The folks at furniture medic really did a great job. They repaired some pretty bad water damage to veneer on an antique heirloom table and did a lot to mend it and protect it for the future. This company wasted my time and my money by failing to remain in contact, pushing off their services, and continuing to increase the price after "misbidding" it. For a simple project, this took over 5 months in processing and multiple phone calls where they couldn't recall my previous contact. Owning a moving and delivery company I have a need once or twice a year to repair a piece of furniture. In the past I had used a few different shops but all fell short in some part of the project. Once you have damage on a job there are three priorities; Get the best result possible, get the job done as soon as possible and the price matters but this type of service cost money. I had dropped off two wood pieces that needed to be duplicated and stained the same at another shop and after two weeks all that shop did is raise the price 3 times, they never started the job and if I didn't get it out of there and to Furniture Medic they would have wanted more money. I made one call to these fine folks, dropped the pieces off a few hours later and got a call later that day with a price that was half of the other shop. I needed to have an end table refinished recently and I found this shop while searching online. Their customer service is good and the repair was finished within a reasonable amount of time, on schedule, and at a fair price. My end table came back looking even nicer than when I purchased it. My husband took a 3 piece set of furniture in to get repaired and resrained as close to the original as possible, a 3 peice vanity. The wood was in good shape (except the bench top), but the original glue had failed from a move, and it needed to be put back together. It was also quite a bit dusty from being in the garage. Well, that's the only part they sorta kinda did ok at. The top fell off at the location during pickup they just screwed it back on and said its good. Why wasn't it good before pickup? You can see cracks between the wood pieces where they reglued them together. There is wood filler that they didn't even try to blend in! The stain is what I'm most upset about! They tried to claim there were splatters all over one side, but I have pictures from the day it was dropped off, and that was intact false! They were just trying to cover for something they messed up. They stained over moving stickers, so I know they didn't prep for staining at all!!! There are fingerprints in the fresh stain! There are stain drips from too much product being applied at once! The three pieces dont match in color. They are close but not matching as they should have been for the price paid! This vanity set hadnt been redone in anyway exept for what they had done to it, it was completely the original pieces We tried contacting them via email as we had been doing the entire time they had the 3 piece vanity, and we have yet to get a response after several emails!!!! If it's a piece you care about, which I do as my late grandfather gave me this set that he had purchased new in the 60s, then please DO NOT trust these people to restore anything!!!! These people are far from professional!!! I will attach before and after photos if I can. read more

FURNITURE MEDIC BY DB did an EXCELLENT job on crafting cabinet doors to match a badly damaged bathroom vanity for me. The stain matches the old color perfectly and the vanity looks brand new! I was convinced that I would have to purchase a new vanity and reinstall the granite top ( quite expensive). I had a dog that damaged the vanity with his paws and it looked awful. I could not find a vanity that matched the other cabinets as it was discontinued . As I am renting my home when my lease is up I want the home to be in perfect condition. Furniture Medic saved the existing vanity and saved me money! The owner and installers are professional and performed an outstanding job! I would highly recommend them !!! read more

Maternal Grandmother's carved oak table that is about 100 years old was missing the extension leaves. Ordered 3 red oak leaves blanks from a catalog. Needed the pins and holes drilled. I was willing to refinish the leaves even if the edges did not match the table. Don came out and priced the work and included routing to match the original edge, staining and doing a finish on the three leaves. When we went to pick it up, the stain, finish, and routing matched the table perfectly. The price was was 1/3 or what some well advertised companies quoted. Work was completed as promised. Would highly recommend Furniture Medic by DB. It is easy to find once you have their driving directions. Our GPS got us lost. read more

