Excuse after excuse after excuse - do not use this company! So super sad to report that we still have not received any service for which we paid IN FULL for upfront. We have only received multiple excuses for why Chavez isn't able to start any of our multiple projects. Meanwhile, Chavez has over $16,000 since August, 2024 and we have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT (except for 5 yards of fabric so we could make our cornices ourselves)! However, he insisted we pay in full because the fabric was running low on stock. Seven (7) months later, he claimed the fabric for window treatments was discolored (REALLY)?!? We Still DON'T have them but we have the self made cornices. Doubtful we will ever see the coordinating Roman shades or any other of the window treatments (different color fabric, same manufacturer). Happy he never picked up our huge 5 piece sectional sofa and bench to reupholster or we may not have had a either (yes, paid for in full with an estimated 10-12 week start window), for now almost 10 months. Way too many excuses, complete lack of accountability and we have 100% lost confidence in this company's ability to get anything done (other than take our money)! Chavez since 67 re-upholstered two antique heirloom chairs. The fabric selection is outstanding, and I am happy with that. The workmanship was poor. One of the chairs literally fell apart after very little use. A screw came undone, which caused the back of the chair to fall off. These are high quality chairs I inherited from my grandparents, beautiful art deco high quality pieces. I reached out and asked them to fix the problem. They said they would pick up the chairs and take care of it. However I never heard back from them after this, and my attempts to reach them have gone unanswered. I spent over $1500 to have the work completed. I will take the broken chair somewhere else and pay to have it fixed. I do not recommend this place. read more

The people were hiding in the back. I had to look for them in the back of the store to ask if they could make a cushion out of a piece of Turkish carpeting which is a pretty standard thing. They were really weird and rude and for some reason could not make a basic cushion. They appeared to have lots of similar fabric in the shop so it's unclear what their problem was. read more

Review of Eddie Chavez of Chavez since 67 1/9/2024 My wife and I had an appointment with Eddie on July 21 2023. We brought a dining chair seat bottom so he could use it as a template. We ordered four foam cushions and selected the fabric my wife liked which he was going to order for us. We were planning to reupholster the chairs ourselves. I paid Eddie using my debit card $316.90. He told us it would probably take ten days to two weeks to get the fabric. At two weeks I called Eddie and left a voicemail He didn't return my call. So I waited a couple of days and tried again, again no response. This went on until we decided to show up at the business almost a month after paying him. I rang the doorbell a couple of times until he opened the door, he was with a customer that was leaving and he was visibly irritated at us for "not making an appointment". I explained that I couldn't make an appointment if he wont answer his phone or return his calls. He said if I emailed him he would've responded. He then told us that the cushions were completed, but that Fedex had lost our shipment and he had reordered and that the fabric should be here "any time now". I waited for another ten days and I left a voicemail again and I also emailed him, no response. I did this at least three more times until I sent an email saying that I wanted our seat bottom back and our money back as well, and if he didn't respond I would just go to his door and ring the doorbell until he answered. He finally responded with an appointment time. I went to the appointment with Eddie and he had our seat bottom and the four cushions setting on the counter, no fabric. I told him I would go ahead and take the cushions and that I would like a refund for the fabric which is a little over $200, I don't know the exact number because he didn't itemize on the receipt. He agreed and said we would have our refund by the end of the week. This was September 11 2023, 52 days after our first appointment. I have called and emailed a number of times and he has never responded. It has been nearly seven months since our first appointment, and nearly four months since he promised me a refund. My trusty comfortable chair was falling apart. It has good bones but the leather got ripped in multiple places. Instead of tossing it in the trash and buying a new one, I decided to have it reupholstered, and cannot be happier with Chavez's service. Eddie Jr is super friendly and knowledgeable, and he replied my email estimate quickly. I waited 2 months after the estimate to schedule an appointment (partly due to COVID partly laziness) but he was able to pull up the details immediately. He's an organized guy for sure. During COVID19 shop visit is by appointment only and the front door is locked to minimize the number of people inside. Everyone is required to wear masks and must use hand sanitizers before touching anything. I really appreciate these safety steps so I don't have to rush home and Lysol myself. When it comes to fabrics, they have stacks and stacks of choices. Different colors, patterns, textures, durability, and price ranges. They can get overwhelming but Eddie Jr helped me sort them out. I got my chair after about 2 weeks and I am super happy with the work. This place is a Tucson gem since 1967, and I'm gladly supporting it. read more

We had looked at brand new Hide-a-Beds but really liked the one we had, even though the fabric was stained and torn and the cushions were too squishy. We received our estimate in a timely manner and we came in and picked out fabric and a week later came in and paid in cash to have our ottoman recovered. This was on October 20th. We were told it would be 2-3 weeks to get the fabric and a week to recover the ottoman. We were happy with that because we wanted the ottoman back by Thanksgiving. It went downhill from here. Two weeks in we had not heard anything so I called and was told oh it shipped it will be here in a week. Ok, so I waited another week, we are on the third week now. We are told again that it had just shipped and would be delivered in a week. One more week and we called again and were told that the fabric was in and we were good to go. So we drop off the ottoman the Saturday before Thanksgiving and we were told it would be done in a week. I called the next Saturday and was told it would definitely be done by Tuesday. I called the next Wednesday and was told it wasn't done because there were holes in the end of the fabric and he had to order another yard and a half. I expressed my displeasure at this since we didn't want to wait another three weeks or more and I was told he would expedite the order and call me the next day. He has told me he would call me numerous times and he never does. I texted to be told he wasn't feeling well and hadn't been in but would be in on Friday and call me. It's Friday and no calls. Phone goes straight to voicemail and no response to my text. Looks like I'm out $570 and an ottoman since he has it too and 6 weeks of a run around and possible lies and still no finished product and not much hope of getting it done. We were going to have them make silk dupioni drapes for 3 windows and two sliding doors but not now! read more

Eddie and his crew at Chavez Upholstery did a terrific job on our Natuzzi reclining sofa. His team restuffed all the seat and back cushions. They also fixed a problem with the wooden frame, which had been keeping the recliner from working smoothly. Chavez picked up the sofa and delivered it back to our home when the work was complete....all in a few days' time! The quick turnaround time on the repair blew us away. The sofa is now more comfortable than it was when purchased brand new! Oh, and they did everything for the quoted price! There were no surprises upon delivery and the workmanship left us in awe.
