They've totally changed this place! It really had started to get a little rough with many dark corners in the back. They completely redid the place ad made it into a lounge style venue for live music. The dj booth is still there but on the weekends it looks like it'll be live bands! I'm happy about this especially since the cover was still cheap at $7 and the doorman could name all the specials and you still get free pool all night. They have got to do a better job with the smoke, though. It's still very bad. Better ventilation would go a long way. read more

I found the staff to be friendly and the bartenders are always on it. It is overly smokey and that kills me and my friends. Also- I have asked for internet service they claim to have for over 5 months. They have internet and a public network, they just don't maintain it and it does not work- still. For those of us in sales and travel for business it would be nice to be able to go there "work", play some pool and have some drinks. Instead we go to a place we can use the internet. "Please fix your internet". You already have the network, you are paying for the service, it doesn't cost you anything to fix this small issue your customers have asked for. Seems reasonable. As a disclaimer, this place is right down the road from my house and I've been here at least once a week pretty much since it opened. That might make me a little biased, but I'm going to try to be pretty fair. Also worth noting that I usually go during the week - the weekends can get a little bit crazy sometimes. Pros: - Tons of pool tables that are free 5 nights a week, including weekends. - Full bar with plenty of drink choices at reasonable prices (I recommend the Long Islands for $6.) - Bar staff is super friendly and waitresses make the rounds like clockwork. - A nice mix of karaoke, dj, and live music depending on the day of the week, and a jukebox for other times. - Black Light Pool Night on Wednesdays [currently. The day has changed before.] is really fun. The balls glow and the tables are set up with glowing lines, the whole side of the building is under blacklight. It's a trip. - Darts, video poker type things, occasional beer pong (played with water, I assume for health reasons), and plenty of TV's to keep you entertained if you're not there to shoot pool. Neutral: - No rap on the jukebox. I believe they did this in response to some less-than-upstanding customers they had trouble with some time ago. Along with the dress code this seems to have helped, but it does me no good when I'm jonesin' for some Eminem or Lil Wayne. - No food. They used to have a small kitchen and put out some decent food. They've since done away with it and now have a "Bring your own food" policy, as well as a list of places that deliver. Cons: - Smoking. Even as a smoker I leave this place ready to burn & bury my clothes. It can get really bad on busy nights, and is enough that some of my non-smoking friends simply refuse to go there. - Tables could be in better shape. They redid a bunch of the felt not too long ago, but some are getting pretty run down again. All in all there's really no place I'd rather go in Temple. It's got a very laid back atmosphere, good drinks and plenty of space - it never really feels crowded, even on a busy Saturday night. This place is has the unfriendliest staff that I have ever seen in my life. I went here with my buddy for the Super Bowl. Right when we walk inside, the gal bartending says from 20 feet away, "I need to see y'all's ID's." Normally when I walk into a place where I am going to spend money I get a "welcome" or "hello, how are you doing today," but, instead, I get called out in front of the whole bar by this gal who didn't even crack a smile. I'm 26, and I know I look young, but please wait until I get to the bar for us to establish my legal age. The second time I went, I brought my own billiard balls. The guy bartending tells me that I can't use my own balls on their mediocre tables. Confused, I ask if he could give the owner a call and ask if it was alright. He refused, saying that that was his rule. I decided to look up another billiards place and was welcomed from the time I stepped into the door and was able to play with my own balls. PROS: They at least keep their beer cold. CONS: Everyone who works there is a jerk. It's a bar that tries so hard to be a pool hall-- but epic fails. read more