I had them refinish a few pieces. That's about all they do...Is refinish! Don't count on detail work. Something not square, not straight or warped. It's not like I was asking them to rebuild the pieces. Don't mind spending the extra, in order to have it done the way I had wanted. Too costly for the end product. DON'T MISS THE END! THIS AFTER NEARLY $6000.00 In June of 2011 we signed a contract with Don Soncrant of FURNITURE MEDIC BY DB, and he took approximately 21 pieces of furniture, mostly pieces from the 1930's and 40's to refinish. These had been damaged in a flood in February. Besides the insurance repairs we paid extra to have some table tops done that were not affected by the flood. When the furniture returned it was covered with animal hair and dust. These pieces included 5 fabric covered chairs, 3 of which are needlepoint done by my husband's mother and aunt in the 30's. The quilts used to cover them were...filthy. I inspected the furniture, and the table tops were pretty, but I soon discovered that the finish on those and the 8 lyre back dining chairs could be scratched off with a slight scrape of a fingernail. The original finish, though very old, never scratched like that. An antique oak table that I had finished with stain and oil in the 1970's had the grain raised from the flood, and 2 rings from items sitting on it at that time. But it still liiked good. I asked to have it redone as I had done it, and the rings removed. Don sanded it, and did not remove the rings or re-stain and oil it as I requested. IT JUST LOOKS FADED. In a set of (antique) stacking tables, the smallest has inset wood on the front, a section that did not need to be touched, and it was smeared by stripper, and not refinished, legs of most pieces had lacquer runs, lacquer sat in seams and looked old and cracked, stain was applied unevenly. A like new upholstered leather chair was gouged in the back, legs on two upholstered fabric chairs needed to be redone. One small table looked pretty on the top, but when I laid it top down on a soft sofa to enspect the legs and picked it back up, a small piece of veneer fell off of one corner. It had been bumped in transit, I guessed. We asked Don to put new veneer around the bottom of the sideboard that DID match the mahogany Duncan-Fife dining table and lyre back chairs. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL PIECE! Instead of doing veneer his shop puttied it, with stain over the top. Every piece FURNITURE MEDIC took had problems with the finish. It was obvious that whoever worked on it did not know the business, and I could not imagine anyone letting such poor work leave their shop. Even the girl who worked there told me she noticed a piece and told them it wasn't right. OH, I WAS TOLD THAT MAY BE WHY SHE DOESN'T WORK THER ANYMORE! In October 2011, I got Don Soncrant to come look at the furniture. He said he didn't know why this happened (HELLO, HE IS THE OWNER), and that he would re-do all of it. I told him it would be all right for him to do it at his convenience. When I called early this year (2012) to ask if he could do some of the furniture while we would be moved out of the house for repairs in February, I was told, in a not-so-friendly-manner, that if I wanted Don to re-do the furniture, I must tell him VERY PRECISELY what I wanted him to do. SO, I inspected the pieces again, marked them with little paper tabs and wrote exactly what was wrong and needed to be re-done. ALSO, I suggested that if the helpers did not know how to finish furniture, maybe Don should do it. February 2 FURNITURE MEDIC picked up the 8 dining chairs. After we were back in the house in May or June I called to ask whe I could get my chairs back. After several attempts to contact FURNITURE MEDIC (noone returned my alls) and ( they must have caller I.D.) someone finally answered the phone and responded to my request to have Don call me. He said that since I did not want his "qualified technicians" to do the work, that he would have to do it himself, and that he had 3 or 4 hours left on each chair, and only one hour a week to work on them at all. THAT ADDED UP TO 24 TO 36 WEEKS! I told Don I needed them by July because we were having company. The chairs were delivered in time for my company. One of the men said; "It WAS a 'rush job' for Don". The dining chairs are no longer the color of the mahogany table. SOME of the OLD stain remains, but only streaks. Lots of other colors are on the chairs. One arm chair has, apparently, been turned upside down ON A HARD SURFACE in order for the glides to be hammered into the "feet", because something has scraped the new finish off of the "shoulders" of the chair. Shortly after it arrived, some chips fell out of the arm, probably from the same trauma. OH, and one leg is noticeably longer than the others... so the chair rocks. It was glued together crooked. I am almost done... i made an appointment with Don for September 12. ON SEPTEMBER 7 I GOT A LETTER FROM DON SAYING HIS OBLIGATION TO ME WAS FULFILLED.... TO CALL HIS LAWYER! read more

Shoddy workmanship - don't stand behind their work. Moved to Tucson from Illinois, our 2 year old guest bed frame was damaged in route. The moving company contracted with Furniture Medic to repair cracks in the bed frame. Within a few months time, the cracks were back and now Furniture Medic will not stand behind their work nor will the moving company - apparently it is my fault because of the "structural integrity" of the bed frame. I believe it is their way of saying they feel the bed is a piece of junk. In response to your explanation: This was not a new crack - the bed arch cracked in the same spot where it was supposedly fixed. The other arch was also cracked (although) not as bad and the fix is still holding. I ask you if you had something "fixed" would you expect the "fix" to last longer than 9 months? Again, I say shoddy workmanship and no commitment to stand behind your work. read more

Excellent repair work; contacted three other places, and no one else in town would take it on. (chair leg broke "inside" the upholstery). The result is beautiful: the chair is sturdy, the upholstery looks untouched, and the craftsmanship is superior. Plus, everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional. We had this company refinish just the top of a 150 year plus old table plus replace the glides. Because of the virus we had them just bring it in and we would put the legs back on. They installed the wrong glides so the center leg would not fit it. They eventually came out to put that leg on and found out it was the wrong glides so took it back to the shop. The owner called and said it would cost more to order the correct glides but because they had already gave a quote they would replace them. We were also not happy with the finish as it was rough. It went to them with a smooth finish. They kept saying it was because of the grain of wood and wouldn't listen to us when we said we wanted a smooth finish. They agreed to add more layers of finish. Two weeks later we got the table back and the finish still want smooth and when the were transporting it but 2 deep gouges in the top! We tried calling the owner, but he would not answer his phone. Two days later he send an email and said he would not talk to us but would entertain giving us a refund on what it would cost to bring it back to the shop to repair the damage they had caused. He accused us of being unreasonable and we didn't know what we were talking about! We have contacted the district office, but they won't respond to us either. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you don't agree with them they become rude and won't address your concerns. read more

They refinished a few items for me. Crazed and drips in the finish even after the second attempt. They re-did one piece but refused to re-do the crazed top. I now have to pay someone else to fix the problems. They are nice people until there is a problem. I will not be using them again. read more
