The positive reviews you read are from family members. My husband and I left town and placed my 3 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever at Custom Canine Grooming & Boarding in Camden-Wyoming DE as a last minute decision. One of the reasons we left her there was because of the space they had for my dog to run. Her caretaker told me that my pup jumped their fence along with another dog not too long after I left her there and was missing for 2 hours. This seems to be an issue with this facility as I later found out. To contain my pup, she said she put her on a 26 foot tether. 20 days into her stay her caretaker contacted us very upset telling us Isabel is bleeding and asked if she was spayed. She is. So she took her to the vet with a severe UTI and she was put her on Antibiotics. The Vet told me my pup lost nearly 15 lbs since her last visit in April. The caretaker then said my pup wasn't eating much and she guesses she should have let her out of her kennel enclosure more often. You think? The caretaker also said my pup was chewing on the kennel enclosure. Are you kidding me? My pup was hungry. She gobbles up anything I give her and drinks alot of water. One thing she won't do is go in her kennel. Can you imagine holding it in for a long time? We were on our way home and the caretaker demanded we pay her. I had no problem with that so I sent her a payment through PayPal. She was very rude and told us she calls my pup names like "heifer" and "fatty". Shortly after that, her caretaker said if we don't pick her up by a certain day that she would "dispose of" of our dog. We immediately called the police when we hung up. When we picked up our pup, we didn't realize the severity of the weight loss until we put her harness on her and it wouldn't fit. She practically knocked the food out of my hands when I fed her evening meal. Poor pup. This place starved my dog. I gave them plenty of food to feed her. I was worried that they would run out. I was in regular contact with this boarding facility as certain circumstances caused her stay to be extended. I can't say anymore but if you love your pets like we do, please do not leave your loved ones here.

I feel the need to correct the misinformation contained in the reviews below…read more Yes, a dog unfortunately was able to get loose while being boarded here. The business owner has never stated otherwise and never said that they weren't responsible and were of course very remorseful that this accident occurred. Neighbors and businesses in the area were notified right away and everyone was out looking daily for Roxi. The comments about the owner of the business blaming the family and saying that they'd look the other way if their dog was seen were NOT made by the business owner. These comments were made by a neighbor (this is very easily proven by looking at the dog's owner's Facebook page and seeing that the poster's name is Marian, which is NOT the name of the owner of the business), but because of how Roxi's owner framed the post she made sharing screenshots of the comments, it makes them appear to be comments made by the business owner. While the business owner was out looking for Roxi on 07/08/17, she spoke to a neighbor who had seen a dog matching Roxi's description a couple of nights in a row. Roxi's owners were notified and told to bring her crate and some items from home so there would be familiar smells. She also told them to not call her name because the dog could take it negatively and think she's in trouble and not come to them. When they arrived, they were given the items of Roxi's she still had (leash/food), however, the crate wasn't brought along and it didn't appear that any of her items from home were brought either, but they said that they felt they'd be able to catch her. Unfortunately, the dog ran from them but she was ultimately caught by a local business owner and reunited with her family a couple of days later. I should also note that in regard to Roxi's owners continued comments about her not bringing up the topic of legal action being taken - The only reason the owner of Custom Canine mentioned her not being able to sue is because of the numerous comments on the dog owner's Facebook page telling her to sue and the owner saying "I hope it doesn't come to that." The contract signed by Roxi's owner specifically says that the owner of Custom Canine is not liable for any pets being lost. Roxi's owner is claiming that the contract doesn't say this, however, she can only go by what she remembers reading when she skimmed the contract she signed. It's been discovered that she no longer has her signed copy because she's reached out to a client of Custom Canine asking for a copy of the boarding contract.

