofa. Not the one I originally ordered, as it was out of stock. I ultimately returned this item as it was just not suitable. Again, they were very accommodating and willing to work with me. I actually took a trip in to the Brampton store to try out sofas and ended up ordering a more expensive but far better quality sectional. Delivery was delayed on it but that was out of their hands due to supplier delays. Overall, I give Furniture Depot props for being communicative, helpful and friendly. Again, I am very surprised by all the one star reviews. This is by far the worst place to buy furniture from. I ordered a king bedroom set for my elderly mom in June. Almost end of September and still not in. Have asked for a cancellation several times and they insist on charging 35% even though pieces aren't in. The staff are not helpful and the manager is INCREDIBLY rude. No shame that they have a disabled elderly woman sleeping on the floor. Manager even said it's not her responsibility to feel bad for the customers. When she doesn't get the customer to agree, she raises her voice and then gets rude and then hangs up. DO NOT SHOP HERE if you value your money. This company is the worst I have ever experienced. We wanted to buy from a Canadian Company. We researched extensively for a couch to work in our newly renovated basement. We ordered a right-facing chaise sectional. Excited and eager we took it down to the basement. Once starting to set it up, we shockingly realized that it was sadly the left chaise. Calling the company, the drivers came back to our house @ 11:00 PM and disturbed our entire neighbourhood when slamming the truck and back of the truck doors. They then came in and ruined our new walls. Now the company is saying they will not give us a refund, won't pay for damages and the only way they will refund us if we get the couch out of our basement... even though it was THEIR drivers who tried and said they couldn't get it out without causing extensive damage... They came back saying they would waive the $50.00 delivery fee of the new couch.... THATS IT. How about pay for the damages of our home, give us a refund OR offer something better to keep peoples business. This is a completely TERRIBLE company with horrible customer service. Owner very respectable, but his only problem was hiring the rudest secretary in history. She is absolutely distespectful and doesnt realize it is the customers' money that pays her wage, and when she runs her mouth at customers the business will lose a lot! The delivery guys damaged the wall in my hallway and when I contacted Cathy who is the customer service manage she advised me that the are not responsible for any damages. I also paid for set-up and the handles on the night stand was not done. This is the worst service that I have ever had. I will not encourage anyone to buy from them. This is the letter that was sent by Furniture Depot to me. Good morning, I checked the date on when you receive your delivery. The delivery date was on March 29, 2019. I do wish I could be of more assistance, but it is the stores policy all damage be reported within 24 hours. Even then on the back of the "Terms and Conditions", it states that Furniture Depot is not responsible for any damage that occurs during delivery on private property. Let me start by saying; please take the negative reviews lightly. When warehouses shut down, manufactures shut down, store fronts shut down...but online shopping stays open, you're going to have excessive wait times. This is NOT the fault of anyone involved. I would give a minus rating if I could. I regret ordering a sectional couch from this company online. Next week it will be 2 months we have been waiting. My wife and I had no issues waiting, it's what came up during the delivery process that showed the character of this company and the management. Throughout the waiting process there were no phone calls, not even to let us know it had arrived to set up a delivery date. I called June 8th and had booked delivery for June 12th. On June 11th I received a call to confirm deliver on June 12th between 2-6 p.m. On June 12th I left work 2 hours early so I could be home for the delivery and missed out on $70 pay. Based on the delivery information, my wife and I sold our old couch on June 11th so we had the room for the new one. On June 12th, I waited from 2-6 until my wife and I called to see when we can expect delivery. We were informed there was a mistake and they had booked our delivery for June 13th. I live in Bowmanville and they only deliver out this way at certain times and was informed they couldn't deliver the couch until June 17th. My 4.5 month pregnant wife and I have been sitting on the floor for the past 5 days as it is on our main floor and have a smaller home. I called and talked to the manager Joe and explained everything and he informed me he would call me back and see what he can do as compensation. I did get a notification of a refund for the delivery which was $56. What about the hardship on my pregnant wife? What about my lost wages? For the last 3 days I haven't received any call from Joe and have called 3 times to speak to him. They ask for your name before they transfer you, so one time he was with someone, the other was he was in a meeting, and the other he wasn't in. Clearly dodging my calls. I am sitting on my deck at the time of writing this and waiting for my couch still. I would have cancelled in a heartbeat if my pregnant wife didn't have to sit on the floor, but we are stuck at this point. I won't stop calling until I speak to him about further compensation. If I update my review, then maybe customers matter, but if no update, be weary of this place as they don't give any care towards there customers. read more

