Today I brought two of my sons in and they both got great haircuts and we were in and out fairly quickly. The store is in the same shopping center as Persnickety (gift shop) and a nail salon, so it is very nice to go shop while the guys are getting haircuts. The haircuts are about average in price, we pay 20 each plus tip. They always have good music playing. Although they have products for sale, I have never had anyone tell me about them, I feel like this is missed sales for the store. Overall really nice people and great environment.

I took my 9-year-old son in yesterday for a haircut. The best thing I can say about the experience…read moreis that it was quick. From the moment we sat down, I felt like nothing I had to say mattered. When the stylist asked how short I wanted the sides, I began to explain that I was thinking about a skin fade. Before I could even finish my sentence, she cut me off and said, "I'm not doing that to this boy. How about a two?" My son hates haircuts, has sensitive ears and a sensitive scalp, and plays football, so I wanted a skin fade partly because it would stay neat longer and help keep him cooler in a helmet. But I didn't argue. I figured maybe she had a professional vision and knew what she was doing. Unfortunately, she didn't do a fade at all. It was simply a #2 all the way around the sides. That was disappointing enough, but it got worse. When she asked how much I wanted taken off the top, I said a few inches. She took off maybe one inch. When she finished, she asked what I thought. I tried to explain that I wanted the bangs cleaned up and the top a little shorter. Once again, before I could get more than a few words out, she interrupted me. This time, she didn't just interrupt--she started cackling. Not chuckling. CACKLING. Loud enough that it felt like the whole block could hear it. She loudly said, "I'm not giving your boy no Dumb and Dumber bangs." The problem is that I was never asking for "Dumb and Dumber" bangs. She assumed she knew what I wanted without ever listening long enough to understand what I was actually saying. I never even got the chance to explain. She made a few quick cuts to his bangs, which helped slightly, but it still wasn't what I had requested. More importantly, the entire interaction left me feeling embarrassed and completely dismissed. As I checked out, she continued telling her own version of the story, making jokes at my expense and portraying me as someone asking for ridiculous hair. In front of my son. Instead of listening to her customer, she mocked one she clearly never tried to understand. I have spent the last 24 hours embarrassed, frustrated, and honestly ashamed that I allowed myself to be treated that way. No customer should be laughed at, interrupted repeatedly, or belittled for trying to explain what they want. The most unbelievable part? I still tipped. Not because I was happy with the service, but because I hate confrontation and was raised to treat people respectfully even when they don't extend the same courtesy to me. I will never return. This was, without question, the most disrespectful salon experience I have ever had. A haircut can grow back. Being treated with basic respect should never be optional.
