Daughter and I stopped in for a look around on one of our walkabouts, and were very pleasantly pleased with what we found and observed. The shop, though looking small from the outside, has two levels of displays inside, and is well-stocked with a fine range of various collectibles, antiques, and such. I liked and appreciated the ambiance -- it was quiet (background music, at low level), with lighting appropriate to the kind of establishment and offerings -- and our cordial and informative host. We enjoyed browsing the several areas of the shop, and checking out the various displays. And amongst the looking around, asking our host a few questions about the shop, and some of the items we found of most interest. It was good to see this fine shop back in business, and wish them well in their endeavours.

We were back to Le Shed again during a recent end-of-September stay in Hope. Daughter and I…read moredropped in during a downtown walkabout the first afternoon of our stay. And then came back with Mom the next day, so she could finally have the opportunity of meeting/chatting with the owner, and seeing her fine shop and offerings, and witnessing her wonderful artistic talents. It was another opportunity for us to see and chat with 'Cindy' (owner/artist), about her current displays, recent restorations, new creations, and some of her future plans, thoughts, and all. Several offerings caught our attention this time, but especially, a large, writing/art-working desk display, and several pieces of furniture she had restored since our last visit. We sure enjoyed seeing the very artistic, creative, and lovely makeovers she had completed with each (desk, side/lamp table, large cabinet, and bureau). Fine pieces, that will make lovely additions to someone's home, studio, or the like. These works, and some others, gave us the opportunity to see a little of what she has been doing, and how she has been experimenting with the 'FAT' brand of paints, and other products, she carries and sells in her shop. We so-enjoyed these visits to 'Le Shed'. With its lovely proprietor, and cool displays of "old things, vintage, and odds & ends" stuff -- for us, a 'must-do' stop in downtown Hope.

The 'Hope Arts Gallery' garnered our attention for a couple of visits during our recent 3-night…read morestay in Hope. Our first visit was made during a downtown walkabout daughter and I made early in our stay -- basically, a "let's go and see what's new" visit. While there, I was able to capture photos of some of the displays. No purchases made, but some pottery items put 'in mind', to think and talk about when were back to our room at the motel. We dropped back again later in our stay, and were fortunate to have 'Jenny Wolpert' (one of the artists featured at the gallery), there as the 'volunteer host' at the time. A nice surprise - not only did I know her pottery work from a previous visit's purchase, but it was pieces of her pottery currently being displayed, that were on my mind, and had encouraged me to go back for this additional look!! She was a delight to meet, and I so-enjoyed our chats - about crafting pottery, her particular style, ambitions, et al. I selected, put together, and purchased several lovely pieces of her stoneware pottery - some unique colours, shapes, and designs -- bowls, drinking mugs, wine 'glasses', cream/milk pitcher. They are all home now, and add to, and complement the large bowl I found during our last stay. Fall is here, winter is on it's way -- Jenny's wonderfully-crafted, and lovely stoneware pottery, will be featured in many of our food & drink creations! Sure glad daughter and I made that last visit to the Gallery!!

Daughter and I discovered The Art Machine for the first time, when visiting the nearby Hope Arts…read moreGallery last week. We did not get into the facility itself, but from volunteers at the Gallery, and some signage posted there, were able to acquire some basic, information on what The Art Machine was all about -- a small community arts school affiliated with the Hope & District Arts Council - Community Arts Program. Apparently, their program consists of weekly art classes, provided at minimum cost, and to willing students of any level experience or ability. Classes offered, cover a wide-range of arts -- including drawing, collage, painting, pottery, crafts, and the like. We were able to see several works created by a number of students (from children to adults) attending classes there this year, via a nice exhibit of their works at the Gallery -- which was much fun to see and experience. Good on the Hope & District Arts Council for enabling such a facility, and way to go to the students attending classes there. From what we saw, heard, and read, The Art Machine appears to be a real winner for the community!!

During a recent stay in Hope, and first walkabout of the downtown area, daughter and I found a new…read morestore located in a very familiar to us location -- formerly 'Cat's Meow', it was now 'Kerfuffle Creations'. The shop was closed when we first 'discovered' it, but open on a next day walkabout, and a chance for us to get inside, and catch a first-hand look at the offerings. We received great service from the host tending the store at the time we were there. She provided very friendly, informative, and accommodating help to all the questions re: what we were seeing. We came 'so close' to capturing a couple of crafted figures. We resisted this time -- thinking, the store's new, selections are so minimal -- let's wait a while until the shop and its offerings 'mature' a touch, and we get back for another look.

We were back to Artisans Attic for another browse and look about the shop during a recent…read morelate-March stay in Hope. As the last time when we entered this small shop, we were immediately impressed with how much "stuff & such" was on display. All wall spaces, tables, and shelves were filled with their unique, and colourful offerings of all kinds - very nicely-displayed, and presented to catch passing eyes! For daughter and I once again, the same variety and selections of crafts, gifts, and such as seen before. Of special note to me this visit though, was seeing the large collection of 'hand-painted glassware by Errol Brimacombe'. It was nice to see such a wide-selection of this Chilliwack artist's glassware pieces on display here (and my photo only shows pieces on the table, missing the others on shelves behind) The same wonderful aromas of their homemade fudges, gelato offerings, and other sweets filled the air, and added that same nice touch to the senses of our previous visit. We were happy to have had this chance for a return visit to this fine shop.

Re: some 'Padraig Cottage Slipper' memories…read more I saw a sign in the window of 'Blue Dandelion' during last week's stay in Harrison, which indicated they sell 'Padraig Slippers'. Seeing the sign triggered memories of the pair I purchased there, as a gift for my lady, during a stay in Harrison back in April, 2019. To quote from the 'tags' attached to the slippers when purchased -- the Padraig Cottage slippers are ... "made in Canada by hand, using 100% sheep wool, sheepskin, and leather." My lady has truly-loved and enjoyed wearing the pair she received. And from personal observations, I know they have been worn very often, and have stood up to all the wearing well. It was good to see these wonderful slippers are still being sold there. Maybe a pair for me when in Harrison for our next stay?
