I was told to lie on a table with my pants off, and then the doctor walks in and starts talking before we have been introduced, and before I could even see who it was I was talking to. The it was, "turn on your side knees to chest," then boom, a finger up the butt. I cam in for painful prostatitis and that "exam" was incredibly painful. He then swiped my butt once with a paper towel, and walked out of the room, calling over his shoulder, pull you pants back up. He came back later, and once again did not look me in the eyes. He held a tablet and was focused on that more than me. He was obviously frustrated and upset, talking to the tablet, calling it stupid! "I hate these things" he uttered in apparent explanation. Then he was up and walking out again, saying, "FOLLOW ME." We ended up at the front desk, where he told me "The GIRL will check you out." I was so shocked i didn't have time to ask or clarify anything. What was my diagnosis? What was the treatment? The receptionist explained I was to be put on antibiotics, and to come back in month. When I contacted the office for follow-up, she did not speak with me directly and instead told me to go to an urgent care clinic. This is very disappointing and, in my opinion, reflects a lack of concern for patient care. What I find especially concerning is that this practice specializes in urogynecology, yet when the prescribed treatment failed, there was no effort to evaluate my condition further or discuss alternative options. My other healthcare providers routinely follow up after prescribing medication to ensure that the treatment is working and to address any ongoing issues. Additionally, the office changed my specialist without notifying me in advance, which was both confusing and frustrating. As a patient, I expect communication, follow-up, and continuity of care. As far as what needed to be done: I was told I would have a procedure done based off of an ultrasound. I was given a Rx for an antibiotic. I let them know that there was a risk of tendon damage with the prescribed antibiotic. They sent a script for a new antibiotic. I was in contact with the office 2 days before the procedure. I expected to have the procedure done when I went in. I'm not too keen on taking antibiotics due to the damage it does to good and bad bacteria in your gut. It's not healthy to take antibiotics unless necessary. It would have been necessary if I received the procedure. I took it for a day and a half, and got to the office to find out that it was supposedly not the best route to treat me to do that procedure after paying for (2 antibiotics) and taking one of them. The procedure is something Dr Sofer said she would have told a family member (of hers) to get and it's difficult to get certain images and diagnoses confused when it's a close family member and a patient has the same thing, so with that said, it seems as if the more invasive procedure is just being pushed for other reasons. Idk for sure, but I'm confused and quite honestly afraid to go through with the other procedure being recommended. I was given a physicians order for a certain type of MRI that this place is charging $95 for in addition to what my insurance covers.