I don't do this often because most of the time I just turn the other cheek but this time is different. Right around 9:05 I walked into your establishment and presented my ID to the door guy. My hard copy showed that it was expired but in compliance with the Texas Online Renewal Process I was told to print and carry my online renewal which is valid in conjunction with the expired hard copy. I had yet to receive my new ID card but I was still abiding my state law and had a valid for of ID. I explained this to the door guy and showed him the email I got from the state government and he said that it was against TABC. Little did he know I bartend Downtown Austin and also am TABC certified. Something didn't add up. We then went to the bar manager Zach who after a conversation did admit that it was in fact not only a valid ID but also in compliance with TABC. Then the response shifted from "it's not legal/valid" and "it's against TABC" to "it's our bar rule." When you get those responses you begin to think that the decision to not let me go in had nothing to do with ID and it might be something else. I don't like to be one to say they are being discriminated against but that is exactly what that looks like and I just wanted to let you know that that is unacceptable and unfair. As a place open to the general public you should treat everybody the same and not use "bar rule" as an excuse for wrongful treatment of people who want to spend money in your business and take care of your workers. read more

I went here this weekend with my boyfriend and our friends to drink and shoot some pool. The layout is nice, the beer pong area is secluded and it was free pool all night long which was really nice as well. The music was random and of variety however I really disliked the staff. Some of the girls behind the bar are so rude and some of the bouncers are complete pricks. I'm not sure how they manage to get by with making tips here. The customer service could be better but the vibe is good so if you're looking for a place to hang out with some friends and drink, I would atleast give this place a shot. read more

I would give this place 3 or maybe 4 stars if they did something about the smell. I do not recommend the bar to anyone. Only for Karaoke and Pool, If you do go there get drunk before, and definitely have beer in your trunk and go outside and down one, (make sure you have a DD) it would be faster than waiting at the bar, with all the rude bartenders who make you wait 2 hours for a beer. My friends and sister's, and i went there and had the worst time. Bartenders totally ignored us, and I spent more time at the bar waiting for drinks than doing anything else. And when I got the bartenders attention, random people started handing me the money to get their beer as well, because they had been waiting there with me . They were just acting busy instead of actually pushing drinks out. Then i went back to the bar because they forgot one of my beers behind the counter, and one of the bartenders got attitude with me, and asked me "what the fuck do you want? I see you standing here, I'm looking right you" and i said "nevermind then your obviously busy not doing your job" I wasint trying to be rude at all, I was actually being quite nice to him until he started cussing at me for no reason. I understood he was under a lot of pressure but being rude like that, definitely takes business away from the company. So I went to the other side of the bar and I went to the waitress part of the bar to let a waitress know, my beer was sitting right behind the counter if she could just pass it to me, and this other guy bartender said to me "this is the waitress well, you do not need to be over here, I don't care what you need, go wait with everyone else and we can get to you when we can" and one of the other customers saw this and told him "bro she's about to cry don't talk to her like that" I was like " I was letting you or someone know that the other bartender forgot my beer right there behind the counter i just needed him to hand it to me, but he was being super rude" and the the guy I was telling that to said "to tell you the truth I don't give a fuck" I said "busy with what cause obviously not getting drinks to the obviously crowded bar" and a lot of people agreed when they heard that. So these bartenders didint know I knew the manager personally and I went and talked to him after the event and yes I was crying because I had no idea why I was treated that way, I understood they were under a lot of pressure but to treat someone like that was definitely uncalled for, he apologized to me and said he would take care of it. And I told him I understood the pressure they were under, but people don't need to work in stressful environments if they are just going to get mad if they can't handle it. I haven't went back since this event occurred and neither have any of my friends, or family, because of these bartenders attitudes. The sad part is I used to go here a lot, and they were never rude to me and service used to be great and FAST, and I always had fun, but after that night it was a huge turn off, I'll never go back. I know a lot of places don't care if they lose 7 or 8 customers, but any good business owners should care about all of their customers and the way they are treated. read more

This use to be a cool place to have a beer and play pool, but due to recent stabbing and demographical presence, it has become a place of ignorance and violence. The service there is mediocre at best, and the people who attend attend there are more less than friendly. They let people drink as much as they want and they don't cut people off when need be.