Originally purchased a sofa with warranty about three years ago. Sofa got damaged and the warranty covered a replacement sofa. This whole process was started in January 2020 and was FINALLY delivered Saturday September 12 at 10:30PM, yes, on a Saturday! The entire staff are useless...shout out to the most useless ones, Cathy and the manager Joe Gill who avoids dealing with any customer issues with the customers. They never ever return phone calls, are disorganized, rude and not helpful at all. Delivery was constantly changed and had to keep chasing these people for any answers. They have the worse customer service! I ordered a mattress and they asked me to wait as it took so long for the delivery due to Covid19. I understood and agreed to wait only to receive the wrong size of mattress. They asked me to wait again for the replacement and assured me of a delivery time. I waited again. Then I found out they do not actually have the mattress in stock and is still on order. They do not care about their customers the moment they receive your payment. I did all the follow ups and NEVER received an update from them. I just requested for a refund before they even deliver the replacement mattress but they refused. So I asked help from Better Business Bureau but the issue was not resolved as they insisted on delivering the mattress once it is available. I decided to escalate this issue to the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services as they violated the Consumer Protection Act. I am still waiting for their reply. If they will not issue me a refund, I will have to file a formal complaint with the Ministry. The only mistake I made is that I did not read reviews before purchasing and immediately trusted this store. read more

There's no point buying from here with the amount of furniture stores in Brampton. Yes, they can order your product from the manufacturer and probably save you a small amount of money which is definitely enticing and great. The issue here is that Furniture Depot will order the wrong product... There's only so many checks you can do as a customer. When buying a whole bedroom set for example, there can be many product numbers on an order form and that's where Furniture Depot starts to even confuse themselves. You'll only know that they've ordered the wrong product after it's been delivered (around 4-10 weeks later). I'm glad that they're willing to resolve (as they HAVE to) the matter, but that doesn't help the consumer as the consumer would have to wait another batch of time for the product to arrive (and hopefully correct this time.) When ordering furniture, the last thing someone would want to do is deal with an incorrect product, time/cycles to correction, and then holding on to the incorrect furniture in his/her own house. The delivery people though are very pleasant and professional. This part of the transaction was satisfactory and worth the money. Buyer beware and expect a risky experience. read more

If i could give 0 stars I would. I would never ever buy from this place. I ordered a simple tv stand two months ago. I called the very day I placed the order, spoke to the manager and was told it should arrive within two weeks. Two weeks came and went, I never heard from them so I called and was told the shipment hadn't arrived as yet, but should be here within another two weeks.... okay..... I called two weeks later as I still did not hear from them and was told "oh, the manufacturer did not have the item in stock so they have ordered it and should be here in two weeks. Really?!!! So I wait another two weeks and call since I have not heard back from them by this point and probably should've cancelled the order. I was told the next shipment from that manufacturer would be the end of the month. This is really ridiculous now as it would be two months i would have waited for this stand by now but I really like the tv stand and wanted it so i thought i could wait it out. End of the month came, and went.... and you guessed it..... no call. I ended up going to the store and demanding my money back. I was told at the store it still had not come in and they don't know when it would. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!! Their customer service is very poor, because i kept being strung along for weeks at a time and should've been told the product was not available and would take longer to come in. At the store I was also asked if I wanted to look at their other tv stands. Really?! ... Yes, I want to give this company my money after they couldn't be bothered to be straight with me from the beginning and letting me know they wouldn't be able to deliver.