My husband and I have been loyal customers of Concord Pet since we got our first dogs in 2002. Over…read morethe course of the last two decades we have given a home to 17 dogs and eight cats. We currently have two puppies, a year old, an older dog, and three cats. Concord Pet has been our go-to place for all things related to our dogs and cats. We have spent thousands of dollars, first at the now-closed store on route 213 in Elkton, and then the Middletown store (approximately the past 12 years). We were well-known to the manager, past and present, given the volume of food we buy. Our standard brand for dogs and cats has been Grandma Mae's Country Naturals, grain free, large bags for dogs, approximatey $75/bag. The last two bags we purchased were in July, during their sale. Our practice is to empty the bag into a clean, closed container so that it stays fresh ,and to discard the manufacturer's bag. As we were feeding the second bag of whitefish kibble to our dogs, I noticed they were uninterested in it. I tried other toppings over a few days to entice them to eat. Nothing got them interested. It occurred to me that the kibble was spoiled. On 8/4 I brought the food back to the store. Heather, the manager and two other associates were there. They told me I could not return the food without the bag as they would not receive any credit from the manufacturer without the bag. I explained my situation and that in the 20+ years of being a customer, this was the first return I needed to make. They said they could do nothing without the bag. I asked if a store credit or other consideration could be made for a long-standing customer. They laughed at me and said there was nothing to be done without the bag. (Each bag is scanned upon purchased and entered into their system for discount after a certain number of purchases, so in my way of looking at this, all they needed to do was to look up our account, see the whitefish bag that was purchased during their sale and they would have the barcode scan then needed, but this was not done.) On 8/9 I reached out to the website's customer service and said I had a customer experience I'd like to discuss. I asked to be in touch with the reginal manager of the Delaware stores. On 8/11 I received a response from Kristine in Customer Service that she shared my email with the store manager and the next level up and I would receive a response from one of them. (I was not interested in speaking to the Middletown store manager, as she was the lead person with whom I had the interaction.) On 8/16 when I had not received a respons by either the Middletown store manager or the next level up, I reached out again to Kristine. I received two responses from Customer Service, one from Kristine, who said I should call the Corporate Office, as they handle customer complaints (different from her first response that I would be contacted), and another response from Christina saying that the senior leaders were out of the office and to "rest assured" I would be contacted. When I had no response by Friday, 8/25, I decided to call the Corporate Offices and spoke to Michelle, who said she fields calls for the owners. She very carefully asked questions, agreed that my experience was not a good one and said that she would speak to the owners, and that I would hear from her directly the following Monday, 8/28, even if it was to say that she had not been in touch with owners and had nothing to report. She repeated this several times. Today is Wednesday, 8/30 and still I have no response. I am amazed that 1. I had to go through so much trouble for one bad bag of dog food with a 21- year track record of substantial spending in this chain and 2. I got conflicting messages despite multiple touch points on my part. My husband and I try to buy local, whenever possible, as he was once a small business owner, and we know how much it means to do business with a local business instead of a web-based company. Given my experience, I will be reconsidering.

Because of these issues, our girl pup had begun to develop some mats in her coat. Both dogs were overdue for grooming. Needless to say, regular grooming (even at our most trusted groomer) was out of the question because of our injured dog's balance issues that were also complicated by her hip dysplasia. As she healed, we knew it would be extremely stressful to ever leave her at a busy, noisy grooming salon. What we needed to find was a groomer who could come to the house, provide one-on-one customized grooming in a safe, self-contained environment. We needed someone who could keep an eye out for any outward signs for us to follow up as needed with our vet. Most of all, we needed to find someone who was knowledgeable, caring, gentle and committed to the well being of our pups while under their care. We found all that and more with Amanda of Keep Pup Mobile Grooming Spa who I found thanks to the Yelp community. I cannot recommend her more highly. Our dogs immediately took to her as another member of the pack. Amanda was super responsive in providing appointments that fit our very challenging schedules, and worked with us to ensure any special health concerns were addressed. Her mobile grooming spa is immaculately kept, and Amanda has high standards to ensure a safe, low-stress experience for pets and owners. We plan on booking her as far in advance as possible to ensure our fur babies get the very best, right here in our neighborhood. Gotta love that! It is best to contact her via text, and give her needed information; breed, age/sex of pet, last grooming date, etc. She will let you know if she services your area and will provide you with an estimate and window of her arrival. Amanda is prompt, in fact she arrived early for the appointment (she checked with me first) and she did an amazing job with Duchess. I have to admit this has to be her best grooming yet. You can tell that she enjoys her work by her performance. The grooming is on par with area groomers, but you get a more personalized touch, AND you don't have to leave your home. I have already recommended Amanda to family and will be using her again.
