Long ago I signed up for their in house rewards program and I've used it that last several times I've gone in. The selection of games is very good. My daughter loved the Squishables. Quite frankly I should've lied and just left my address as the incorrect address on the check--but I figured I would be a Good Samaritan and write my correct address on them for verification purposes. If the manager would've been polite I wouldn't be writing a review, however I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of home projects AND products at this store before via a check and it has never been an issue. When I asked her why it didn't work today but it had worked two weeks ago when I was last in, her response was "idk it doesn't work today" and when I asked if I could write a check for a portion and a card of the other she said "nope-when you get an in state is it'll work." I get it it's a stressful season, but it was 1030 on a Monday and it's far from busy in the store. I honestly won't be coming back into this store unless my employer asks me to pick some decorations up for our store.

There's train stuff for HO, N and O gauge. Mostly the bare essentials. There's quite a bit of RC stuff and the guy seems pretty knowledgeable about RC and drones. There are some essential tools for most hobbies. It's not a huge place, but is a place where you would want to stop in on regular basis to see what's new.

I dropped the truck off for repair, and while I understood repairs can sometimes take a while, the process took a very long time. Eventually, I received one phone call letting me know the repair had been completed. Unfortunately, after 90 days of not picking it up, I later learned that the truck had been surrendered. What's hardest for me to understand is that I never received a second phone call, voicemail, warning, or any kind of notice that my truck was about to be surrendered. Not one. What makes this especially frustrating is that over the years I've received numerous phone calls from the store over much smaller things -- special-ordered parts, minor items, and other routine pickups. So it's difficult for me to understand why there wasn't more effort made to contact me over something worth nearly $2,000 and carrying so much personal value. This hobby store means a lot to me personally. My late father used to take me there when I was younger, and some of my best memories with him came from spending time there together. These days, I love bringing my own two children there and sharing the same hobby with them. That's why this situation feels so devastating. It wasn't just an RC truck to me. It represented years of memories, time, money, and something meaningful I shared across generations of my family. I understand businesses have policies, and I'm not trying to attack anyone personally. I just truly wish more effort had been made before permanently surrendering something that clearly meant so much to a longtime customer. I still hope there's some way this situation can be made right.

Their selection of new kits is very deep and very well organized. The vintage kit selection is varied and reasonably priced. And bargains can be found in the back room if you know what you're doing. Staff is uniformly friendly; I am always greeted when I arrive. If I have a question or need help, it's always fast and efficient. if I just want to wander around and window shop, they don't seem to have a problem with that. This place is a real gem. A throwback to a time when shops like this dotted the twin cities. I haven't seen a shop like this since I used to shop at the old Moeller hobby shop in Robbinsdale. So online shopping pick up at store is no better than just shipping right to customer's home. I wanted to order item and have picked up at Michael's in Mankato, MN. Site would not recognize my account, user ID, etc. nor would it let me sign up (in case of snafu). So then I tried to prepay for my order, in the Mankato store, but was told they could not take payments over the phone. Ridiculous in this day and age. I received daily emails from Michael's, so company has my email address. Also wanted me to download the Michael's app on my phone. I do not agree with Michael's privacy policy--providing all my info to other companies and entities, even including number of family members. Have all customers actually read your privacy policy? I should be able to order something without all these requirements. I finally ended up having store hold my item, while I send my sister money to go pay and pick it up. I will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience.
