Cafe by day and Thai restaurant by night, the newest kid on Ponsonby Road aims to fuse western and eastern style in a trendy black and white space. While the lunch and dinner menus are composed of traditional, aromatic and freshly prepared Thai dishes, the breakfast menu pays homage to the taste of the average European cafe punter. Eggs, bacon and pancakes are all on offer, but not much in the way of original fare. While decent enough, I think the owners are missing a trick here. Ponsonby Road is long overdue an breakfast establishment serving genuine Asian meals. Extending the palate of conventional breakfast customers to the delicious fruit and spice based options that one dreams about waking to on a holiday to Thailand would be a real coup. I hope they take up this challenge once they get into the rhythm of service. Quality and a point of difference are usually the discerning factors between those who thrive and those who do not do so well on this busy road. read more
